KeraCare dry and itchy scalp shampoo and conditioner! Yay!

Amla Oil on DRY hair with Vatika oil also worked well for me. I almost gave up on Amla

No more PJing for me! Unless you want to count Eluence, because I'm still going to try that. Oh and Shikakai powder, but that's because they sell it cheap at the Indian store. Oh and Henna. BUt that doesn't count. I'm going grey an dI'm 24 years old, OK????

Miss(es):

Unrefined African Shea Butter--I used this on my hair then baggied...can you say GREASY HAIR :nono: My hair felt like I loaded it with grease...wasn't "nourishing" at all.

So I decided to alter it: Unrefined African Shea Butter (whipped) with Sodium Lactate, Natural Vitamin E oil, and Coconut Island fragrant oil (for fragrance only)...another miss. :ohwell: The result was a little better but my hair still felt greasy. My hair also seems shorter which isn't surprising since it seems to be even more prone to breakage since using it! I thought I would try the créme de la créme of butters since my experience with mango butter (mixed with the sodium lactate, etc) was good...um I should have stuck with mango butter...luckily I have one more pound left of virgin mango butter (don't know where I'm going to find more after it's gone :(). My hair actually feels "nourished" and I daresay "moisturized" when I use this...yeah should have stuck with it.

Hit:

Unrefined Shea butter as a skin moisturizer (after shower use)...it's a good thing I scented it with the Coconut Island fragrant oil (smells like coconut cake batter) because I'm not going to be able to use it for my hair.

Hit: Alter Ego Cren It works best when applied after using a conditioner with Menthol

Miss: MTG....omg where can I start! Everytime I used this product it weighed my hair down significantly! On top of that it stinks. I never in my life felt self conscious wearing a hair product until I used MTG. It's definitely not worth it to smell like hog maws on the train for hair growth. I can't wait until I get my PJ allowance so I can buy me some Boundless Tresses :bud: :yay:

Hits:
Profectiv Break free daily moisturizer
Profectiv Mega Growth original cream
Suave Tropical Cocount Conditioner

Undecided:
Suave Clarifying Shampoo

Miss: Ampro ProStyl Clear Ice Gel. This stuff no longer works for me...I'm not sure what happened but I do use it with it a few other things (which has never been a problem before) so as not to have to "hard" gelled hair. Ugh...now I need to find a new gel.

Hit: BBD stretch creme. Used as a leave-in for relaxed /coloured hair.

I was feeling dry 3 days after my relaxer and colour . Applied a quarter size amount for 3 days in a row at nite then wrapped my hair. Each morning, my hair was silky and I could still swing it like I just walked out of the salon.
NO BREAKAGE IN MY COMB AND MY ENDS STILL FEEL SILKY SMOOTH!!

Pretty amazing stuff. Don't know if I will use it long term. The instructions state to only use when hair feels dry or the cuticle starts to swell.

Hit: African Black Soap (1 1b block from Nasabb) I've been using this soap as my regular bathing soap (off and on) and I really like the nice lather; it doesn't dry out my skin. This morning, I decided to use it on my hair. I usually rinse my hair every other day or so until I do a full wash and condition. I decided not to wash my hair last night (I'll wait another day or two) but since I had that "gel" that was mentioned in my previous post as well as another product in my hair, I decided to use the black soap...it lathered up really good and my hair felt nice! It wasn't tangly or dried out even after partially air-drying...very soft hair.

Neutrogena Triple Moisture Smooth Shine Anti Frizz Cream

NY is too humid right now and this is my remedy. Smooth and shiny, no frizz.

  • Oyin Handmade Whipped Pudding (My stand-in while my hubby is on deployment) :lachen:

Missed altogether

  • CoCasta Shikakai Oil (did NOTHING for my hair at all BUT it smells really nice and has a nice consistency to it. It's already found a home in NY.).
  • Oyin Whipped Shea (way to heavy for my hair, even when bunned, very disappointed but the whipped pudding made me feel much better!)

I strayed away from using my Indian products in an attempt to find more 'conventional' methods, my hair has spoken!! I'm staying with my core products, the tried and true: Ayurveda !! It ROCKS!!:notworthy

Upcoming reviews:

Hair2Heaven EndAll (can't wait!!)
Oyin Handmade Body Butter Bar (Candy)
Oyin Handmade Lip HoneyTint
Personal Blend: Whipped Shea & Amla Butter

Do you have a hair strainer for your drain? I use one every time I wash/cowash. I sort of judge the condition of my hair by how much gets caught in the strainer. Of course, the strainer also keeps my drain from getting clogged, too!:)
