May 2016: Hits & Misses

Continued Hits:
Honey's Handmade Peaches & Honey pomade. Great shine, wonderful smell and a light hold. Happy this product was limited edition for the birthday box since this vendor is now on my ban list. I am stretching the remaining bit of the tin that leaked about 75% of the product during shipping due to the lid not being put on properly. I still have 1 tin in the fridge that I won't pull out for a looooong time.

Design Essentials Coconut & Monoi Curl Enhancing Milk. Consistently gives me soft, moisturized hair. A little goes a long way and keeps my hair moisturized for days. It plays well with other products, no flaking or white balls of gunk. Also great for detangling damp/wet hair. I want to try this for a wash n go if it ever warms up here.

My leave in mix. Lately I've been mixing Garnier sleek n shine leave in cream with Aphogee provitamin leave in and bamboo extract. Soft, supple, moisturized hair. After using this I don't have to remoisturize for the entire week. Will definitely keep mixing this up.

Hit:
Cowash with AIA cleansing cowash. I put it on, worked it down, massaged my scalp and rinsed. It's not bad, but I can't see myself only using this if I cowash.

SM Low Porosity Protein Free Conditioner. This is the one in the pump bottle. Nice consistency, and goes on well. The smell is on a level of high. The spearmint, tea tree and sage are very strong coming out the bottle. I liked it, especially the tingle, but even when it dropped on my shoulder, I could feel the "tingle". I used it to finger detangle and it worked out well. I used the coconut and hibiscus once and that stuff was a fail to the fifth power. Left my hair stiff. I definitely like the LPPFC but it will just be a cowash HG. This one honestly makes me want to give up the HP conditioner because it works so much better and I want it to fail. I also noticed my hair drying up a bit faster :look: I used it on DS hair once and left it in. Worked good. Of course I used a quarter pump so I didn't even realize the potency of that smell.

Damp bunning. I've never did this. This gone make me so lazy.

Finger detangling. Takes so long but my hair is to the point where natural dominates and the texlax ends are spectators. Majority rules :(

Miss:
These texlax ends, but a sista needs to exercise self control because I am always ready to go chop'em city on my hair.

Miss: Jessicurl DC in a bottle
I know I'm late but I really want her to put it back in a jar. The thickness is great until you get carpel tunnel trying to squeeze it out.

Hits:
APB Hair Creams
SM High Po gel
I wasn't sure about the application and it seemed like my hair was dry but when it dried my hair was defined, smooth, soft, and shiny. It might've been because of the APB cream I layered with it, but needless to say I was pleased.

Finger detangling. I don't remember when I started but it's been a couple of weeks since I used a comb and I've had 0 issues. Way less breakage!

Oyin boing! Great styler it's thick and doesn't flake. Has some nice moisture so when I do a midweek retwist I don't use a leave in under it. Will be picking up a 16oz before the end of the month. Only issue I have is the sides of the product drying up a bit from being left open too long I guess.

Miss:
Camille rose almond jai. Way too thin for me to use as a styler.

Camille rose curl maker.. It flaked on me when I used it with my hair dew so it had to go back..

Oyin whipped pudding... It caused a weird tingling sensation on my face. Not sure what ingredient is doing that but my hair is way too close to my face so I'm not even going to try to use it up.

So you felt like the LPPFC was good as a cowash? I was thinking about using it for this also since the line seems to work pretty good for me but wasn't sure how well it may work.

The AIA is good but for me I still felt like I needed to condition just a little. I used the LPPFC because I still needed to detangle. I'm not sure if it's good as a cowash but it's definitely worth a try.

New Hit
APB pineapple cupuacu styling custard. This has a light hold and is very moisturizing. I've used it on wet, damp and dry hair for Twist and braid outs and I was always very happy with the results. The twists and braids were always plump, frizz free and shiny and the resulting braid or Twist outs were always light and very defined. Next sale I'm getting a backup.

Hit: APB Simple Hair Cream
I read the previous reviews on this in the APB thread, but this light weight cream packs a nice moisture punch. I layered it with the SM High Po gel and while I don't get the added hold like I do with the Hair Creams, my hair is very soft and moisturized.
I agree with this. It's a very nice lighter weight cream, which I feel like my hair hair needs now.

I get in trouble when I come in this thread but thankfully I'm restricted from purchasing anything hair for 3 months:grin:.

MISS:

Cantu Shea Butter as a moisturizer is leaving my hair with a white cast. Eeew! I have to wash it out regularly. I will be finishing it up but I will not repurchasing it:nono:.

I always get in trouble. I do it too myself. And I take a lot of my sisters in here seriously. They ain't never lie. I was just running hiding packages from my husband today because NurCreations, SheScentIt and Bekura all thought it was cute to come at once :cry3:

The real struggle is determining who to try first :look:
