Men-free Zone ~ The Non-romantic Relationship Thread

Twin sister is coming over tomorrow and we're not going to do a single thing. I already bought the snacks and wine. She kicked me off the phone just now to watch shark tank. After I told her I took out her favorite pajamas she leaves at my house for girls night and the blanket with the fleece on the edges. She still shooed me off the phone so I kept texting her to be annoying. Lol then she sent a text "thanks sissy, tomorrow gonna be fun now let me watch my show in peace"

No plans for the weekend. Tonight I'm watching TV and planning the cook enough for the next few days. I've gained some weight and need to get rid of it before the weather gets warmer so I'm planning to low carb for the next few weeks.

Im here just like @TinyBlu enjoyg my relationship w myself, alone. Schls was closed this week and everybodys gone - i love the silence. Me chillin w me! I had the whole week 'off' - no kids, no man. Did thgs at my own pace. Ate what i wanted. Didnt have to rush home after work. It was grand! But alas, todays my final day in paradise :cry3:I love my family but i needs my ME time. So im gonna have me a bowl of cherry vanilla ice cream drizzled w lots of courvoisier and savor my last moments. Tata!

I am DYING.

I'm out with my cousin and our former mayor comes in. He must have decided he was gonna come talk to the only negroes in the bar cuz he come over, sits down and starts having a convo with us. My cousin insists it was my #blackgirlmagic. He's super into politics and will be running for office so he's all in his feelings right now..

'm going to try and convince my little brother to go see "I am not your negro" with me
I plan to see this today. Been wanting to for a while but something always comes up. I'm trying to squeeze it in before the Oscars.

I'm also gonna watch Hell or High Water with a friend tonight. (Another Oscar contender.) I like to see as many of the nominated as possible before the show.

Sunday I'm going to an annual Oscars party with my friend. I have my cocktail dress and everything

A co worker and I have become really good friends at work! She is crazy fun just like me! We really "get" each other! Our first time hanging out with each other will be Sunday! I'm so excited for a new female friend! :)
Yay! I love finding new people I click with.

I finally introduced myself to this beautiful black woman who lives in my building. I've run into her a few times but the last time I stopped and spoke. Turns out we're from the same city and went to school in the same state. She said, wow, looks like we're meant to be friends

We exchanged numbers and will hopefully hang out soon.

Thank you for starting this thread @hopeful. This morning I was listening to a YouTube video of a woman who's been a sahm all her life. She said that back in the days, when women got married they didn't move away too far from home. This ensured that they always had a support system they could fall back on instead of expecting their husbands to fulfil their every need. It ensured balance in a woman's life.

@MzLady78 Ooh la la look at you hobnobbing with the elite. That's pretty cool.

My mother(86) and I went to a gospel concert last night. It was excellent! My voice teacher was one of the performers. Then I took her to a restaurant in the area for wine and appetizers. She said, "Look at me. Out on a Friday night!"

Oh I love this! My mom passed away 2 1/2 years ago. What I wouldn't give to have a "date" with her again. We had so much fun together. Nothing like a mother's love. I'm so happy for you and her.

I'm sorry about your mom! My father passed away 2 1/2 years ago so my mother doesn't have all the social activities that she used to be involved in. Their social life was way more active than mine!

My pleasure. Women need each other. We need close, non-romantic relationships. It is healing and nurtures our souls.

Thank you. Sorry about the loss of your dad. Sounds like we were both grieving around the same time. Sounds like your parents had a lovely partnership:).

I have a new office mate... a black AA woman. It tickled me when I let loose with a Jamaican curse word one day (which i do because nobody knows what it means), and she was like "LeftRightRepeat, I am shocked" :giggle:.. It's nice to finally have another black woman in close proximity. I only see the other black folks at work in passing.

My bestie is Jamaican! So close to AA culture, but still different. I love attending her family affairs. She is so warm and nurturing but doesn't take crap from anyone.

While my birthday is next Tuesday, I'll be celebrating this weekend with family and a very small selection of friends. Tonight we partying. Cake, drank, hookah, and lots of dancing. I cant wait.
Thank you @hopeful for this thread

Oh wow that sounds like fun! Happy Birthday to you! I know you will have a ball hanging with close family and friends. "Cake, drank, hookah, and lots of dancing" sounds like a great combo!
:bdance::birthday2::birthday3:
