My guest list just got cut in half. Not paying ~$60 per person for food drinks and a seat for acquaintances and parents' "friends".
Random thought…why are the women on theknot.com so crochety??? They have a lot of info and post more often about wedding related matters than here, but they are so nitpicky and extra. One woman is policing how folks word their invitations, telling them "there's no purpose to list that the groom is "son of…"" Um, the purpose is to include the groom's parents, so that they are mentioned as well. Nowadays, when a mix of people are contributing to the wedding, the old rules don't apply as much. Hot mess.
The people on The Knot are super sticklers on etiquette and have no problem ripping folks a new one. I can always tell by the title of thread that they are about to go in! I'm usually on Wedding Bee; they are way more easy going. I just wish the African American boards were more active. I love munalunchi but their weddings always look way out of my budget. I enjoy oooohhhing and awwwing over the pics though.

There is a lot of great info there but I only lurked, never posted. They are really nasty over there.
Very nasty. I posted once asking other brides if their FHs were as vocal as mine about certain elements of the wedding. I was questioned up and down and even asked why I was marrying him. SMH. Since then, I lurk mostly and post only occassionally. And it's a lot of frumpy White woman snark, which I can't tolerate.
I think a lot of them just get a kick out being mean. I notice that a lot of them have been married for years but they are still very active on that board telling brides-to-be how wrong they are about everything. It's like, why are you posting on these boards every single day when you are no longer planning a wedding?

Congratulations to everyone!!! Are you all usin g wedding planners or DYI?
Newly engaged (as of yesterday evening). Haven't selected a wedding date yet.
Oh and I estimated 60 people would come to our destination wedding and here I am with a guest count of almost 100. Wtf!!! Now I have to figure out how to pay for all these folks lol. Smh. I am so anxious all I can do is laugh to keep from crying
Midly freaking out. I am five months out and the bridesmaids dresses I want I read will take 4 months to come in! I'm praying this is not true. My appt is on Sunday for them to try dresses. I hope this all works out.
That sounds about right for bridesmaids dresses. You can rush order them if you need to.
