Steaming Challenge 2012 - Part 1

I did my steam treatment tonight with a mix of Shea moisture, ORS intense moisture mask mixed with coconut oil.

yaya I have the other one. The one you have was out when I ordered mine and I'm thinking it might have been a good thing with my two crazy girls. On mine the red arrow is the refill hole and my water container hangs out. So, I'm clueless about yours. LOL

My steamer just came in and i assembled it. What do I do with this little cup thingy? I can't seem to make it fit. Am I supposed to remove the little plastic holder? There are no instructions... HELP!

I would love to join because I just got my steamer in the mail yesterday!!

1. How often you will steam? 1x a week on my wash day, Sunday

2. What method are you using to steam? My new hooded steamer, cant remember the brand.

3. What products will you steam with? Giovanni Smooth as Silk & some oils, until I find a better deep conditioner.

I cant wait to steam for the first time!!

Steam slacker checking in. I want to steam tonight but I'm feeling a little tired. :ohwell: Ugh! My hair's screamin' for a steamin'.

Following Up: So my first foray into steaming appears to have been successful. Although it took my hair a full 9+ hours to dry (yep...) When it FINALLY did dry, it was so shiny and curls were poppin' in places I didn't know had curls! LOL This is a much better result than I have ever gotten from that DC (Heaven in Hair by DevaCurl) and I think that's because the condish is rather thick and normally just kind of "sits" on top of the hair. With the steaming, it really liquified and (I think) sunk in to the hair. And just think, that was only 10 minutes worth of steam! One thing that I like about the Huetiful demos I've seen, is that it looks like the steam kind of stays up in the bonnet where your hair is instead of dousing your whole upper body (my experience at the salon). I might actually invest after this, but I'll keep up with the challenge for now using my current method--in the name of science! ;)

Sprayed my hair with SAA infused rosewater but my hair was dry before I got a chance to add my avocado and wgo....steamed those in:yep:

last night I faux steamed w/ a shower cap..
I used silicon mix.

My hair just LOVES this conditioner.

Patiently waiting for my water reservoir thing to come.

I steamed last night with Nioxin System 8, my scalp was tingling the whole time steaming. That was my second steam for the week.

It really reminds me of sunshine. It is like some good ole yellow, whipped, scented shea butter. I plan to try it on my skin too :yep:. It has almond butter and coco butter in it too :lick:. I like the way it smells and my hair feels so soft after steaming with it. It also completely penetrated....we know I'm heavy handed. Not heavy, really whipped.

Thanks! I have it, but haven't gotten around to it. I was going to use it under dryer or Heat Cap right before Cowashing.

Now I see Steaming is also an Option. Can't wait to try it. I also have the Pre-Poo from "It's Perfectly Natural" that looks more like a Hair Grease instead of a Creme.

And the SM Purification Masque.

I'm currently using this Green Tea w/Caffeine one. It says leave on 2-5 minutes Max. I apply on Dry Hair & then Cowash.

Yesterday I did a protein treatment with Dudley's DRC-28. And judging by the way my hair reacted to it, it *really* needed it. I followed it up with a steam treatment using Joico Moisture Recovery Balm.

My hair feels good!

Hi, I am not officially in the challenge because I don't have a steamer, but I steam my hair in my bikram yoga class, with a DC sealed in oil. It comes out so soft. Today, I went into the steamer before class and got some extra benefits. Yum.

When you make the Investment in Good Product(s), you truly get your Money's worth by Putting that Steam to it.:lick:

I just think Products perform richer, better, deeper, fuller with Steam.

Even those so-so DC'ers get Kicked Up another notch with a little steam.:yep:
