:lachen: You are so crazy girl!

Long hair on me is nicer. Short hair makes my face look even rounder -- which I hate.

The only nice thing about short hair IMO is that most short styles take on some sort of a definite style/cut (think: Halle berry) where as long hair is usually just long with a blunt cut or maybe one would have layers.

I love seeing women with nice definite cuts (mostly short hair styles). There are not as many ways to wear long hair in defined cuts.

Longer hair makes me look younger which is not a good thing for me. I am 24 and I can pass for a 15 year old at times. When I had my short hair cut years ago in college I was told it made me look a lot older.

Well, I think that now that I've dedicated myself to a healthier lifestyle AND good hair care I feel much better about myself and a couple of my family members have said that I look "happy" more often, whatever that means. I mean, for the first time in my life, I got up super early and went to the gym on campus for a 30 minute cardio session (doing another one tonight) and I felt great afterward! I thought I was going to feel tired and upset since I hadn't eaten anything and I've been eating less (but healthier) but it was just the opposite. I wasn't even really hungry after the workout. I just ate a yogurt. I actually went to bed late last night and I'm still full of energy right now (as you can tell from the long post). The long hair is just icing on the cake now!

I say this with a most humble heart that I am blessed to be beautiful with two inches of hair or 18. Short hair gives me a sexy edge while long hair makes me look romantic and more classic. I do prefer my shorter looks, the sexier edge. I like it a lot and in fact, I turn heads completely when my hair is short, men and women (not on a sexual tip though). When my hair is long, I still turn them, but I can tell people aren't feeling my hair as much as when it is short and I have it spiked or something. Last year I cut my hair into an asymmetric bob and I loved it. I would get raving comiments on it. So, I guess it really depends on the person. A guy told me that a woman is truly genuinely beautiful when her hair really doesnt change how beautiful she is, it can be short or long and you still take a double take. I have always tried to remember that about me. And I am thankful for it. I used to have extremely low self esteem and thought I was ugly and that only long hair would ever make me pretty. Thank God for his healing and restoration! :)

I like long hair. But I LOVE Big hair. Big curly, spirally hair. :) So once I'm 100%natural that's what I plan to rock. My chipmunk cheeks do not look good with a short haircut. I've tried.

I think that healthy hair is amazingly gorgeous. So the more hair, the merrier. That's what makes long & healthy hair so beautiful to me, there's more beauty to look at. Because I think it's so pretty, I feel like long hair enhances my own beauty. Once my hair is nice and long, I can admire my own gorgeous hair just like I've admired other's :o

I look good with a chin length bob (which I rocked for many years) or full shoulder lenght and below hair (although i would not go lower than bra strap)

same here. I look good with my hair short. I think I may in fact look better. It gives personality and that edge you are speaking of and it demands attention. Besides I can color with my honey golden blond and spike and all without worrying about breakage because I cut so often anyway.

But I LOVE long hair and can't get enough of it. It is so romantic and feminine and sweet. Long hair definitely gets a lot of attention as well and I think society automatically equivalate long hair to pretty.

Either way it goes I love hair period.

Hmm...for me I get compliments when my hair is really really short..like Halles or longer..a little past shoulder and beyond which i do with instant weaves. In between i gets no love!!!:lachen:

Soooo..right now my goal is to grow my natural hair to shoulder and beyond so i can flick the fake to the side!!!

It depends...not everyone looks good with long hair or should i say knows how to style it.

For me personally, the long hair is MUCH better than short, for three reasons:

1) I have very wide shoulders for a woman, and a small head. So the longer my hair, the more I can add volume to it (without looking like Bozo the Clown).

2) I have recently gained about 30 lbs, so the long hair (with volume) balances me out (again, owing to my pin head).

3) A person's ability to grow long hair IS a sign of good general health, so in that respect, yes.

That being said, I've had short hair before (for a long time, in fact) esp. while I was in the Army and law enforcement, and I looked like a 12 year old boy.

Also, I've seen people in public who really look great with very short hair, and those who should have short hair b/c of body shape, facial structure, ect.

(Halle B. is a great example of this. She was smokin' hot with the pixie 'do, and now she's "alright" with the long hair.)

JMHO.

This isn't about what men or family members think, but what do you think personally? Do you feel that you look better as your hair gets longer?

I'd say that I do. I think maybe it's the whole "package" thing, and that as my hair gets healthier and longer it adds to the whole beauty package (lord, forst I had lw self esteem now I'm feeling pretty, I'm might be an ass at BSL!)

Like, I'll look at pics of myself from last year and I just feel that I look better now b/c my hair is healthier, fuller, and longer.

How bout y'all?

I feel I look much better with long hair, and getting better it is grows. :)

Breezy, I love this thread.:D

Okay, this is vain, but we are on a hair board after all... I feel like a woman in a Botticelli painting when I band my hair and then take it loose, take off all of my clothes, sit on the bed and arrange my hair to cover myself.:p

I feel very beautiful and feminine with long hair.

Go ahead girl. Do the Birth of Venus pose. Float on that clam shell! JK. (Sorry, BFA in Art History :look: ). I feel you on that though. I suppose it would make me feel very feminine if my hair was very long again. Yours is lovely by the way :yep:

I think I look older (better) with hair on the shorter side, my favorite cut had to be my angled bob slightly below chin length slightly above shoulder I had when I was growing out my hair. The longer my hair gets...the younger I tend to look :/ . This is part of the reason why my plan is to stop at shoulder length unstretched.

I've always had shoulder length or longer and really thick..until this past spring when it fell out..due to a toxic work area...Ayway after wearing braids and taking them out I bought an instant weave (about 4inches past shoulder). Then I bought a short wig about 1 inch above shoulder, bob all the way around with bangs.....and I'm luving it....I'm wondering if I'll just cut my hair short...but then I decided no, because thats drama trying to maintain with the hairdresser...I think I'm going to alternate with braids and short wigs....I guess the short hair is totally different something new. Its actually good for me because I'm not stressing on the long hair so much anymore.
So no, I don't think long hair makes me look better....thats my opinion this month anyway:lol:
sorry so long:)

I'm vain and insecure, so yes, I think long hair makes me look prettier.

I'll never forget...when in high school, I had BSL hair, but I nevere ever wore it down. My Mom says it's cuz I was 'trifling', but whatever. :look:

Anyway, on those rare occasions that I would wear it free and loose, negros and girls that never paid any attention to me before suddenly had toooo much to say to me.

"I didn't know you had all that hair!"

"You have all dem' bumps in yo face, but yo hair fiya."

"Girl, if I had all that hair I'd be gettin' my hair done every week!"

"If you have hair, why you be wearin' that ugly *** ponytail?"

Men was trying to holla left and right. It mostly disgusted me, and when I was younger, it secretly made up for my dangerously low self esteem.

Etc. I think that's when I conciously realized hair had power and it could make up for a lot of things. It shouldn't be that way, but truth is truth, eh? I've seen homely women who all of a sudden look beautiful with longer hair. It just emphasizes features in a better way.

Since coming here, I've realized that healthy hair emphasizes beauty, whether TWA or butt length.

You can't easily deny the sway of long hair.

The bolded made me laugh :lachen:

I definitely agree with you though. I have seen a lot of women look fierce with a short style but I can't deny the power of long healthy hair to enhance a woman's allure and beauty.

To me longer hair = pretty

but it's not like short hair = ugly

I look at long hair as an enhancement to beauty. It doesn't make someone beautiful alone.

If I had to pick between long hair and the perfect body or beautiful face... I would go with body/face and stay short haired forever.

i am definitely prettier with longer hair, hands down. i never thought it would make a difference, but after i did the bc, i was a little shocked. i have pics in my fotki.

I think I look better with long thick big hair. I love how I look when my hair is voluminous and textured. When it's flatironed and stick straight, I really think it does nothing for me.

Oddly, I think I looked better with 2 inches of hair verses about 4-5 inches. That's such an awkward length on me. Still, I find that after that awkward stage, the longer my hair gets the better I look. I wouldn't go back to a twa because longer/bigger hair suits my face more, especially when my hair is stretched or blown out.

Short, full and curly is my best look. Long and straight is a :nono: for me. I think in the minds of men, women look better with long hair simply because long hair is the definition of femininity. I also wonder if modern men still carry this belief as a means of rebellion against feminism, because I cannot understand why with all the changing trends in beauty some guys still think long hair looks good on every female. Maybe they associate long hair with the way women used to be before the turn of the century.

I feel prettier when my own hair is longer, but it has to be at it's full thickness. I love the feel of my hair tossing, bouncing, resting on my back, and the wind blowing through it. It's a very womanly feeling and that makes me feel great. I can't wait until my current stretch is over so that I can feel my hair around me again.

Right now my hair is getting longer, however the crown/edges are damaged so my hair doesn't have it's full weight. (I don't think long weaves are pretty if it's obvious that it's a weave and I'm wearing a weave as I type this.) My hair is very flattering on me at just below chin length too, but that length requires way too much maintenance.

Longer is not prettier on everyone. Sometimes a lot of hair overwhelms a person's face/body frame, especially if it's just there - no cut, no styling.

I personally don't look good with short hair--I wish I did. I long greater with longer hair. So, I guess that is why I crave for long, flowing WL(some Tracycee, Machierearmour, Sylver2 hair).

I feel prettier when my hair is longer. I've found that I can usually pull off either end of the spectrum without looking a H.A.M. but I prefer longer. That way I can kind of hide the "ugly days" behind my hair. ._.

I got 100% more compliments on my hair when it was ear length short, but I personally like myself with long hair better.

I feel like I look good at either end of the spectrum. As a lot of women have mentioned, thickness is key for me. If my hair is starting to thin, or just grow the way I know it does, then I don't like it. I've had long, thick straight hair, and it needs layering because I have an oval face that looks long and narrow without layers. I've never had long, thick, uber-curly hair though, so that's what I'm going for now :yep:.
