2015/2016 Brides Roll Call & Random Thoughts :-)

I am giving myself one more week to find a dress or else I'm picking the one I tried on a few weeks ago that I liked a lot. Trying on dresses is exhausting. I've tried on over 30 by now...Things I've found:

1. I can't tell the difference between "designer" and "not designer."
2. Though I love a good sale in real life, I don't think I can bring myself to buy a sample sale gown b/c so many have little rips or stains and I will obsess about it. Even though I feel this way, I still can't stop myself from going to sample sales in case I find the 1 in one thousand sample that is in pristine condition.
3. I love mermaid dresses. I tried on a ballgown recently and I was not fond of it. I also like some bling factor. All lace won't photograph well on me, IMO.

Is anyone doing a wedding website? I wasn't, because he is a pretty private person and our guest list consists of only ppl we know well enough to text directly. However...I've noticed that he has his folks texting me for answers to questions like hotel accommodations and other stuff I don't know yet. So I meant to sit down this weekend and just do a website. Actually I started but the sites were janky and slow to load, so I quit. Any reason why yall did/didn't do a website?

I have a wedding website, but its through my travel agent. We are doing destination. Some people still do there own, but I am not going to bother. General consensus is no one reads the darn thing anyway. But I may end up doing one because I don't want to do mail back RSVPs. So I shall see.

March 7, 2015! Our favors are bottles of water, a candy buffet, and cookies from Sams that we will be placing in cd covers and putting thank you stickers on top of. For the cookies, we will have to do that the thursday/friday before the wedding so nahh we haven't done it yet. The Bottled water is done though!

I bought a dress from aliexpress. It was sooo cheap $200 that if it comes out horrible I won't feel bad about it, but I was kinda sad that my dress didn't have a train so I got another one just in case I wanted to wear two dresses. I'm going to ask my seamstress to add a sweep train though.

We're going on a bachelorette weekend trip one week before the wedding. I'm excited! We're going to New Orleans for pole dancing and a painting class. We have a cute little agenda and everything. I think we're getting shirts from customink.com. The shirt design is below.

Had my second wedding nightmare last name. First time no one came to the wedding. Last night I hated the resort! It looked sooo old and dirty. More like a motel than a resort. I woke up and quickly looked at pics of the resort to calm myself. In my dream I was running around trying to cancel my room block and find another resort. Smh.

Things we have accomplished in the past week or so:

Picked a dress
Booked the dinner venue
Sent invites to print
Prepped wedding website (still under construction)

I feel good that we've crossed those things off the list. Still many more things to do but it's all good.

I kinda wanna get personalized flash drives, and load our favorite love songs on there for our guests instead of a wedding CD. I wonder how much that would cost.... *adds to list of things to research*

Did a practice run of my wedding makeup this weekend. One of many Im sure LOL. It was fun and SO loved the look. Gotta make an appointment in a couple months to get a trial set of lash extensions to see if that's what I want to do for the wedding. I dont like strip lashes and I've seen some really natural and pretty extensions.

SO doesn't want the traditional bachelor party type deal. So we're doing research on a "Day of Fun" for him and his boys the day before the wedding in Vegas. So far we've got ATV'ing, Paintball and ziplining. I think that's enough but I think he wants to add one more event. I'm happy for him.

I gotta figure out what I want to do with my homegirls before the wedding....

Do not use the knot if you want private. They're trifling as heck. I used www.weddingwoo.com and it was super easy. The knot allows your site to be searchable on the www. There's absolutely nothing you can do to make it private other than deleting the whole thing, which requires 50-11 hoops to jump through. It actually creates a cached link, so even if you remove your info, it's still out there in web searches unless you go through above hoops.

SamandI, tinkat and Taleah2009! weddingwoo was really helpful--thanks! (I have been meaning to followup my original post thanking you all who responded for about a week now.) I made a weddingwoo site--still haven't added several pages but I was excited at the ease of it and how pretty it was and I could just say "here is the info, for yall's conveniece!" He really hates the idea of the intrusiveness on a website so first of all, I am grateful you told me not to use the Knot and secondly....I have to decide how much deference I am going to show my precious future husband here will I delete it because he is sincerely uncomfortable or finish it and keep it posted for my convenience and that of our guests I will work that out. Anyway, thanks!


Briabiggles, you were right about the dress. Tried that style on--did not hate it, definitely did not love it. Back to the ole drawing board.

We ended up getting our pics done in pa for a cheaper price at longwood gardens instead of going to NY yesterday. I'm glad we changed our minds bc it snowed the day before. It was freezing yesterday but we too pics in the conservatory which is super warm. The pics that we saw so far came out good and the photographer was great. I am glad that part is over lol.

Yes we are and i love it. I initially had it with theknot and even purchased the domain but i couldnt play with it well enough to my liking so i found someone on fiverr.com.
I love it because she did most of the programming and my SO who's in IT helped some and i did the rest. The info about dress code, adult only event, link to reserve a hotel room and registry is all on there.

Included a card with hyperlink in the invitations so no one can ask me stupid questions and i dont have to explain why lil Tommy and Phoebe cant come.

Gosh maybe 7 or 8. I was set on 2 places but went with a totally different place due to their responsiveness and exclusivity. The coordinator is just soooo sweet i love her. She now works somewhere else but she'll be invited! Yes i love her that much



Sent out invitations last week. It was the hardest part IMO. Figuring out what goes in what and how to address and etc. So many late nights. They're folio invitations and i had NO idea how to assemble the boxes and SO helped with that. Now im working on finalizing everything and set up planning meeting with the venue.

Im soooo stressed out but i think the hardest part is over!

My dress appears to be made of cheaper tulle and handmade but it looks just like the pic!! I love it. I took the train off and will use the dress as a reception dress. I put the train on my current dress and now my dress is gorgeous

I had a week off. I thought I would've done a bunch of wedding stuff. I have addressed just one-third of my save the dates. LOL. I'm such a procrastinator.

My list:
-Bridesmaid dresses
-Limo
-Day of coordinator
-Finish sending save the dates
-Help FH research honeymoon locations
-Make an Excel sheet to track my spending (this I really don't want to do…putting my head in the sand feels so much better )

I am planning on sending save the date postcards. I'm not mailing all of them because a lot of them are for people I see regularly. For the ones I'm not mailing should I give it to them in an envelope? Or is it tacky to just give them the postcard in hand without the envelope?

We flew down south to really get wedding plans done. We did a lot for the amount of time we are here. We met with the caterer and did taste testing. We also went to a bakery to do taste testing. We visited out venue again. It was my fiancé first time and he loved it. We got our marriage license. Before we left to go on this trip we got the sample save the date magnets and it came out good so I'm ordering those. We met with a photographer that I may use but my sis also has a friend who says they can beat any other price so we will see. We are now at my moms house tackling wedding plans and really getting this list with addresses final. We go back home on Tuesday. This was a much needed trip and we accomplished a lot and it is good that my fiancé can get a feel of where I'm from. But we definitely been handling business. Last night was the first time I could sleep and then sleep in.

a little over 2 weeks! Going a little over budget(my budget since my dad refused to give me one) so im scrunching up numbers and negotiating with the vendors. Starting to get nervous and hoping nothing goes wrong.
