~*Thicker Hair Challenge 2010*~

Love.Akihsoy, i'm so glad you checked in with your routine outlined!
i've been wanting to try dc ing with yogurt because i've read here where they say it helps with the new growth.....is that what you found?

please let us know how it worked out as opposed to just using the ors (which i use and LOVE, too) :yep:

Sorry for the delay, grow, I just saw this!!

But the yogurt really DOES work to make the NG softer... I've read that it's a natural relaxer but I didn't experience a loosening of my NG, it just made it super soft and made the little curls pop more. And mixing it w/ the ORS... awesome!

checking in!! I've been staying consistent with my reggie! I also decided to bun strictly until the end of March so I hope I retain tons of length and THICKNESS by making this commitment...

Still using MN, stretching my relaxers and wearing a lot of protective styles to maintain and retain whatever hair grown on this head of mine to achieve optimal thickness in the year up ahead.

Me too! I hear ya, I couldnt have said it better.:yep:

Hi I am not in this challenge but can some one please answer the earlier question of how co-washing thickens hair please?

TIA

I'm 100 years late but, can I still join you? I always felt I had thick hair but, my hair seems thin these days. It might be because I haven't seen my hair fully dried since January but, just in case, I'd like to fatten these strands, if I can. So uh, sign me up, please. I want in! :yep:

I am not aware that co-washing thickens hair stellagirl. I think that by not washing with shampoo and choosing to wash your hair with conditioner instead, you reduce the risk of harshly stripping the natural oils from the scalp, hence encouraging better hair growth.

Not only can the regular use of shampoo strip the hair and scalp of it's natural oil, but it can cause split ends, frizzy hair and ultimately breakage if they're not taken care of in a timely fashion. So you see how this alone can cause thinning of the hair.

I don't think that cowashing thickens the hair per se, but it does help with reducing the excessive loss of natural sebum from the scalp, thus providing a more welcoming flora for hair growth, if that makes sense. HTH!

I wish I had thick hair sigh*

I'm right there with you. I love my air dried relaxed hair because it looks so thick....almost like blown out natural hair. I can't wait to get to a long length like BSL or MBL because I'd only wear my hair big and air dried.

As my hair grows, it's definitely feeling heavier and stronger in the shower (I'm a daily cowasher). And the 2 times that I dried it with a cool blowdryer, it definitely looks thick and healthy so, I'm doing something right. Even my shed strands look thicker. :yep:

did we all forget about this challenge? lol

I'm still in, still following my reggie, and I'm happy to report that my ponytail is getting thicker!

How's everyone else doing?

I haven't forgotten about it but my hair is in braids and I have no idea what my hair thickness is like right now. But hey, I'm hanging in there for sure.
