what was your worst hair product??

Motions Moisture Plus Conditioner!

I used it to deep condition my hair for a few weeks and instantly there were little 1/4 inch broken off pieces of hair everywhere. I finally realized this was the culprit and when I used a different conditioner, the breakage stopped immediately.

-Hawaiian Silky 14-n-1 made my hair feel like it had glue in it.

- Suave Rosemary Mint shampoo and conditioner need to be taken off the market!!! DRYING!!!
-Anything aPHogee makes my hair break off badly.

Everyone loves Nexxus so i decided to use it too hell 2 da no although it left my hair super shiny and bouncy at first by the time i took 20 steps my hair went into a poof ball and became very dry and tangled

Plus Dark and Lovely relaxer i kept it in the amount of time reccomended and when i washed it out it looked as if all i did was washed my hair. My new growth was unaffected...i couldnt believe it. Either it was the procduct or my new growth was really tripping that day!

Mizani Renew shampoo and reconstructing glee. I thought my hair need protein and this seemed like a good option. OMG it completely destroyed my hair. I think I used it once maybe twice at the most. After I used it, I started experiencing alot more shedding then usual and my hair was really dry. I got a relaxer 3 weeks later and that was it. I was shedding hands full of hair each time I ran my hand through my hair. I washed my hair and my hair (relaxed) dreaded and knotted up. I had to cut it all off and start over. I don't know if my hair is really protein sensitive or what but I didn't use anyother new products or anything else that would explain why my hair just started acting up.

Any and every product that has mineral oil in it :nono: I'd always see broken pieces of hair all over the place....once I dropped all products with mineral oil I haven't had that problem anymore.

All relaxers :nono:

...and surprisingly the So Sexy conditioner by Victoria's Secret  the few times I used it, bumps would form on my scalp then my hair would start shedding by the handful  :nono:

Suave Coconut Conditioner- Smells nice, but did nothing for my hair. It actually made it a little hard and somewhat dry. Not what I was trying to achieve from a cowash.

Vitale Olive Oil Hair Mayonnaise- A NIGHTMARE. The ingredients looked really really good and at $7 for a big jar, I thought I was getting a deal, but I guess this was too much protein for my hair because it became the driest I've ever felt it. It was really scary. I was getting extreme breakage, almost as bad as before I started caring for my hair. I used it a little over 3 weeks ago and my hair is finally almost fully recovered. I'll just stick to ORS Paks from now on.

wow really?!! becuase my hair love the Cholesterol and ORS, and i know i would love 14 n 1 becasuse my hair loves glycerin.

everyone's hair really is different:blush:!

IK:perplexed Strange Uh?:look: Girl, I hated that Lustrasilk Shea & Mango.:lachen: I had to pitch it (and trust me, I'm not one for throwing out product:look:)

I tried using the ORS Replenishing packs in pre-poo mixes (but I stopped 'poo-ing) so, I gave those away.:spinning:

I sent the HS 14 n 1 to another Poster.:yep:

Black gel and Jam..I use to think your hair should be hard as a helmet to be cute..not so..

I feel you on that, I hate gel and jam:wallbash:. I bought one, and it had the nerve to say for natural hair types..... man please these companies will say anything to get that buck... My hair came out so sticky and hard at times and that mess was even worse to wash out:perplexed

Anything by Carols Daughter! :nono: Those products are so expensive and did nothing for my hair but make it smell like I put perfume on it!

When this product was still small in the flagship store in Brooklyn it was sooooo much better. My brother would use the milk on my daughters hair back in 98 and it was fabulous. When she blew up the products went downhill:nono:.

Gentle Treatment Relaxer ...or any relaxer for that matter :nono:

I used a lot of other brands too, but I discovered my hair was just too fine for perms. Furthermore, my hair and scalp remained dry all the time. I think even now with knowledge of relaxed hair care, my hair would just be too thin-looking for a relaxer.

ITA - I have been flirting with the idea of partuially texlaxing recently when I get to a certain lenght i.e. put the relaxer on to help with shrinkage but not to get my hair totally straight and I must admit that I still wondering if my hair will still have that "thin look" it has after a relaxer..... :nono:

ORS carrot oil. Crap broke my hair off.

This and the ORS Olive oil moisturiser are awful :nono:

Thank Lusters pink oil was also just disgusting

I also cannot get along with that Chi silk infusion. Just having to smell that mess on my hair all day long gives me a headache. Do not like that smell.

I also did not like the smell of the CON green shampoo even though its a decent shampoo.

MTG - Smell - JUST CAN'T DO IT

The worst prroduct i ever used on my hair was the Keratin treatment, i dont know what was in it but my natural hair took it like it was permed. The product really scared me by my hair looked so straight but i just kept doing it and after awhile my hair started to have breakage.... i ended up cutting my hair because of the damage that was done to it. Feel free to post your worst hair product, hey you might just save somebody's hair.

~God bless

Same thing with me!!!! Its cost me $150.00 everyone liked it because it looked exactly like a relaxer but when my hair got wet there was no curls, waves nothing :nono:, I had to keep going to the salon to keep it looking nice, my hair was not FULL like I liked it. I guess its based on personal preference. The good thing I like is if you are natural and contemplating going back to relaxers you can have an 6-8 months window to test it out ...All the keratin washed out of my hair in exactly 8 months :lick:

Organix coconut shampoo and conditioner and Dark & Lovely deep conditioner. Both made my hair extremely hard and dry it out.

The worst product I used was Doo Gro stimulating growth oil....it gave no growth and left my hair a hot greasy mess :nono: plus it contained mineral oil. It didn't give me a setback but I could have bought something better like natural oils :yep:

Oh my Gosh! Everyone I know who used that hair fell out. It left their hair dry, greasy and snapping.

Now that I'm transitioning the Wave Nouveau is the worst stuff I have ever used. I started to shed and lose more hair while detangling.

I put a wave nouveau in my hair back in the early 90s and all my hair fell out and it was left very thin and I had bald spots. Those texturizers moisture sprays, creams are the worst. Gylcerin is not for my hair nor are chemical processes.

Hmm...so I HATED the following products because it made my hair feel dry and tangly WHILE I was using it. How can my hair feel like straw with water? You know a product sucks when!

Aussie Moist Conditioner
Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle
Aussie Moist 3 Minute Reconstructor
Herbal Essences Hello Hydration
Suave Humectant
Organix Coconut Shampoo AND the conditioner
Shea butter by itself
Aloe Vera Juice

IC Fantasia Gel (the clear one) SUCKED! Did not keep my hair laying smoothly and I had white crap in it. I will stick to my Ampro brown gel!

Suave Humectant works perfectly for my naps. That shampoo is best for people with very open cuticles so I can see it not working for everyone.

WORST PRODUCTS EVER !!!
1) Doctor Miracle's Temple and Nape Balm --------- took my nape out !
2) Loreal's Nature Hair Masque ---------- broke my hair off !
3) Megatek --------------------------- Severely thinned out my hair !

I know you asked for one, but I have to list several like everyone else.

Lusters Pink Oil Lotion was like brillo pad on my hair. Fortunately, I tested it on the front section (ends) only a few days after I came from the salon. My hair was hard as steel wool. I even set some aside and doctored it up, since I had a big bottle--which I bought on sale. I thought I would have to cut this section off. Fortunately, I had to press it and apply an oil blend to get it soft and supple again. Then I ended up giving it away, but for some people it works nice.

The crazy thing about it is that my stylist uses it on my hair from time to time, and I just discovered this out last week. He said: "It works good on your hair." I said: "Yes when you press it after you apply it with an oil blend."

Regarding the Elasta QP Mango Butter, it was nice and silky when I first used it. I was really impressed, and the smell is "heavenly!" The following morning I was so shocked that my ends were so dry--bone dry. I said to myself: "What happened to my ends?!" I decided to pour some olive oil in it--which made it better--but I won't be replacing it. Also, it will "mold" if it sits for a while . . . so it's best to put it in the freezer if you don't use it often--like me.

Aubrey Organics Honey Suckle Rose Shampoo – worked fine for the first three washes, but didn’t work afterwards. I had to use it for the first wash only—not enough oil in it according to my stylist, Rudy. I even added oil and it just didn’t work.

Nexxus Therappee--yes everyone raves about this one, but my hair stylist and I did not care for it. This did nothing for my hair, no slip whatsoever. I used it to wash my combs, and it left a film on them. I guess I will use it on my floor and rugs--or better yet, add a teaspoon of it to my other shampoos. This is definitely not a keeper.

Castor oil--It's too thick to use alone on my hair. I apply it to the edges, though, and that's it.

Murray’s Carrot Oil pomade–to thick to blend oils in.

I can't use olive oil alone on my hair or body. It works fine mixed with other oils, though.

Miss Jessie's Creme de la Creme. Smelled like dish soap and made my hair hard and angry. Thank god I only bought the sample for $2. Yuck!

Nexxus Phyto Organics shampoo and conditioner made my hair a HAM!!!!! :whip:

I was still trying to tweak my regimen and I saw "organic" and I figured that it had to be good....WRONG. My hair has never felt so horrible. It literally felt like that stuff sucked every bit of moisture out of my already moisture starved 4B, relaxed hair. I was shocked at how terrible this stuff was on my hair. I lost so much hair after just one wash. It was so bad that I haven't touched any Nexxus products since :nono: and this happened over two years ago!

A whole lot of things haven't worked for me (esp. when I was relaxed), but by far the worst product I've tried since going natural is Giovanni Nutrifix. I only used it once. My hair isn't protein sensitive (I actually do protein treatments at least once a week) but I swear, after I rinsed this stuff out, it was like I could SEE the cuticles in some strands all raised, rough and tangled with the other raised, rough, tangly cuticles of some of my other strands! :lachen:

Of course I couldn't actually see that...but at the time, I swear...

I can laugh at it now because my hair bounced back rather quickly, but I will never touch that stuff again.

My worst product ever was silk element conditioner. The first time I used it a small amount went into my mouth and my tongue went numb, then some of my mouth. I threw it out then took an anti histamine. I was so scared I don't remember what my hair felt like.
