2015/2016 Brides Roll Call & Random Thoughts :-)

Bought his suit yesterday! It cost 1/10th of my dress. :look: He looks really handsome in it. Very glad we're not doing tuxes.

What color is the suit?

I'm torn between a suit and tux and I really want blue but that may not be an option. Shopping for his stuff if harder than getting me a dress

A medium shade of grey. Light weight for summer. I really like the look of grey suits for a more casual wedding. On of my girlfriends used blacktux.com to rent her hubby's outfit. She said they were great to work with and pretty reasonable. His tux was really nice. They have nice suits as well.

Check Macy's too. They have sales frequently and have a lot of options for different price points.

What are your wedding budgets if you don't mind sharing? I wonder if it's possible to do a nice 300 person wedding on $20k. Wishful thinking probably. :lachen:

How much did you spend on catering, photos and a planner? /What's your guest list size?

I will share, but mines is probably irrelevant because we are doing destination.

My quote for food for 65 guests is 6k. This is welcome drink, cocktail hour, dinner, and open bar

For decor my quote is another 6k ish. Because I upgraded chairs, beach gazebo, beach lounge area, entertainment ( we are having dancers and a fire show possibly) and all decor and flowers. I have 2 local planners that take care of everything. I just send them pics of what I want

For photo it's 2300 which includes 9 hours of photography and a next day trash the dress session

Our video is 650 for six hours a 45 min edited video and a 5 min highlight video.

So for just wedding cost (not including our own travel costs and attire) I am trying to be around 15k. But that number depends on how many people actually show up. We invited 235ish. Hoping for no more than 60 to actually show up.

We are getting married in punta Cana

I should add that getting married at home in philly would have been about a good 30k. Definitely could do it cheaper buttt we have a certain taste but a beer budget hence to the carribbean we go lol

I get so excited when I get an email from my travel agent letting me know that more guests have booked there trip.

I also get excited when people tell me they can't wait for our wedding. I be like yashhhhh but can you book your room please??!! Thanks lol
 
I'm not 100% certain of my wedding colors. I said sangria but now I'm not sure. I'm so indecisive lol. Need to figure it out before I get my bridesmaids together. I'll look at fall weddings for ideas.
 
Making progress on our list the last few days. Got a lot done for our registry, invitations ordered, website filled out more, first dance song picked. AND we picked my wedding band. I love it.

Mine is 18k for 120 people. I could cut costs places but he is being a diva

We ended up paying about 25k for 93 people.

I's married now!! :grin: :grin: My wedding was 3-14-15. Our wedding day was filled with so much love (and happy tears). Despite all the stressing and obsessing over small things, my wedding day was better than I imagined! Our honeymoon was amazing also!! I thought we were going on a cruise, but he surprised me with 7 days in Jamaica!! :love: :love: I am so in love with this man!! I am so happy that we are no longer long distance.

I sent out my engagement party invitations last week and no one has RSVP'd yet. I think I'm concerned.

Yes I did. I even put the self addressed envelop in with the invitation. The date is 3 weeks away but I still thought at least one person would have said yes or no by now.
 
Deposit deadline was last week. 60 folks confirmed this far for out destination wedding. I'm expecting about 15-20 more people to book. I really underestimated what our turn out would be. I blocked 30 rooms at the resort and I don't have enough! I had to request more rooms today. Ish getting really real

Depends. My wedding is about half that size and catering and venue alone is about 20K. Imagine factoring all other add ons…I just have a day of coordinator coming in to help in the last month and she is around 1500 or so…I'm in the Northeast, but talking to my friends in other areas of the country, most folks are spending at least 30K on a 200 person wedding. A friend of ours spent nearly 30 K on a 40 person wedding in Hawaii. Just FYI. I'm sure it can be done, but you would have to be pretty creative and flexible…i.e. marrying in the winter during low season…buying your dress on sample sale, etc.
 
Update!

My list of to dos from February:
-Bridesmaid dresses
-Limo
-Day of coordinator
-Finish sending save the dates
-Help FH research honeymoon locations
-Make an Excel sheet to track my spending (this I really don't want to do…putting my head in the sand feels so much better :lol:)

I've done all of this as of April 10th, except researching honeymoon locations. Woohoo. My current list of to dos are:
-Pre-cana classes - get the schedule for that
-Book a cake baker and taste samples
-Find a flower girl dress for my flower girl
-Find rehearsal dinner locations
-Choose an invitation and eventually order it by beginning of May
-Do my gift registry
-Finalize the look for my bridesmaids i.e. accessories
-Book my bachelorette flight and iron out details
-Start my workout regimen
-Start a look book for wedding hair and make up

Giving myself a month to get most of this done.
 
Had my first dress fitting today. I was nervous bc the dress felt really tight when I picked it up in January. Today it fit perfectly. I look BANGING! He's gonna die. They just need to take in the bust a little, add bra cups and put in a bustle. The length is perfect. She said that saved me $250! Yeeesh! I'm gonna skate by with just over $100 in alteration costs. THANK GOD!

Invitations go in the mail tomorrow!
