1. What is your purpose for joining this challenge?
To practice healthy hair habits, and be disciplined in retaining as much length as possible in order to reach full waistlength:yep:

Relaxed

4. What are your hair goals for 2009?
*Daily bunning/protective styles
*Reduced manipulation/no heat
*6 month stretch
*Making sure my hair is moisturized 24/7
*Retain 6 inches of growth
*Reach my first goal of full waistlength/grazing tailbone by december
*Buy a digicam to document all of this!

5. What is your hair reggie?
*Relax every 12-16 wks
*Ors creamy aloe poo once a month
*Dc 2x a wk with my ultimate concoction of conditioners(too many to name for now)
*Moisturize every other day(or every 2 or 3 days if im lazy) with my mixture of ntm silk touch leave in, emu oil, biolage cera repair(hydratherapy), ao rosa mosqueta lotion, and newly added softened cupuacu butter.
*Daily bunning(when im in the hse) wash n go's/braidouts(when i go out in public)

I don't understand what do you EXACTLY do in boot camp? do you just post your reggie and stick to it? I don't understand...

1. What is your purpose for joining this challenge?
I'm a stickler for discipline, especially when people are watching me for results. This keeps me straight and I'll get the results I want.

2. What is your current hair lenght?
APL unstretched, BSL stretched

3. Are you Natural or Relaxed?
Natural

4. What are your hair goals for 2009?
*Daily bunning/protective styles
*Reduced manipulation/no heat
*Making sure my hair is moisturized 24/7
*Retain 5-6 inches of growth
*Reach my first goal of full MBL by December
*To be able to wear my hair in a crazy Erykah Badu super duper big and long fro


5. What is your hair reggie?
*Wet hair daily and bun it
*Wash hair once a month with diluted castile soap
*Oil scalp daily with coconut oil or amla oil mixed with thyme, rosemary and MSM
*Henna every 2-3 months
*Use all natural-not natural products but directly from the source natural meaning oils, butters and whatever is unadulterated or unaltered :grin:
 
Count me in. My hair was damaged from bad haircare at a salon. I have managed to cut out most (if not all) of the damaged parts (no more breakage so far) and have decided to do my own hair from now on.

To stay disciplined so that I can obtain a full, thick head of healthy BSL hair on my own.

SL in most of my hair.

Healthy BSL relaxed hair

5. What is your hair reggie?
Co-wash 2x week followed by deep condition
Apply Megatek mixed with Castor oil on scalp and massage - 2x week (night before wash)
Chelating shampoo 1-2x month
Protein treatment - 1x month
Moisturize and seal daily
Relaxer every 8-10 weeks
Rollersetting

Currently wash and go with condish
Deep condish twice a week
Aphorgee once a month
Protective styling (scarves and wigs when I am stepping out)
When I get enough to get braid I will invest in that for half the year
 
Kristenxdollface, bootcamp is pretty much every challenge combined for maximum results: no heat, no trims, protective or low mani styles, dc with every shampoo, etc :)

2. What is your current hair length? Front - chin length; Sides - past collarbone; nape - about APL (can my neck be any longer?!!!)

-Healthy hair

-Combat dryness and breakage

5. What is your hair reggie?
-Wash, dc after every wash, leave-in conditioner, wear two strand twists for about 3-4 weeks, moisturize ends daily; rinse and repeat. Senegalese twists done every couple of months or so.
 
:wave: I should be able to participate with no problem because I have just started doing the following:

  • Relaxing every 4 months instead of 3
  • Color touch ups every 4 months instead of 3 or 2
  • Wearing buns 6 days a week
  • Reducing rollersets to once a month, then pinning up the curls instead of leaving them down
  • Flat ironing and blow drying once every 1 - 2 months only

To make it to full BSL, then MBL by Dec 09

BSL when wet, 1/2 inch from BSL when dry :ohwell:

3. Are you Natural or Relaxed?
Relaxed and bleached highlights


4. What are your hair goals for 2009?
  • Continue to maintain healthy double processed hair,
  • wear buns a minimum of 5 days a week,
  • find attractive protective styles and experiment,
  • learn how to flat iron for a sleek style every 2 months or so,
  • reach BSL by May and MBL by December
  • use up the products I have and stop stockpiling!
5. What is your hair reggie?

  • Relaxer and color touch ups every 4 months (stretching)
  • Cowash 2 - 3 x a year in winter, almost every day in summer, and when I am 9+ weeks post
  • Rollerset every 3 - 4 weeks
  • Flat iron once/month (just started)
  • Bun 6 days a week
  • Leave in full strength conditioners, keeping my hair moisturized constantly.

I wish I could bun that many days every week. Lawd, I get so bored with it that I have to switch. But clearly the results outweigh the boredom, so I'm gonna have to step up my game for real!
 
this thread is right on time for me. I have a regimen that works for me but I want to tweak a bit.

To learn more about what my hair likes and doesn't like. And to learn how to do and love proctective styles. Also discipline

BSL and then MBL by Dec 31
5. What is your hair reggie?
Wash and DC twice a week with CON shampoo and alternating between a moisturizing and a light protein condish. Roller sets with every wash until NG is unmanageable.
I also plan to start the crown and glory technique starting in January. This will help stretch my relaxers.

Currently doing the Crown and Glory Technique so currently in Braids-Wash 1xweek, using Infusium 23 as Leave-in Strengthner and Braid Spray alternate with Surge and Hairveda Whipped Cream on scalp for moisture, Relax 4x per year so stretching 8-12 wks, When not in braids dc every week, intending on using all products purchased (two bins full:blush:) before purchasing more so more often then will probably be pre-pooing with oils I have, vatika frosting etc.

To continue my healthy long hair care journey.Having healthy growing hair is very important to me.

I want to continue to have healthy growing hair, I want to get to MBL, or close there for 2009. I will continue to use LESS heat, wear protective styles, stretch my relaxers much as possible,and stay on my hair vitamins.

5. What is your hair reggie?

My regimen is:

I use less heat as possible if not any at all, I stretch my relaxers, I use Aphogee,Paul Mitchell,Motions,Olive Oil by Organic Root Stimulator, sometimes I use Creme Of Nature stuff and Very Sexy by Victoria's Secret Collection, and Dove.

I wash ounce a week, I always deep condition my hair, saturday is hair wash day for me.

I do a Aphogee or Motions CPR or Motions Silk Protien every 4 to 6 weeks.

I always Mositurize and Seal with Pure Virgin Olive Oil day and at night before bed.

I massage my scalp ounce a week at wash day and when I do my Shea Butter Cream Mix to scalp,which consist of the following ingredients:

Pure Shea Butter
Vitamin E Oil
Peppermint or Rosemary Oil
Coconut Oil
Olive Oil

I use all silk scarfs.

I comb and detangle gently, I do less brushes as possible.

And I stick to male hair stylests. My stapple stylest is Bay Bay, he the greatest.

i'm in - this is my first challenge so hopefully this will get me more in tune with my hair and go on from there

To get a better understanding of what works for my hair and give it some much needed TLC, hopefully get it back to the healthy hair it was

This is all fairly new but at the moment I'm washing 2/w, sealing ends every night only DC fortnightly have to pick that up to weekly, not really using heat, wigging it at present

Hopefully this should be a better way of looking after my hair and i'm planning to use protective styling quite a bit for 2009 so it should be good, just got to work out a way of posting pics, will get my niece to help with that.

right now its washing and DC once a week with a flat iron to add. the flat iron part will be changing in the new year. I plan to use sew-ins, flat twist and any other protective style until I reach my goal.
 
I am in! I am a newbie and have been lurking for far too long.

I will post pics to update my account but to answer the joining questions:

1. What is your purpose for joining this challenge? I would really like to better understand the things that work and don't work for my hair. This a whole new world for me, so I am really excited about learning new things!

2. What is your current hair length? I am weaved up right now, but I would have to say tops of the shoulder? I'm still learning the different terms.
3. Are you Natural or Relaxed? Transitioning since 09/07 although I never knew about this place and the top part of my head was relaxed about 2-3months ago..i know..i know...:nono:

4. What are your hair goals for 2009? I would like to continue a healthy transition and slowly loose the relaxed ends. Would be nice to reach mid back but that might be too adventurous.

5. What is your hair reggie? Still figuring it out but so far
-pre-poo & dc(w/heat) once a week
-co-wash mid week
-moisturizer hair and seal each time
-protein treatments once a month

I go to the hair salon faithfully every two weeks(soemtimes weekly, depening on funds). I cuurently use Ojon products from Sephora which I love. I dont have my hair down during the week only one the weekends to prevent tangles and my hair getting caught to stuff.:yep:

I want to learn how to better take care of myself while I'm in college so I won't fall back to bad habits such as flat ironing too often and not keeping my hair moisturized. My short term goal is to reach MBL by my August 2009 and my long-term goal is to reach WL by my college graduation day 2012!

Natural since the day I was born!

Curb breakage, split ends, thicker hair, reach MBL

5. What is your hair reggie?
Wash and deep condition every week and blow dry straight on cool. Pin curl or bantu knots at night and bun it up during the week. Occasional rollersets.

It is high time for me to start taking care of my hair. I want to master the art of rollersetting and use protective styles during the week.

2. What is your current hair lenght? Not entirely sure. Right now, it is natural and barely shoulder length. I will update with current length when I relax Dec 20.

Natural, but I will be relaxed for 2009

4. What are your hair goals for 2009?
No breakage, no split ends, moisturized hair, BSL 2009!!!!!

5. What is your hair reggie?
I don't really have one yet, but after I relax, I am thinking of co-washing 1x per week and rollersetting.. OR using a heat protectant to blow dry then flat iron. Rinsing with ACV when my hair needs a cleanse.. probably only 1x a month.
