I didn't photoshop it. All I did was blow it up and take off the sides...same pic. It's on her u2.-----

Well, personally, I'm impressed with what she's been able to achieve. I understand and appreciate what Thiends has stated, but for me, I have never attained her hair length and frankly, I have never been able to sustain the discipline required to do so. I feel this way about anyone, from LHDC to mwedzi (by the way, the awesomeness of her hair and it is something like a phenomenon! :thud: I saw it in person a few weeks ago when we had lunch together - it's SPECTACULAR!!!! It wasn't flat-ironed but it was heat-stretched and I was kind of in awe, no joke. Oh, and she makes her own gloves! Okay, let me fall back and calm down. :look:  Ahem...) to sylver2 to anyone else who is able to accomplish retention and beautiful hair.

As for hyping... I don't follow Kimmay. Frankly, I think that the women here hyped it up much more than she did. And I think that part of that happened because people enjoy genuinely relish either talking about her questionable social skills or applauding her practices and knowledge, but obviously there are others who feel that they've taken this journey with her, which is cool.

I am now convinced that Kim is very much aware of what is said about her on forums.

If you go to her second blow out vid and click that little graph icon next to the number of view you will see some history about her video. Two of those links are from LHCF and BHM
:lachen:

ETA: seeing as how she knows what's being said about her here, i wouldn't be surprised if this delay was to spite us.

"I'll make they hair haters wait. Muhahahahahah" :whip:

Because that is where most of her traffic is coming from. Of course she knows ya'll are talking about her lol. Youtube keeps statistical data for you to let you know where most of your hits come from. I have that set up on my blog too from an independent site as well as google analytics.

me and my slow self. i just found this out today. dang, must be hard reading some of those posts about yourself. she seems sensitive so i know it would bother her. i wouldn't be surprised is she's a member here on the DL just to get those threads locked.

Can someone please explain this comment? What does her height have to do with anything? I don't get it.:perplexed

The actual length of her hair in inches is not breathtaking to me considering her height. If I was 5 inches shorter I would be way closer to my goals obviously.

Her hair is nice, but not jaw dropping. IMHO.

Her retention tho is amazing!

Her u2?? You mean short for youTUBE? YT? you too? :lachen:

Her hair looks fine to me. She mustn't feel a way about her edges, in fact she was up in the camera in her flat iron video inviting all of us near and far to look at it lol. I honestly think they're naturally that way...

I know techniques that have worked for many who thinned their edges out with mistreatment...but is it possible to change what you're born with (sorta like thickening up thin strands and I don't mean with henna...it seems almost impossible)

Does her hair REALLY look as bad as some say or is it just this miraculous expectation many had? It looks thicker than I thought it would (yeah, I know someone mentioned all was pushed over her shoulders) and it's a great length. She could use a trim for the unevenness factor but they don't look unhealthy to me.

Dammmmmmit! :lachen: as I just caught that...u2b...youtube! what the he// am I thinking about!!!

i think she's sensitive, though maybe not emotional. any criticism, be it mild or even a genuine question results in a harsh comment. i think being overly defensive is not too far off from being sensitive. i think that response video she made during the beef with taren (the one she sent to her subscribers in the middle of the night) showed it clearly. tough exterior but soft on the inside. :yep:

The negative comments made in those threads deserve to be locked, too.:nono:

this has to be the comment of the month.. brilliant just pure poetry boingboing love it!!

*clears throat*

Because someone who is like say 5 feet tall will hit WL before some who is 6 feet. WL on a 5 foot person may be BSL on a 6 foot person.

SOoooo (in most cases) shorter people will usually "hit goals faster". Like when you hear someone went from Ear length to WL in 6 months your like, "NO WAYYYY"!!!! Then you find out they are 2 feet tall and your like, "ohhhhh okay that makes since now".

Did that make sense? :lachen: Its doesn't make their HJ any less a struggle but it puts things in perspective when they hitting length goals left and right!

:Blush2: Thank you. I'm  you threw the part in about the gloves. Hope your twists held up as long as you wanted them to.
But yeah, you are probably right about everything else you said, too.

Her main focus was both. Healthy hair is hair that can retain length. And she did it through facts and informative videos that actually had proof. Most youtubers can easily say a certain conditioner is the ish because of this and that but they don't have any facts to prove it, no government websites or ph testing or anything. I believe that's why people do go hard for her. She backs it up easily.

Thanks I wasn't sure what her goal was since im not a subbie of her channel I just hear about her on the boards. I've seen people with great length but don't care about the health it is in. I didn't know she did alot of research that's interesting

This is one of the best comments I've seen today!

Look. Like? Move on!

hmm i think her thin edges are hereditary and i think she naturally has thinner hair. she can't help that. do i think her hair is amazing? no. but she does have great retention and i can't hate on her problems because they are hereditary. plus i have the same problems haha not everyone is going to have extra thick hair like lhdc or mwedzi (that's how you spell it right?). also why trim the ends? weren't there threads on here about leading hairs? i feel like if she was a member on here and not "kimmaytube", she'd get more praise because i've seen women with worse ends get tons of praise on here

her hair in that picture the OP posted looks great to me. It looks so thick! I wouldnt mind having that hair on my head @ all. can you imagine that hair professionally pressed?? :lick:

DISCLAIMER: I am in no way shape or form a kimmay fan. I have discovered her channel by lurking threads such as this. I am not a subscriber of hers now, in the past, nor will i be in the future.

It could be that when you're shorter, you're able to achieve you hair goals (esp. length) much faster than women 5'9 or taller.

I am a firm believer that the length of your torso has everything to do with achieving hair goals.

For instance, both my DDs are the same height 5'4"---my oldest has a long torso and my youngest has a shorter torso by a few inches. They can both have the same inches in length, but my youngest daughters hair will always appear longer if they both have the same length because her torso is shorter.

thank you for this post. this is my prob. my long torso is keeping me from APL.:ohwell:

Her hair looks good to me. Everybody wasn't born with thick hair. Thick or thin, her hair looks better than 99% of black women's.

That picture looks the same as the blow dry vid it really doesnt look flat ironed did i miss something did she that it was a flat iron pic

That reminds me of one of the latest Ateeya posts... somebody got busted out for criticizing when their hair didn't look half as nice as Ateeya's.

That right there is the truth. Granted there are few things that I am personally not impressed with her as far as her hair, but there is also her discipline and focus to get to her goal length that is certainly admirable.

She seems to be a go getter and someone who is on top of her finances, health, nutrition and business. It's that tenacity that attracts more people to her channel. When she does a video, you can't help but notice her toned body, the organization in her home, the editing skills of her videos and more. It's very admirable and inspiring. I just don't let that blur any blips (kimmaytude) that I notice about her. I give credit where it's due but if there is a side of negatives I will say something about that too.

Personally, I find this comment to be one of the most fitting that I've read. I've been avoiding threads like these as of late because it seems some want to focus on the attitude, and not the hair. Kim's a very dedicated and serious person, and I see that from her videos. She has made mistakes, and I'm not going to minimize those. At the same time, I'm not going to use them as a cover for picking apart her hair faults. Everyone's perception of something is different. What may look awesome for me, may be horrendous to others. Personally, I love how her hair looks in the picture. To me, it seems very thick and I hope to achieve a similar result when I reach my hair goals. What I can't seem to understand is why the comparisons to other people. It's like comparing apples to oranges. Just like they're two fruits with different characteristics, Kim's hair and other people's hair just won't be the same. Most of that is because of genetics, but it also influenced by personal hair practices.

That's a stretch.

Her hair may be longer, but that doesn't mean it looks better. Her hair does look good, but my hair is only APL and I don't think her hair looks any better/ healthier/ shinier/ and certainly not thicker than mine. There's some divas rocking short cuts, TWAs, and locs with better looking hair than Kimmay, let's be real.
