2015/2016 Brides Roll Call & Random Thoughts :-)

random thought...i get tired of thinking about what needs to get done, so i end up putting it off. it's not till i see my ticker on LHCF that i then try to push myself to finish tasks. so far, I have the church and venue booked, photog booked, and florist booked. Asked my bridesmaids. Going dress shopping this month and trying to get our website together and the STDs out by the end of this month - mid-February.
 
Is there anyone who didn't do an engagement shoot or engagement party? Also I'm wondering if save the dates are necessary.

I did not do an engagement party. We didn't want to deal with the hassle. I did do an engagement shoot and I recommend it. It's fun, the pics are beautiful, and you can use the pics on your wedding website. A lot of photographers will do the shoot for free if you sign with them for the wedding. I am doing STDs too. I love receiving them and it's easier to do that to make sure everyone you want to come knows about the wedding.

Things I may not do:
-Bridal shower - I told my mom it's on her if we have one, b/c it'll be for her friends. I'm good with just a bachelorette.

We did not do an engagement party but we did do an engagement photoshoot to put on the wedding website and save the dates. We needed to send out save the dates because about 80% of out guests are from out of town and are spread out all over the world.
 
We got engaged on Christmas. I was really shocked and cried. I never cry.

We're going to do a small engagement party then just go to the courthouse/elope before the end of the summer (most likely late July). We hope to honeymoon in the Bahamas.

No engagement party here.

We did do engagement photos. It was really nice to get some professional pictures together. We used them for our save the dates, Christmas presents for family and nice framed pics for our homes.

Oh I also decided no engagement pics because we are going to do the trash/rock the dress session the day after the wedding on the beach

Either a Spanx the type that looks like long shorts that will control your tummy and thighs or a corset bra for tummy control. If you get the spanx get the ones that come with a clip that attaches to your bra so you won't have to keep pulling it up. If you go with the corset one make sure that you can't see the line where it stops at your waist because the waistline of the dress is low. Keep in mind that you will have to pee so any undergarment will have to give you easy access to squat over the toilet

Our photographer normally does a test shoot before the wedding and allowed us to use that as our engagement shots. The other option is one of my coworkers does photography for fun and got a few shots of us that we ended up using on the wedding favors. We didn't do an engagement party or save the dates.

The only issue is the bra part looks high and if it isn't the exact color of your skin you may see the top if your dress shifts
 
Ordered my STDs. I really want boarding pass invitations, but I can not justify spending 800++ dollars on the invitations. I have been searching the web and found some templates and I am contemplating hard about DIYing them. I just need to figure a few logistics.
 
I didn't do an engagement party and I don't understand the need for engagement photos so not doing those either. I plan to have my save the dates out by the end of the month for my October wedding. I'm tempted not to do those but I got engaged last August, my wedding isn't until this October, and I don't want no bullsh*t. Seriously, loved ones: save that date :look:
 
Do y'all want plain bands or the matching band to your engagement ring with the stones around them? On the one hand, 1) everytime I come your city: bling bling. On the other hand, 2) I guess a band is timeless and classic and won't get stuck in my hair strands as easily :look:

taleah...we invited 100something and so far 50 are confirmed but other people are making their own travel plans. I think we might hit 60something.

My date is 6/26/2015...Punta Cana! :reddancer:
 
I did my STDs through Zazzle and my invites also. between the both of those, I didnt spend no more than 300. I want an engagement shoot and will plan something when the weather gets a bit warmer.

Everyone is on me about this dress. I am going to look this weekend. I thought i would have lost more weight by now. :perplexed

For the destination brides, are you planning a welcome gift? I was going to get a canvas bag with goodies such as sunscreen and lip balm.
 
We did welcome boxes for our guest staying in the rooms we blocked. They had items: mini water bottles, mini bags of chips, crackers, gum, list of events for the weekend, directions to the wedding/reception and some other goodies. Our guest loved them!!!

Here is a pic. Lordt, my camera was horrible in 2007. LOL I made the sticker labels.

I got my dress today. :reddancer:

It was the first one I tried on too. One and done.

I also got a birdcage vile. and a blinged out belt.

It feels soooo real now! :drunk:
 
I've decided to knix the engagement photo shoot and shorten the engagement party to just a dinner with select friends and family members. Still need to order some save the dates. I hate mailing out stuff though.
 
We're heading to Vegas next week to finalize everything, then getting married in October. :yay: It doesn't feel real to me yet, but I think flying to Vegas to plan things will make it feel more real. :yep: My fiancee reminded me this morning that we have roughly 9 months til the wedding so I need to pick a dress lol.... I'm just not that pressed over a wedding dress to be honest, I'm more concerned with my shoe selection. :look: :lol:

I just bc'd over Christmas so I'm really anxious to see what kinda hair growth I get in the coming months.. I don't want to wear extensions to be honest; I don't think you have to have long hair to compliment the wedding gown.. I'm also toying with the idea of doing a natural hairstyle instead of straightening, but I need to do some research on styles, etc.

Im doing my own makeup (I'm a MUA) so I need to start practicing my look, etc.

I don't feel stressed, just really happy and excited. :D
 
I had my 1st fitting today. it was so last minute. She said to bring my dress in February back when i had just one dress so i called to make an appointment. She found out it was 2 dresses and asked me to come in asap with both. I had so much fun and she made me feel so good. I also took my veil which is longer than Cathedral length. Im so excited!

Im still waiting for my reception shoes to get lower in price cos i still refuse to pay what they're going for now :nono:

I also made the final payment for the invitations and they should arrive soon.
 
It took me a while to get involved but I'm knocking this stuff out :look:

Photographer retained.

Venue booked. Food booked.

Dresses narrowed down to three for my mom to review and advise.

Save the dates ordered.

I still need to retain my officiant, arguably THE most important piece of it all, but that shouldn't be hard right? :look: the pastor of my church that I've attended since childhood is white....and I'd prefer a black officiant :look:, so I'm gonna contact the pastor that married my parents if my mom doesn't do it first. (Yes, I know I need to look into changing churches if I feel that way. I'm working on it :look:)

Patiently waiting for the arrival of our save the dates. A lot of people have expressed interest in coming to our destination wedding. I wonder how many will end up actually coming.
 
I know I might have 150 to 200 people which I didn't want. Vegas is looking really good right now lol. I was stressed and now I'm just like whatever. Not gonna worry about it anymore.
