~*Thicker Hair Challenge 2010*~

I'm in! I'm adding this to my list of challenges for 2010.

I will be stretching my texlaxes for 12-16 weeks
using direct heat only once a month
and using jbco to help maintain moisture and thickness

my starting pic from Dec 29th is in my siggy

Is that all I need to "officially" be a member?

Add me! i want thicker hair, especially in the back middle where I had some breakage 2 years ago. But i also want overall thickness.

Regimen: still a work in progress, but as of this year it will be KeraCare shampoo and dc (protein: ORS; moisture: KeraCare Humecto/Nexxus Humectant) 1x week, cowash 2x week if need be, moisturize ends daily with roots of nature shea butter and green tea moisturizer and olive oil, prepoo with olive oil and coconut oil. Hot oil treatment when needed.
Protective/low maintenance styles: rollersets, flexirod sets, braidouts, twistouts, buns....NO DIRECT HEAT!

^^^I always wondered about that. I will see if this works for me.

I mean if I was to M&S daily and then cowash and wash every 3-4 days my hair would be mush heaven. So with my DC and cowash and M&S maybe 2-3 days I am good.
I mean you can try it and see how that works for you.

Nothing special-just wanted to peek in. I drank my horsetail tea and massaged my scalp with just about every oil I have, for about 10min. last nite.

I would like to join this challenge. I use protective styling by wearing a phony pony, and have fine 4b hair that is texlaxed. I did a self-texlax yesterday, and really need to thicken up my hair, as you can see my scalp now.

I will post a starting pic before the end of the week

Tomorrow is wash day and I cant wait my head itches bad. I am not sure what I am going to DC with yet but I will be back tomorrow.

I'm in. I have seen my hair thicken up dramatically since I began making low-manip. a staple part of my hair care routine. Also, no combing while dry (if combing on a day besides wash day, I spray with leave-in/S-Curl and coat w/Shea Butter and oil to reduce breakage and friction) has made a huge difference.

My regi is basically S&DC when needed with a moisturizing shampoo, deep condish (one protein first, then a moist condish), braiding while damp, airdrying, and wearing a LF/full lace wig. My hair is growing a lot, and thickening up a lot. I take care to moisturize my hair (especially the ends, which tend to be dry), "grease" or oil my scalp (which gets dry in winter, (also I want to increase growth), and taking my vits (I try to stay committed). I have quite a few products I alternate, so I won't list here. So far, so good. My hair loves to be left ALONE.

ETA: I am picking up some JBCO on my next BSS run to try on my hair...besides that, I've been on a No-Buy Challenge for many MONTHS now, since I have a large stash to use up.

I will be doing a dry DC today using Nexxus Humectress (its only a small amount left), CON purple, squirt of ApHogee 2 min, and coconut oil.

Then I will wash with Aphogee Damage Poo and then do a cowash with Salon Care Honey and Almond Conditioner to soften my hair up a little.

I came sooo close to buying some JBCO today but talked myself out of it and spent $35 at drugstore.com instead on hair crap! Guess I need to join a PJ challenge too!

Just checking in:
I deep conditioned (protein+moisture) on saturday and did a felxi rod set.
Yesterday I tried Giovanni smooth as silk deeper moisture shampoo and conditioner and it was AMAZING! My hair actually felt like silk! This is my first time using this brand or any other organic brand. It's definately gonna become my staple if the results continue. I half airdrying half bonnet drying my hair in 4 flexible rods.
Today I'm wearing a sock bun and I'm sooooo proud of myself! lol I can feel healthier ends on the way!!

I plan on doing a protein deep condition with Giovanni protein infusion this weekend. I will use deeper moisture conditioner afterward. then more bunning

Im trying really hard to not comb my hair so much, but today I saw several knots in my hair. Im waiting for my new hair products to come in the mail, until then, they will have to stay :( I hope my hair doesnt break off.

Did you say thicker hair :look:, I'm in, this challenge will not only compliment the others I'm in but will also help me to try and achieve another of my goals.

my starting pic is in my sig, I'll post my regi in updates as I have decided to start tweaking

How are you ladies applying the JBCO so that it is not a sticky mess.:perplexed I am sure I missed something. My technique was not so great. :nono: I dont have JBCO will black castor oil work? I think thats what I have. Is this like molasses? (So embarrased.)
Anywho, all I did today was mosturized and massaged.

I was going to cowash today, but I chickened out. I haven't done one yet and i'm scared of what it'll do to my relaxed hair. :ohwell: I combed my hair today and it felt nice. In the past I always combed my hair everyday, more than once. Lately i've only finger combed but using the detangling comb really made a difference today. I air dried to about 90% and blow dried the rest on cool. After it was dry I moisturized, sealed, and baggied. :yep:

Relaxed heads Cowash all the time. It wont do any damage. Most relaxed heads that cowash do a braid outs or twist outs after.

I use an applicator bottle so i can squeeze it directly to my scalp :)

Yes the oil is very thick...but you can add a tiny bit of EVOO to thin it out a little...yet enough to not interfere with its efficiency:yep:

Ok here's my starting pic. I rarely post pics but wth:blush:

I will be following sunshyne from hairliscious regimen. I've been following that regimen and it works great for me.
