I love butters as well. My hair and scalp respond well to them.

HIT:

using a Kenra line up for shampooing and conditioning.

I used Kenra Clarifying poo, Kenra Moisturizing poo, and Kenra Moisturizing conditioner today and it was really nice!! My hair feels really good.

I did throw in some Joico K-pak for a few min, but I think the Kenra lineup worked well together for me.

Hits: Carol's Daughter Loc Butter (even though I'm relaxed I love this stuff)

I also like Amla oil as a pre-poo.

Misses: Sunsilk straighten up cream - made my hair crispy

On another note, I've ordered my Ends All from Hair2Heaven and hope to report that as a July Hit.

ladies... take your butts there! She does relaxers AND she just B'chopped. Not to mention she's fro Jer-Zee, so you know she knows how to braid and weave. 20+ years in the industry, friendly service...
YOU DON'T HAVE NOOOO EXCUSES!

Chi Silk Infusion
Gave me a silky straightening on my NG when i WAAAAAS transitioning.

Pure Shea Butter. I was almost out of my shealoe, so i needed a moisturizing butter that actually worked... in comes Shea butter. Mashed in my hands, nice and smooth. Wet my hair first (b/c i believe my hair only takes the hairdressing when wet) and wrap or rollerset. Marvelous softening leave-in.

Jojoba Oil---> on the scalp, graet oil moisturizer. Also, absorbs really well in the strands for those who seal. I had already anticipated it working. Jojoba oil mimicks the same properties as sebum that naturally occur in the scalp.

Redken Glass 01
The same stylist i mentioned up above used this to smoothe down my wrap, and straighten my hair. Good thinking; Me and wrapping lotion were never friends.

Surge Ultra Max. I rubbed it into my dry skin and my skin felt so soft and good. I wish i had bought the bottle. (oh, and their website is gone so I am assuming they are out of business).

Misses:

Elast QP Wrapping Lotion---> Uck! Makes my hair feel sticky and filmy. (But, isn't that all wrapping lotions?)

Sweet Almond Butter---> Leaves my hair greasy and doesn't absorb into the strands. I like it better on the actually scalp.

I'll have to update you later on the other products.

Hits:

FLEX Balsam & Protein extra body conditioner. I took it back to the old school, way back and I am so happy I did. This made my hair so soft and shiny. I was expecting it to leave my hair hard because it has protein but not at all.
Aussie Moist conditioner. Very moisturizing. Awesome for cowashing. This and Loreal conditioners are probably the best drugstore conditioners that I have used.
Loreal Vive Pro nutri gloss conditioner. Great for cowashing.
Loreal Vive Pro colol vive conditioner. Very moisturizing.
Devacare One conditioner. Nice and thick. It can also be used as a deep conditioner.
Wella Kolestral. It's not very thick like other deep conditioners but it does the job.
VO5 Vita burst strengthening conditioner. Used for cowashing. Leaves my hair soft and shiny.
Suave daily clarifying shampoo. Used once a week. Very gentle.
VO5 Tea therapy vanilla mint tea clarifying shampoo. I love the smell of it and it's very gentle as the Suave.
Sunsilk Hydra TLC. I am inlove with the styling products from this line. This made my hair so soft, fluffy and without the white residue. A little goes a long way.
Sunsilk De-frizz. Excellent. Used for wash and gos. Very light but does does a great job of moisturizing and keeping frizz away. Love the smell.
Eco styler styling gel. Used for wash and gos. Gives the right amount of hold. This is the only gel that comes close to Fantasia IC sparklelites except it's a little less heavier than Fantasia IC so it's perfect for me.
Miss Jessies Curly Meringue. Great for wash and go. Gives soft defined curls. Love the smell.
Miss Jessies Buttercreme. I love the texture and smell. Made my hair soft and shiny.
ORS Olive oil moisturizing hair lotion. I love that it's thick and moisturizing. Smells like grapes. Don't really like the white residue on wet hair but after your hair dries it goes away.
Fantasia IC hair polisher heat protector straightening serum. Does an excellent job of preventing heat damage. Smells yummy.
Cowashing. I decided to give this another try since I tried it last year summer and my hair has been thanking me for it. My hair strands are so much thicker and stronger. I only used shampoo once a week now.
Using my 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner as moisturizing poos. This works just as good as a moisturizing poo or ever better.
Eggs. I use this instead of Aphogee or Emergencee as my monthly protein treatment. Sometimes I add a little shikahai and amla powder to it.

Misses:

None

Undecided:

Miss Jessies Curly Pudding. I like Curly Meringue better because its moisturizing and it's not very heavy as curly pudding. I might stick to Bubble up styling pudding instead.
Organics Africa Best shea butter & tea tree oil moisturizer. I don't think it's very moisturizing and I don't like the smell of it.

Still on Fence: Shikakikikaiaki Bar

No longer on fence - A hit :)

I was doggone tired when I came in from work last night....decided to just oil up my braidout with BJ's Shikakakakakaki Oil, slapped a plastic cap on and went to sleep.

I poo'd this afternoon with the bar (I found lathering it up in my hands first, then applying to hair and scalp rather than just putting the bar to my hair was much more effective and made the difference)

and these two products seem really complimentary to each other as she stated - a keeper for my stable.

*thumbs up*

How does the Dabur Gold oil smell?

Oh yeah, I forgot the most important part, it smells really good too!

Another hit:
Garnier Brillantine Wax: My girl Mona Lisa hipped me onto to this and I really like it. My hair is like 7 or 8 weeks post and my edges are getting out of control. I like how this stuff tames 'em.

Hits::thumbsup:

1. jojoba oil- i swear i could feel my scalp breathe after using this. smh at myself for waiting way too long to use this. I need to buy a metric ton of this!!!

2.Sapayulo oil (suela)-in overnight Prepoo treatment of jojoba, sesame oil, olive oil.

3. Ion Hard Water shampoo after a prepoo of jojoba on the scalp and vo5 moisture milk on hair. I never thought I could have clarified/chelated MOIST hair!

4.Praital Silk Worm Deep Treatment. :woot: I knew there had to be a dominican conditioner that gave me what I need: moisture, detangling and slip with out mineral oil. Wonderful by itself. Cant wait to try it with honey, aloe, coconut oil, etc.

5. Vatika oil- made my no lye ends instantly silky soft
and shiny. Loosened up my waves from my braidout. My scalp is doing the breathe and tingle thing.

6. Lacio Lacio + castor oil+ elucence mb. hair was not dried out as it usually is after setting my hair

7. washing hair in braids secured with plastic barettes.

MISS:
1. Washing hair in too loose braids. The wonderful Praital and humecto, detangled my braids which tangled my hair, but not too bad. Lost a few extra hairs, maybe. I Hate when my hair tangles.

TBD:

1. Alter Ego Garlic Hot Oil treatment- Used this once. Cant tell how well it really works, [see miss], but I am not seeing any shedding so far, above what is natural. It did make my scalp feel good, and my scalp is feeling great, despite post relaxer irritation.

2. amla/shikaikai powder. hope to make an amla infusion for general purposes and a mixed infusion for prepoo.

3. Coconut oil. Read a PubMed abstract of an article on study comparing sunflower, mineral and coconut oil. Of these three, only coconut oil is shown to penetrate and replace lost hair proteins. That settles it for me. Mineral Oil is the devil!!!

On the Fence: White Rain Lavender/Vanilla Conditioner. Since I can't find the White Rain Tropical Coconut in my area, I am always picking up other White Rain products hoping and praying I will love it as much as I love the Tropical Coconut. :nono:
The Lav/Van is okay. It's nothing like the Tropical Coconut. I think I will end up using this one as a shaving cream from now on out. (that is what I did with it tonight. Thumbs up for a shaving cream.) My cowash was not the same tonight. (you are right MonaLisa...Not all White Rain product are equal!)

Avocado Butter....On the Fence here also. I washed and Deep conditioned then applied the Avocado butter. After my hair air dried, it was not soft and kinda frizzy. I am praying this one will not be a miss. I have a whole container of it. I will give it another try.

MISS
Hask Pure Shine Frizz Remedy. I used this while on vacation in Florida and my hair just laughed at it. My hair was not pretty nor shiny. :nono:

I tried that one....I woulda warned you...:ohwell: :nono:

The only other White Rain conditioner I half way really liked was the one for Women of Color..:look: in the brown bottle - but I fell off of that one because it didn't compare to my beloved, so I'm strictly WRTC.

Kudos on finding a good shave cream though..

Hits:
Castor Oil
K-Cutter comb
Combing out of the shower

Not sure:
Elasta QP DR-11 - It was ok; not bad, but nothing to rave over. I want to try the Motions Moisture Conditioner next, and compare the two.

No Misses as of yet.

Hit:
Seda Keraforce. It melts away the tangles like a dream. I am transitioning and this stuff makes my new growth soft and manageable.

Revisited hit:
Fantasia IC Olive Oil Serum

Miss:
Paul Mitchell Super Skinny poo & conditioner- The poo didn't detangle my hair at all, I prefer creamy poos, this one was clear and not moisturizing to me. The conditioner just sat on my hair. Both products left my hair tangled. Thank goodness these were just trial sizes. :ohwell:

Giggles. You know what....That is the second time this has happened to me. Before my happy go lucky behind pick up another product on a whim I need to just PM you!! At this rate, I will not need to buy 'real' shaving gel all summer long!

I promise you will like the MMP Conditioner better. Just make sure you pick up the one in the tub. I learned from the ladies here that it was better than the bottles/tubes. (I purchased the tub and bypassed the others.)

Say it's not so! :cry2: I picked up the liters bottles when I ran out to get this.

HIT:

Scoring very nice LARGE vintage silk scarfs for only $5 each while on vacation. They laundered beautifully and I am going to wear one to bed tonight. :D

Ladies if you ever visit Hollywood, go to Iguana Vintage - they have a silk scarf HEAVEN.

I am sure similar deals can be found at thrift shops and similar places, too.

HIT

Cowashing every other day with this frackin' humidity we are getting up here in upstate NY. This is doing me right. My hair is loving it.

Revisited HIT

Motions Moisture Plus conditioner - Lovin' it
Aphogee Green Tea & Keratin Reconstructor

Hits::D

Aphogee 2 minute reconstructor. This made my hair feel nice and strong and I will def. be doing this every other week to keep up on my protein treats. It's more effective than Keraphix (IMO) and a great price.:)

Miss::ohwell:
Biolage Detangling Solution as a leave-in. Made my hair feel gooey and provided no slip. It's too thin to use as a DC and I really didn't want to go through all the trouble of doing a rinse, but I guess I will. I may just add it to my color rinses, then follow with a DC.

Coming up Next::grin:
CON Nourishing Conditioner as a DC ( I may mix in some Atone Reconstructor and EVOO)

Oh no! Well you know what they say, different heads react differently. This line has gotten good reviews, I think Allandra used to use it. So maybe it's just me. Let us know how it works for you, chica. :)

On the fence:

Nacidit Olive Oil Rinse:I'm not too sure about this one. I had major tangles today and this failed me. I tried combing with the rinse in my hair and the comb wouldn't go through. I tried combing with the rinse in under running water and the comb still wouldn't glide through. Luckily, my Silicon Mix and Lacio Lacio came through and saved the day. I'll try this rinse again when I don't have as much tangles.

CON Nourishing Conditioner. My hair felt kinda hard after I rinsed, but the comb out was very nice! I probably won't be trying again.

Next, coming up!

Natural Avocado Conditioner (from Walgreens)
Queen Helene cholesterol as a prepoo
Queen Helene Cholesterol hot oil treatment as a prepoo
