Honi Naw, I don't touch the coils. Even though they're cloudy, I'm afraid that if I clean them, it'll break my precious.

I just clean the water holding cup thing-a-ma-jig. Don't know what it's called. I remember reading that you aren't supposed to keep any part of the steamer wet for an extended period of time, so after I use the steamer, I take off the cup so the coils can dry.

Wow, I didn't know that. I'll have to start doing that in the future.

To the ladies using the lcl/ salonsrus steamer, does the water in the tank get cloudy?

I recently brought mine up from the basement and it had a lot of mineral deposit in the loading sprout which kept it from working properly which is why I had stopped using it. I actually thought it was broken, so word of advice use distilled water only or if you don't, try to clean it regularly. I called the company and they suggested running a 3 part water to 1 part vinegar to clean it, then run a water cycle before using. I did 1 Acv/water & 2 water cycles but the water in the tank turns cloudy and I cant remember if it used to do that when it was new.

I kept reading about people steaming, and felt left out :giggle: Figured might as well get my money's worth instead of leaving it in my basement to collect duet :ohwell:

I run a cycle with vinegar + water, followed by a water cycle about once a month. I consider it routine maintenance. I want to keep the Steamer working as long as possible. I consider it my best investment in my hair since I started this Natural hair journey. -- Nichelle_jb

Today's wash day so I'm planning to steam with grapeseed oil and KBB's Luscious Locks Hair Mask (my favorite Deep Conditioner) :lick:

Cowashed with yes to carrots. Dc'd with terressentials LL for an hour. Steamed AOHSR for 30 then baggied while I cleaned the kitchen. Going to flat iron for the first time since August. I am going to use crisco.

@Zaz

I think the Cloudiness in the Water Reservoir is from the Condensation of the Steam mixed with the DC'er.

I know a few times when I Steamed with ButtersNBars Clay Masque, the Water in my Reservoir was a Pink-ish Color. That was the Color of the BnB's Masque.

So, I looked at it as the Condensation from the Steam (water) mixing with the DC'er. After that, I was afraid to Steam with that product. I did it several times, but was leery.

That's one reason I don't Steam my Henna in. Alot of People do, because it cuts down on time, I Don't though, because I don't want any unforseen problems with my Steamer by circulating that moisture.

I bet the folks that Steam in Henna, have a reddish-tinge in their Water Reservoir.

IDareT'sHair thanks T, but I haven't even steamed yet and the water was cloudy :nono:
It had been sitting in the basement for too long and needed more than just one acv/water cycle to clean it. But I'll keep that in mind if it starts getting cloudy again when I do sit under it with a DC :yep:

ummm. ok- I will steam today...been slacking, but I need to steam for this week. I will most likely steam on the weekends when I have more time-

lovingmyhair2 , IDareT'sHair,

I am not sure how I feel about it yet... It has a very synthetic smell, and has a smooth, light texture. It detangled my hair VERY well, but my hair felt greasy as I was rinsing it out. I also felt like the conditioner just stayed on my hair instead of being absorbed. I am not impressed and for the price ( $16 for 8oz) I will not be repurchasing this.
Let me know how you like it once you use it!

I know.:ohwell:

Yeah...I was a little 'put off' by the price tag too.:ohwell:

Not....sure I may end up swapping it. :look:

For some reason, I always end up reaching for something else.

I'm steaming...but not my hair. Steaming mad I missed my steaming this week :( I usually DC (with steam) in the steam room (OK I've done it once, but I'm really going to do it every week) after my daughter has swim class and I have water aerobics. Well, after DD's class I get a disturbing phone call from a bill collector and went steaming home to pull out my records and set the record straight! Turns out I was wrong. But my day was so discombobulated--and it was just too cold to do the wet head thing, so I just called it. I'm comin' back strong next week! Don't kick me out!

I steamed with hempseed and castor oil.    O.M.GEEEEEEEE!!! My ends are like butta, BUTTA!! My hair is so soft and springy. I heart my hair right nah.

Steamed with a mix of aloe vera juice and Enso Marshmallow & Moss serum mix. Will steam again later with CTDG.
