Folks still got ish to say? Leave the girl alone, her hair looks good. In fact it looks VERY similar to a member's hair here who gets tons of praise. :look: I just can't wait to see all these brand new folks BC and think their hair is going to look like Mwedzi's RENEICE results the first time they flat iron it at home. :giggle:

sooooooo..... question??? if my HEALTHY HAIR recoils to MBL but is full waistlength when stretched am i MBL or am i Waistlength?

i don't understand... as long as I'm not doing the gangsta lean, chin up or chin down... leaning to the left or right or simulating a back bend or split

would my hair be WAISTLENGTH if stretched to such??:look:  :look::yawn: :look:  :look:

awwwwwwwww neva mind..... heyellllll I haven't really seen my waist in a while anyway

off to buy P90X after staring at this chic's arms

LMFAO@gangsta lean

When my hair is blowfried (avatar) at the salon its full waist length and stays that way. When I do my hair myself, I rollerset and brush it out and it shrinks to MBL with some curls at the end. I like big bouncy hair so it doesn't bother me.

The way some of y'all act, you would think ole girl was splitting her paycheck with you.
Solitude, I wasn't going to say anything because I am on my way to rehab and I am NOT allowed to be in KT threads (they trigger my addiction) but this...:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:*iCan't*

OOOOO Junebug...do share!:look: Or PM, I can keep a secret!

She did a great job, thickness, length and health overall. Not everyone wants bone straight hair there's nothing wrong with that. If anything i'm sure the natural hair community commend her for not going super silky straight lol. After not using heat for as long as she has it makes sense to be concerned about damaging her curls. Who wants a set-back after gaining length and health over a long period of time.

Sigh.........when/where did I say that her hair was dry and stiff because "something is wrong with her hair"????? Something like what? I never said her hair was unhealthy or damaged or anything like that at all.

You're so busy being defensive that I don't think you even read what I wrote. I said that she probably used a sticky product or waited too long between blowdrying and flat-ironing. Since you clearly didn't read my original post, I re-quoted it below:

ETA...and the rest of my posts in this thread (in none of which did I say there was anything wrong with her hair besides it looking stiff and dry.)

The way some of y'all act, you would think ole girl was splitting her paycheck with you.

Two weeks ago, I didn't know who the chick was. I saw all the threads and checked out a few of her videos. I'm not a Kimmay stan at all.

I'm not being defensive. I read all of your posts. I guess I'm more confused than anything.

You said her hair was dull, dry, stiff, etc.

I said it was probably due to incorrect product or technique.

You disagreed.

I then asked what you thought was it from.

You said "she probably used a sticky product or waited too long between blowdrying and flat-ironing."

Wouldn't that be improper product and improper technique? :perplexed :ohwell:

I know that I am going to get stoned for this :duck: but to ME long hair does not equal pretty hair. And no I am not a hater. I have to be what is considered long hair (but I would like it longer ). But like I said JMHO.

I will say that does show that you can grow long hair.

:nono::nono::nono: @ some comments. Kimmay gave you what you wanted and you're still not happy. She's happy with her hair and that's all that counts, I guess.:look: She is a good example of someone who retains growth well. Go, Kimmay!:dance7:

Her flatiron technique is as good as mine lol. Her hair looks nice. She could use some castor oil on those edges and a small trim, straight hair isn't as forgiving as curly. It was fun to see her having fun with her hair. I know when mine gets to that length, I will be having fun with mine!

i don't think she was trying to get it bone-straight. if she was, i'm sure she would've gone to a professional.

i think her hair looked nice.

Her hair is lovely. She did a good job flat ironing her hair after not flat ironing in years. I am a subscriber to her channel and thank he for all the knowledge she has obtained over the years and shared. I will continue to follow her and wish her success of her hair journey. Nothing but love to Kimmaytube.

I think the negativity comes from the fact that she touts herself as an expert and is building a following based on her achievements. And many of us are not impressed. If she's an expert, we expect expert-like results and her flatiron job ain't silky. That's a #fail. She elected herself spokeswoman of natural hair cuz she got a hook into Essence. Lol. Um, no boo-boo.

Is she informative? Yes. Is she reaching others who need a lil direction? Sure. I'll give her that. But that's about it.

We can appreciate the time and effort to grow 4 type hair but the salty attitude and antipation buildup just ain't justified by a long shot. She can take her 'tude and saggy tittays and saddown somewhere. (oh come on, thats funny)

My take on this lady and her hair.

In before the :padlock2: and poof!
Last time I checked she wasn't touting herself as an expert in flat ironing. Isn't this like her first or second time? Her expertise lies in growth, rentention, and taking care of natural hair. Based on what I've seen I see it as #success.

I prefer Kimmaytube with her naturally curly hair.

Her length, body and retention is great. Some people pay WAY too much attention to this lady, her hair and her attitude. Just odd.

Seems as if most of the negative comments are from those with natural hair and LHCF members. Such nasty, catty, negative behavior from LHCF members is disappointing.

Why are so many people doing minute by minute view-bys if her hair is so mediocre? Stop watching her channel if her hair and methods are so uninspiring to you. Instead start your own YT channel so we can offer you the same support you are offering.

Anyway her hair looks nice.

It seems many people neglected to read the description box, which is extremely important when watching Kim's video.

Q) Why didn't you make it bone straight?
A) Because I didn't want to.

So she didn't make it bone straight. She should get stoned for it? I certainly don't think so. Maybe she used too much products, or it was a personal choice. Either way, we don't know for sure. I take things as they are, so if she said she didn't want it bone straight, then I'm not going to argue with her. Her hair looks decent, in my opinion. I just viewed, clicked like, and kept it moving.

On the length yay her
On the vid quality HORRIBLE compared to the usual
On the flat ironed styles didn't like any they all look stiff
On the taking days to post I get u have a life BUT don't give folk a specific date and then not come through you had time.
On the length retention *yay*
On juvenile answers in description box "waste of time" (because I didn't want to)
Overall could have done without

Yes! My thoughts exactly.

On juvenile answers in description box "waste of time" (because I didn't want to)

This type of attack on another woman makes no sense, unless you believe that women are being juvenile if they don't straighten bone straight.

QUOTE:

Here are answers to some questions I'm anticipating:

Q) Did you TRIM your hair? Will you trim it while it's straight?
A) No. I did not trim my hair. Surprisingly, my ends were fairly even considering that I do not trim them evenly, ever. I only trim off knots and weathered ends. I am not going to trim my hair while it's straight. Why would I do that? I wear it kinky 99% of the time. Why would I change up a strategy that has gotten me here thus far? There are a lot of opinions and misinformation about trimming, but I don't debate it anymore. :-/ If you prefer to wear your hair straight on a regular basis, evenly trimming your hair may be best for you.

Q) Why didn't you make it bone straight?
A) Because I didn't want to.

Q) Is your hair really waist length?

A) Technically, my longest portion of hair (especially my hair in the back on my right) reaches the narrowest point of my waistline. My narrowest part of my waistline is 24". This is wear my hair falls. So as far as I'm concerned, I've reached my goal. :o)

HOWEVER, I am going to continue my growth journey for the rest of the year! Waist length for me is a span that continues for another 6" down the length of my body.

Q) What is your NEW HAIR GOAL?
A) So now, I want the bulk of my hair to be at waist length by August 2011. That will be another 3 - 4" of hair.

At my growth rate (6" a year) I should reach my hipbone by January 2012. With the exception of my DVD footage, I probably won't flat iron it again until then.

Q) Will you be doing a tutorial on flat ironing?
A) No. But I will talk in general about my overall experience in my next video (in a few more days).

Q) Are you worried that your hair won't revert back?
A) No. Not only did I use a moderate heat setting, I did some research about heat. I found out some interesting stuff. A lot of you thought I was "weird" for saving my shed hairs. But they came in handy and that is all that I will say. :o)

Q) How long will you keep it straight?
A) It's been 6 days and I'm already anxious to revert my hair back to kinky. But I still have more video/photos to take. So I'll probably keep it straight for the next 4 days at the MOST. It's bad enough I've gone this long without water.
:o) But I LOVE IT, no regrets :o)

One last thing, a peeve of mine--(*sigh* sorry, i have to say this)
If flat ironing is not for you, that is YOUR choice. I think people are way too concerned about what others do to their hair when they should focus on themselves (and achieving their personal goals if they have them).

The more I've been learning about MY hair and following the hair journeys of other ladies on youtube, I've gained a renewed respect for the CHOICES of others. Much respect to longhairdontcare2011, Brittanynic16, LeobodyC5 and several others. You ladies rock! Thank you for sharing your techniques and journeys on Youtube. :o)

back to the sermon lol....
Personally, I'm not a fan of people who are dogmatic and fascist about hair. It's not only weird (in my opinion) it's annoying. :-/ (hey, someone has to say it! lol)

I flat ironed my hair because it was something *I* wanted to do for MYSELF. Is that okay with you that I do what I want with the hair I've grown? LOL. (see how ridiculous it sounds?) :o)

Please know that I respect whatever choices YOU choose to make about your hair. If you use the information on my channel to grow your hair long and then decide to relax it, I will not be mad. Relaxers are not for me, but I will never demonize people for it. Same thing with straightening, or if you wear half wigs, whatever to cover/protect your hair. Again, it's not MY thing, but if its yours, you're still cool with me. I don't make friends based on hair texture or hair choices. I make friends with good, positive spirits.

The purpose of my channel is to provide factual INFORMATION for maintaining hair and retaining length. What you choose to do with that information is completely up to you. I think sometimes people get confused with the dedication I have towards my goals. Just because I do or don't do certain things doesn't mean I'm trying to influence you on any cultural level! Again, all I care about is sharing information in fun and educational way.

Never forget, I'm preoccupied with my life and choices! My friends will even tell you, I mind my own business! ;o)

And that's all for now.

Peace!

Kim Love

I personally would like to know why people care so much about what other people have to say about another person's hair. Seems off.

Maybe its because i see sooo many gorgeous heads of hair on LHCF everyday that I'm not that surprised by her hair length. She has nice thick hair curly or straight. :)

Elle Pixie, I don't know of anyone who likes being attacked... and I personally believe the acceptance of black women tearing each other down is off
