Relaxed Hair Thread

@MzSwift
Yeah, Sis.

Now there is something else :nono: ....:cry3:

OAN: I bought a "kit" - Now Imma hafta' read back through your very detailed tutorial. :goodpost:

It looks like I'll be self-relaxing (for a minute).

I know when she gets out, she is going to try to return to work, but I'm now convinced it's just too much for her (right now).

Ok hey how y’all doing!? I tried to curl my hair but my curler is too big. But it was cute to see me do something to my hair. Do we have a brand of curler we like? I have babybliss now but just seeing if the streets have better. I’m not doing that Dyson 5k for I tussled w a curler results. I am so in awe I’m still not wearing a wig and wearing my own has been nice.

I wish I could explain how happy this made me!! I'm so happy for YOU! Keep it up and your hair will reward you with even more length!

I bought a cheap curling iron and they're still in the box. A couple of years ago, I bought some hot curlers and I plan to use them this year for my EOTY flat iron so I can't vouch for them yet.

Would you be interested in non-heat curlers? Relaxed hair usually does so well with things like flexirods/curlformers, paper bag/sock/silk scarf curling and old fashioned rollers and perm rods. Also, when I was trying to be cute and wore my hair out daily, I used to rock braid outs and bantu knot outs instead of flat hair.

Enjoy this season! Wigs will still be there for you when it's time to PS again.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I have a full on beauty shop with rollers but I’m one of those spur of the moment types to go out and wanted to be prepped if that urge to dress up vs my slick back.

I have rollers and flexi rods it’s insane.

Totally understand. :)

I'll report back once I use these hot rollers. They're good for spur of the moment curls. I think they only have to be left in for 20 mins so.
Theoretically, you could have them in your hair while doing makeup or nails! I bought Conair ones like these:

I didn't get the steam ones but ladies used to RAVE about these Caruso rollers:

You just a angel thank you!

I have absolutely fallen off since I washed, DC'd and installed these FIVE cornrows 4 weeks ago!! :look: I haven't washed and I have barely been M&Sing. I mixed up a sulfur mix for my scalp and that's partially why I've been afraid to wash bc it tarnishes my jewelry (which I rarely take off).

We do our Christmas early so I've been sooo busy! Our Christmas is this weekend and I'm debating doing my EOTY hair early but I really can't be bothered right now. I plan to do it for my annual Friendsmas chill night on the 27th. At the very least, I'm planning to wash and DC in the sink sometime today. lol

Anyway, been looking for hair inspo bc it helps with my visualizing. I have hit the jackpot looking through the old monthly hair feature threads!
OMG, we used to have so many gorgeous, long relaxed heads on here!!

More inspo:

I swear these are the types of heads that made me join the hair boards!!
I used to feel so good pulling my hair down to my collar bone bc that was long to me.
I used to be like Man, if I could just get to arm pit length no one would be able to tell me nothing! :lachen:

I’m not quite ready to traditionally relax yet because ya girl needs to be able to wash and go but I have been planning to use a Botox treatment like a relaxer/texturizer. I haven’t consistently done keratin treatment this way. I end up getting ends that are too straight from going over the ends too much. I chose my formula and and going to see if I can get past purgatory length(between SL and apl.)

It’s the perfect middle for me. My hair looks natural but it acts different from my natural hair. It accepts product so well I don’t have to slather my hair to have an effect. It accepts water vs beading on top and barely tangles or breaks. For now I’m pleased but let’s see how it goes for the long term.

And yes there is an old keratin thread but I would just be talking by myself there

And I love my hair when it’s all one length. Every thing is much easier with a blunt cut

Omg Alia had the hair of my dreams. Now a days people would say she has split ends but Maury determined that was a lie. Her hair is fine like mine and well taken care of

@Napp I’ve been researching some new smoothing treatments based on the active ingredients.

I’ve been reading about an ingredient called Seraliss RA: (Water (and) Glyoxyloyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein/Sericin (and) Glyoxylic
Acid (and) Sericin (and) Guar Hydroxypropyitrimonium Chloride). It’s found in a brand called Kerametik and Lacio Real. Kerametik has two options, a smoothing treatment or a keratin treatment. The smoothing treatment gives you the option to control how loose your results are. The keratin treatment seems to be the strongest option.

Lacio Real I’ve only found on websites in Spanish. It’s saying it’s a progressive relaxer. It seems to be applied like a Botox treatment. People with highly textured hair should use it twice a month until you get the results you want. But it cautions if you want to keep your curls then don’t use it because I think your hair will not revert back. There are a lot of videos on YouTube with Latina ladies using it.

Influance has come out with a product called Keratin Straightening System that uses S-Glyoxyloy/Acetyl Cysteine, Glyoxyloyl Cysteine, Bis-Glyoxyloy/Cystine as its active ingredient. I can’t find many reviews on this one.

Avlon Texture Release’s active ingredient is Proliss 100: (Glyoxyloyl Carbocysteine (and) Glyoxyloyl Keratin Amino Acids (and) Water). I’ve used that one in the past & did really like my results but it took a long time to revert & I feel like my hair didn’t completely revert. I just repurchased the system this summer but haven’t used it yet. I’ve been trying to see what other products are out there & if the technology has improved.

I’ve been thinking about trying the Influance or Kerametik one out.

I want it so that my results don’t revert. I read about one member here who used henna the same day she would do keratin treatments & her results did not revert. She only had to do her new growth. I’m scared to use henna the same day so I might try henna two weeks after a treatment.

I want an elongated/loosened curl pattern. When I used to texlax my hair, I could never get the results I wanted. It would start off looking like loose curls but then it would revert & I would have to do a corrective which would eventually lead to it looking like kinky straight hair instead of curls. But it was so much easier to manage than my natural hair and it was healthy & long so I just went along with it. But I have always loved curly hair.

Good conversation, @Napp and @VinDieselsWifey !

I am actually going to keep stretching for a whole year bc I prefer to have more new growth when I relax, it's easier for me to get good texture that way. So I am interested in ways to manage my new growth during the stretch. I had planned to just blow dry it but I'm also thinking about what to do if I have to wear it out for some reason. I have important events coming up. I like to look for your advice for straightened naturals, @Napp , for tips on things to use. So thanks for coming to share! We're all family here :)
