Hit:

Giovanni Direct Leave-in --I just tried it last night, and OMG ! That stuff really is the bomb! It detangled my hair better than Silicon Mix.

Miss:

Giovanni Smooth as Silk Shampoo--Didn't feel moisturizing at all. Still on my search for a good moisturizing natural and/or organic shampoo.:(

I had the same experience, it left my hair hard and feeling rough. All my experiences with natural/organic shampoo's have been HORRIBLE! I love the conditioners tho ;)

FYI: I've only seen the Thai Kitchen coconut milk at the health food store. They may also sell it at Whole Foods. I've tried the Goya brand at the "regular" grocery store, and it seemed to work well too. I may have to revisit the cheap brands for mixing with DC.

I used Imperial Dragon from Walmart with a cheapie conditioner and was pleased....I'll be doing it again tonight after I color my hair and taking a can or two with us on vacation this weekend for me and the kids after swimming - CO washes with coconut milk...yes I am hooked!:lachen:

Two questions for ya!

Did the ORS burn your scalp (do you normally burn)?

And the K/C conditioner, does it give as much slip as humecto?

I normally burn and I first used ORS lye a few weeks ago and there was no burning.

Hi girl,

It was my first time using using the ORS Lye, my head burned though, it took time geting the relaxer on my hair because i had about 4-5 inches of growth as a result from my 6 month strecth.

the possible reason why i burned may be due to removing my natural two strand twists two days prior, so my scalp was alreadly tender, plus i've been using my hair growth product on my scalp. Apart from that, i usually don't burn when i used silk elements lye relaxer.

my hair turned out quite straight with a lot of body, it wasn't as soft and silky like SE lye though. i detest the ORS creamy aloe poo, it really dried out my hair.

the KC moisturising conditioner has far more slip and moisture, than humecto, which always dried out and tangled my hair. KC moisturising conditioner is very much like affirm susteance fortifying conditioner which i always loved.,

Okay since SE burn the HELL out of me, I know this would burn for me. I will just stick with the no lye.

I ordered some samples of this conditioner from Avlon and they sent me some (I think it was this one). So I will try it then! Thank you Den! And you hair looks gawgus!

HITS

Hair2Heaven Sunshower moisture spritz - excellent after washing. Kept hair and scalp from drying out. Nice as a little touch up when your head is feeling dry in between.

All things Hairveda!!!

Aveda DR con for a cowash mixed with evoo and Hairveda shikakai oil

Loreal Unfrizz Smoothing Treatment - does just what it says (and I needed it!)

I did not like this either. It did not make my hair hard to comb, but it was too sticky for me..

HoneyDew, out of curiosity, did you use the one with or without the mink oil? It appears that they have switched formulas so I was wondering if this could have been a factor.

Hits:
Victoria's Secret So Sexy conditioner: Today I deep conditioned and mixed some Dabur Amla oil with my conditioner and I wasn't loving the smell. :ohwell: So after rinsing I decided to give my hair a treat with Vicki's So Secret condish. It's so thick and creamy and smells like pure heaven!! Thanks Honeydew!! ;)

Dabur Amla Gold oil: I found this at my Indian market and this stuff so nice!! It's nothing like the full strength one. This oil contains almond oil and henna in it also and no mineral oil. Great stuff.

*Mocha just reminded me to look for Lacio version where minks have sacrificed their oils...thanks Mocha*

It is nice isn't it? I was pleasantly surprised. I'm just waiting for the sale to hit the store to pick up a few more bottles.

I can't remember. I sent to another member. Do you guys remember our girl who a veterinarian and is preggers (I think) right now? I cannot seem to find her although I know she has posted recently. I send my bottle to her. I am curious now if it has mink oil or not.

I am curious too cuz most members who have tried both seem to prefer the one with the mink oil.

Yay! Now I know how this works!

Hits:

1. Vatika Oil

2. Less is more- Instead of applying a heavy moisturizer the moment I finish washing my hair; air drying with a bit of Elasta QP H-Two and Vatika Oil gave me soft, fluffy, and best of all TOUCHABLE hair. Much better results in my opinion. LOL!

Misses:

1. Profectiv Long and Healthy- The Pink Serum. Decided to give this stuff one more try as it had been sitting under my sink for a few months. Now I know why the bottle is so pretty, because it's pretty much what I was paying for. Didn't moisturize but it did heat up in my hands which gives it an A for effort.

Hits:

-Joico Conditioning shampoo Kerapro
-Joico Lite conditioner- it's one of those 1 min. and then rinse conditioners but I love it for some instant strength and moisture, just the right balance. I think I'll actually use this the next time after I DC.

To the bolded: girl I thought I had a bad batch  , I was like what the hell my hands gonna catch fire  , I didn't like that at all. I use it on my sons hair for shine, lol.

Hit- babyiliss hot air brush-the first tim I have straight edges and did not break out the flat iron. I need to get one with a smaller barrel though.
On the fence- Henna:confused: I doesnt seem to have done much for my hair, maybe I was expecting too much. I'll try another application in a few weeks.

Why thank you Den for the compliment. :)

I actually LOVE the no lye version. I was thinking that the lye version may have been better, but I should just stick with what I know. It's a toss up between that and Profectiv's no lye which I love too. Decisions, decisions.

Lovin' the bun with the hair sticks Den1, very pretty!

ITA its best to stick with what works, i was going to switch to no-lye because my hair wasn't getting straight with SE but then i remembered the dryness issues i had with elasta qp, thank-god i've found ORS lye, my hair seems to have taken to the relaxer well.

Hit

Mizani relaxer
I finished the 4 lb tub of affirm and purchased this. My hair is straight and I didn't burn much. Even though I have been scratching my scalp since Monday.

Giovanni's Nutrafix Reconstructor
I used this once my hairdresser neutralized, I stayed under the dryer for 15 minutes and my hair is silky!!!!!!!!!

Overall I had a good experience!

1. LACIO LACIO!!! I love this it instantly softens and detangles my hair, and adds more shine than Silk Touch, but I'm keeping both as staples.

2. oh and I revisited Dark and Lovely ultra cholestral, LOVE it !!!,

3. I also tried silicon mix treatment, it was okay not much slip but I did have tons of body and bounce with my rollerset, next time I'll sit under the dryer, and put some evoo in the mix

4. Ponytail rollersets!!! I dont have the patience to do a regular one

5. Minimal direct heat regimine, maybe once or at most twice a month blowdry and flatiron. other than that wet sets

6. hot oil treatments with EVOO, my hair color is shiney and jet black, I love it
