♥~♥ SINGLE MOTHERS SUPPORT THREAD! ♥~♥

shortdub78 Thank you so much for the empathy.
it will get better. Maybe set up a time when it's just you and him. Like rent a movie and get his favorite snacks. Does he like video games? Get a game that he likes that you two could play together! Is he into Legos? Have a Lego building contest. I'm just thinking of some stuff that may help him want to relax and open up to you. If it doesn't get better, seek family counseling.

Hello ladies. Ok. So my non-verbal 5 yr old finally said his PCA's name! It came out kind of gutteral and cave-manish, but he definitely used two syllables and...bless his heart...really went for the "d" sound. Wen-da!

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. He said it 3 times in total. I wish I could have recorded it, but he won't do anything on cue.

This was a big step for him. He won't even say mama. He said it once 3 yrs ago and his been mum since. He will sign it though.

As lonely as I get sometime being single and all, I swear, my kid makes me feel like the luckiest person alive. It was a little over a year ago when he started getting in and out of bed on his own. For those who don't know, he was born with Spina Bifida and has some paralysis in his lower extremities and uses a wheelchair. So the bed thing was a big deal. Now he's trying to talk! I'm very excited by this. Every milestone he reaches is so monumental when you consider how hard he and his therapists and teachers work on it.

The other day he ate pineapple chicken stirfry without choking which is a HUGE deal since chewing is a challenge, too. I mean, he's eating waffles, pancakes and sausage, too! Scrambled eggs. A year ago I was pureeing everything.

These are exciting times. Thanks for letting me share!

these are major milestones! Celebrate good times come on! Lol I'm so happy for you and him! I have an autistic child, so I somewhat understand what that means! My DD was nonverbal. Now she won't be quiet! Lol that's funny that he won't do it on cue! We will call him Michigan J. Frog!

All of you ladies are such good moms! Even if we don't always get it right sometimes, or it seems our efforts are never enough, we are alright and our kids will be exceptional adults!

This post made me tear up. I'm so excited and proud (like this is my child). I know it gets hard, but obviously you are doing and AMAZING job. Your son is doing wonderful things and this is just the beginning. I'm so happy for you both. CONGRATULATIONS! I can't wait to hear more about his progress.

Truth! At the last ECSE meeting I had with his teachers, they claimed he never makes a peep at school. I'm like WHAT?
This boy makes all kinds of noises at home, blabbing and squealing and laughing and grunting...non stop...and he's mum at school????

He was like that during the whole meeting, too. If I asked him to do something, he just sat there staring with his mouth all slacked jaw looking dumb.
But as soon as we got in the car..."Hello my baby! Hello my honey! Hello my ragtime gal!!!" Unreal.

:bighug: Thank you, honey. I think we are all doing amazing jobs with our kids. Being single moms ain't no joke! I'm glad I lived long enough to experience it.

Awww IronButterfly reading on your sons progress just made my day. So happy fir you and him. You are doing an excellent job!

shortdub78. Love the creativity! Adorable! You both must have had a great time putting it together despite the work.

May I share good news too? DD won an award last week for most proficient writing in her grade. She also got top scores in all areas of her report card. This week she is also being tested to determine her advancement level for next year. She wont be skipped a grade (yet) but will most likely be placed with the advanced students. We spent a good chunk of the weekend celebrating. She wanted to spend her savings early on a few toys. She also went to children's theatre to watch a play with her friends. Good times!

Congratulations @IronButterfy and @ DarkJoy! I love seeing women fight for their children and the rewards it reaps. Good job mamas! :)

Wonderful! How old is your dd? I love hearing about academic achievement among our children. It's something that will never leave them and no one can take away. Congrats!!

Keep the good news coming ya'll. We are getting more snow. I need all the good happy news I can get!

Ooh, I'm going to need y'all to talk to Jesus for me. I pray that this this principal woman give me a good reason why my child was outside with another classmate playing with no adult supervision a short time after dismissal. I'm going to pray that I remember I'm a baby Christian.

My oldest cap and gown came today
ya'll  the next two months are senior prom and graduation, I can't believe it. She is at her dad's and he text me a picture of her trying it on and I teared up. Then he and I text for an hour reminiscing starting from taking her home from the hospital in what we called a little blue clown car  so then I was laughing and crying! Whew...time needs to slow down..

I have a genuine question for the divorced mothers in this thread......

But I'm me, and I know that people are suspicious of me and my intentions (and dramatic behavior lol) so I dont think that I'll be able to ask it.....

Hugs....I was there last year. My middle child cap and gown came in today. She takes the second half of her senor pics soon. She is going to summer enrichment program at her college so she will be leaving home 12 days after graduation. I will be hitting the bottle.

Ask away... Being a fellow Pieces I get you so ask.

Speaking of divorceés, exH is out of remission of his chronic lifelong illness. He looks and feels like hell. He didnt bother to purchase obamacare during open enrollment (you got a disease but dont even try for health insurance? Reason 149,343,530 why we divorced ). Saw him yesterday and told him I can keep our dd until he gets it under control. He insists he is ok for now. But I am prepared in the eventuality he cant do his 50%.

Despite everything I do hope he feels better soon. I don't like to see him sick like this.

Well I got terrible news this AM. My cousins 14 yo dd is missing. Please everyone if you would pray, greatly appreciate it. She has been skipping school. They found her cell phone but not her.

We are having a family meeting tonight. I will keep you guys updated.
