Well I just BC'd so my hair is about nape length (layered), so I use less than many of the longer haired ladies on this board may use. I use 16 pumps. One thing a/b WEN is that when you hear the number of pumps you think its alot, but really its no more than I was using of my normal conditioner. So no, I am not going through it more quickly than my usual conditioners. I think that we as black women tend to be a little 'heavy handed' w/ our conditioners anyway, so please don't let the number of pumps scare you. 16 pumps is not even a handful! I actually use less of the WEN than I did of my Keracare, Biolage, etc. The key to WEN is to add plenty of water so that it foams nicely, and really works the dirt out of your hair. It truly does cleanse like shampoo, hence I am able to wash the Ojon oil out of my hair with this product. When I first found LHCF I tried CO washing, but it left too much of a film on my hair, I definitely had to shampoo at least every other wash which defeated the purpose IMO. SO IME, this is NOT the same as taking any conditioner and washing my hair, b/c this product was CREATED to cleanse and conditoner vs. using a conditioner to force it to do what it wasn't created to do.

To answer your question I wash every 5-7 days with WEN. I pre-poo with Ojon for 1-3 hours and then I cleanse with WEN. I let it sit for 15-20 mins and rinse. On soaking wet hair I add 1-2 pumps as a leave in (the best in the world!!). I also add a little Potion 9 for hold, and literally a dab of silk infusion for heat protection. I either air dry or blow dry depending on time constraints. If I air dry, my hair dries soooo soft and frizz free. I'm going to order the WEN styling creme & oil and it will hopefully eliminate the need for Potion 9 and the silk infusion. Also when I travel, its so much better to take one bottle that does it all vs my usual, clarifier, shampoo, conditioner, leave in, foam wrap lotion, serum etc. With WEN my routine is simple, simple, simple. No longer 5-10 steps :)

My results have been shiny, shiny hair. Fullness, body and no more tight or itchy scalp. Also my newgrowth is always soft. Sorry for the thesis  , but I hope I answered your questions. If you try it and don't like it as a conditioner, I can almost guarantee you will LOVE it as a leave in. It really is that good, and I am a leave in junkie. Overall I have been really happy with the products and if you try them I hope you are just as happy, if not happier with your results :)

Thank you, thank you, thany you. I bought some off of Ebay I hope it gets here this week before we leave for vacation. It would be great to not have to pack a million and one products for just my hair.

Vixxx...I swear on my life....I was searching for the June Hits and Misses...just KNOWING....you had started it on May 31st and somebody beat you to it!

Aww heyall...

I'll toss a couple in now since I tried out --

HITS:

BJ's Shikakikaikaiaiakaikai Hair Oil Blend & Sweet Almond Glaze

Still trying to figure out if it was the oil blend and bar together that made my hair soft...or just using the oil itself....

Also...someone with the Lacio Lacio thread prompted me to use it on dry hair...I always just used it for rollersetting with heat...but I like it for air drying and moisturizing too.

To try out during the month of June:

Pantene Breakage Defense Mask
Hair2Heaven End All (if any is left by the time I get my order in)

Continued Hit:

Garnier Sleek & Shine Leave In

Still on Fence:

Shikakikikaiaki Bar

I holla'd @ the red! :lachen: Gurrl...!!!

Surprising Hit:

White Rain Tropical Coconut Conditioner.

I knew it was good from the moment I put it on. I like when conditioners make my hair feel like it kinda swells up while it is on there. Some conditioners don't so that and just SIT on top of my hair. Those are also harder to rinse for me. The White Rain was instantly conditioning and rinsed well without any filmy residue. I am not that into the Coconut smell, but this is a great choice for a protein free moisturizing conditioner. I am really impressed because my hair never likes cheapies. I only paid $1 for this.

I did not style my hair to see how that would feel because I was just airdrying and not doing anything for the night. I am going to use it today after a mud treatment but I am going to style and the whole 9 yards. I am looking for to that.

You're welcome! Also, you may not be that impressed with the 'cleansing experience' b/c I don't find that the cc gives me much 'slip'. However, using it as a leave in more than makes up for it, and the way my air feels as it is drying and once I've styled it. If you flat iron, you'll notice as soon as your hair travels through the iron blades you see the shine, really even while its drying you see the shine. Please report back once you've used it.

Good Luck and Enjoy! :)

ETA: Which 'flavor' did you get?

Me likey. :p I think I'm gonna keep in the hair arsenal. It has a creamy consistency & it has Coconut oil in it which always is a plus for my hair. I had a feeling I would like it since Priestess uses it. She's almost like my hair guinea pig now....

I meant that in a good way Priestess :look:

Now, I just have my hair2heaven order then I think I'm good - I can't think of anything else to try...I have lost my mind these past few months trying out ish:eek: ...but I'm glad I did, I found things that really helped with my hair ...staples do change...:)

hits:
lacio lacio- really smoothed out my ends for rollersetting. and my hair came out feeling very light.

nacidit olive oil rinse- OMG, kini wasn't lying. this literally melts tangles. my hair was really tangles after i used emergencee, and something told me to put the rinse in and as soon as I put it in, immediately my tangles were gone. i was really impressed, plus it made my hair feel like butter. i think i might try it as a pre poo.

I never post on this thread, but I have been moved by a product called Olive Oil Hair masque by Regis, to shout from the mountain tops so everyone will know about it!!! No parabens no cones, just the miracle of God apparently:D ...and the fragrance of heaven. Anything I say is going to be an understatement but here it goes... I went into a salon looking for Paul M. and this white girl told me to try this instead. She said she uses it only when her hair is in serious trouble and completely fried from bleaching, perming and dying. Well, after using it,   I don't think I've ever felt my hair so silky and strong at the same time, even super shiny before adding leave-ins and oil serums. I have 2.5 inches of new growth and it was just soft, smooth & detangled in one stroke I swear... AND...I lost a grand total of three hairs in the whole wash & condition process which is always much more like 20 to 30 hairs when I have so much new growth. This one is a hit way out of the ball park! Thank you white girl with the fried hair!

(used mostly during the end of May)

hit: Aveda Brilliant Humectant Pomade

edit: called the Phomollient a miss, but I'm still testing to I'll call it on the fence

Suave Milk and Honey condish + EVOO+ Honey :yay:

I used this mixture as a deep conditioner and it was great! My hair loved it. Only now I have to figure out where to find more Suave Milk and Honey:look:

You all are hilarious!!!

Hit:

White rain women of color conditioner (brown bottle)
I bought this a couple of months ago, never used it. I brought it on vacation figuring I could use it up. I CW with it and then left it on for 10 minutes, my hair was sooo soft. I normally don't like cheapies but this is a winner.

Wet and Wavy leave in
This stuff detangles like no ones business!! I am 10 weeks post and the ng is kicking, I spray some of this on and comb through my naps. It also makes my hair soft.

Revisited
Giovanni's Direct leave in
Once again this has saved the day. My hair is moist and shiny. Also I can comb my ng, this is a life saver when I am 8 or more weeks post.

MV

Porosity Control - I used the shampoo and conditioner. At first, I didn't really like the way my hair felt after conditioning it, but during my rollerset I noticed that my ends weren't nearly as tangled as they usually are, and I had a lot less hair in the comb. So I guess PC did something. I guess it's a hit!

HiT: La Bomba conditioner and rinse

I'm glad I gave it another chance. It left my hair soft and manageable

BIG MISS: My beloved Mane N Tail Original Conditioner. :(

Okay this is going to be long cuz I'm pissed.

I ran out of my bottle of it from Sally's (the one WITHOUT Emulsifying Wax) and in a pinch bought a regular one with the wax. For the past 3 or 4 times using it = #1 My hair has felt drier after styling and #2 ALL of my normal products - leave in, heat protectants, etc - have been weighing my hair down. My hair felt like I had dumped a huge bottle of Keracare Silken Seal on it. :nono: I assumed it was my heat protectant. But that was not it!! I realized it was the Mane N Tail with the Emulsifying Wax on the ingredient list.

I clarified and used something else (White Rain Coconut) and then all my normal products and today my hair is back to normal!!

I AM BOYCOTTING MANE N' TAIL. Even though my hair likes the Sally's formula, I don't like that they have 2 different formulas under the same label like that. I emailed them weeks ago about the ingredient list and NO RESPONSE.

Not to worry, I'm planning on getting July in!!

Early hits this month:

Candy_C's avocado recipe...gurl, why da heck I sleep on dis so long? :spank:
Kera Care Shampoo and Humecto (thanks ladies who CONTINUOUSLY post on these. I finally gave it a try and it made my hair very nice!)
Camellia Oil (Thanks Sareca, my hair LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUVVVVVVS THIS!! SAID WITH A REAL HUSKY VOICE)
Cross wrapping...oh yeah!! Oh yeah, oh yeah!!

Another HIT:
Doing Sylver2's scarf method on my natural hair. After conditioning, I add in my leave in then put my damp hair in two bantu knots. I then arap w/my scarf and snug fitting night cap. I let it dry and its stetched w/out puffiness and a lot of frizz! I LOVE IT!! :D

hit/miss??

last night i tried castor oil for the first time, i added it to my DC Mizani Hyrdrafuse and sat under a heat cap for about an hour and a half. when i rinsed my hair i still felt the castor oil residue, but my hair did feel great, and my curls had bounce. i don't know if maybe I added too much castor oil and thats why I had the extra residue post rinse or is that just an effect of castor oil. anyone else have this experience, I don't know whether to add this to a hit or miss because I liked to moisturizing effects but hated the residue it left :perplexed

hit: PM the conditioner leave-in... i was skeptical at first, but its sooo moisturizing. i used it after my wash and then added Mizani h20 nightime treatment and then braided my hair and then added the castor oil to my ends and then rolled the braids under eachother to protect the ends.

hit: ORS olive oil creamy aloe shampoo... i had shampoo but i had a lot of mtg buildup and this stuff was great....clarifying shampoos are too drying for my hair and this worked juuuust nice :)

hit: adding mtg to sulpher 8...genius!:)

miss: as usuall, rollersetting. im about ready to hang in the towel on this one...

LACIO LACIO WOW:eek::eek::eek:

hit hit hit!

i did not know my nappy hair could be light and fluffy and still be moisturized. i actually had swang:eek:. dang i may not relax now.

Hit: Ponytail Rollersetting. Thanks to whoever came up with the idea. :)Although I may have to use more ponytails next time. I wish my hair wasn't so short in the back.

 HIT: Adding coconut milk to my conditioner. My hair looks and feels freshly relaxed and very, very soft. I did this yesterday on my hair and my 9 yr old daughters using Coconut Milk and VO5 Moisture Milk Strawberries and Cream conditioner, put plastic cap on for 30-45 minutes then rinsed. I did it on my 3 yr olds hair too but was not able to leave it in very long  and her hair came out nice and soft as well.

I will be doing this on a regular.

I just looked for some coconut milk yesterday and couldn't find it. I will check out Wild Oats. I am sure they have some. (or even the Indian store.)
