Hot combing it so often 2 summer ago since my mom did not want to relax my hair during the summer months. I know, I jacked up my hair. But, I'm back on the right track now.
Back when I was a teenager, I had my hair dyed golden bronze. After a while, my natural color started coming through at the roots, and I didn't want two-toned hair. I came across a small packet of powder at the local BSS that said "hair color remover". So of course I said, great!
Got home, mixed it up, applied it to my hair. About a minute or so later, I noticed that my hair was getting lighter...and lighter...eventually I started looking like
and washed it out. What I saw next had me like
My hair was sooooooooo dried out, and the color was now three different shades of brown. It went from dark-medium-light. I had no moisture at all, it looked EXACTLY like a lion's mane...
I think I got to my hair stylist the next day cause I was NOT going to school like that!!! Anyway, she looked at it and I wanted her to dye it a color close to mine and she said "ohhhhhhhhh noooooo I can't do that" I said "ohhhhh yesssss you can, I'm giving you permission" Then she started speaking about how she could lose her license, etc. etc.
Her sister had the nerve to say, "the color looks nice on you". I think I almost started crying, then I grabbed the box and said that I would do it myself, and I did, right there at the shop.
The end result was beautiful, the color was perfect. I was so happy...and lucky

Hmmm.. Sounds like you used UNCOLOR. That stuff messed my hair up
The worst thing i did to my hair was to cut it short when i was 10 years old, i was tired of my waistlength hair
because i could only wear it in a bun...i didn't know that this was a protective style until i discovered this board last year. but my hair grew back really fast to its original length.the other bad thing i did to my hair was relaxing it
...My mom gave me a relaxer, but i didn't know it was a relaxer
'cos i had never relaxed my hair, suprisingly my mom didn't know either...she just said it would make my curls dissappear . after i relaxed it, i had a lot of breakage (i never relaxed it again). Now i'm still coping with breakage (it's almost been 2 years) and my hair is at bra strap.
I would relax my hair and dye it in the same week. and then keep dyeing it every 6 weeks with a permanent light bronze dye. And I would use heat on it everyday. The first picture on my photo page shows you how my hair looked then.
Wearing weaves for about two years without washing and conditioning properly. Also allowing stylist to put that brown goop of gel in my hair for flat twist. That stuff dried my hair out so bad, it took a month to get it back moisturized.
The worst thing I ever did to my hair was getting THREE full roots to ends perms in a mad attempt to straighten my hair! Needless to say,my hair still did not straighten. The tripped out thing about it was that my hair did not come out. It grew...
