Kimmay's flat ironed pic

Well she's probably not that used to using flat irons and such and it's been at least two years without any type of heat and I'm guessing she didn't go to a professional so it prob wont be as straight.

i have been natural for about 9 or 10 years. i use to get my hair hot combed when I was transitioning. i cut that short. my mom was burning me LOL. i haven't used any heat in yearsssssssssssss. so if i did my flatiron myself, it would probably look not so straight. LOL

Kimmaytube's personality does not faze me, I do not find her hair impressive at all. I understand that she is inspirational to those who apparently watched her grow her hair out from very short to a decent length, but the wispy condition of her ends, her sparse edges, and the overall state of her hair leave much to be desired. Longhairdontcare2011's hair is gorgeous, but Kimmaytube? To each her own.

You know whats funny, i showed my mom her hair(yt video) and this was her face..:droolings...She asked me why was her hair so thin!? All i could say was "Well they said she knows what shes doing":lachen::ohwell:

I dont get the obsession with her at all.. Everyday i see a thread about her on here, i dont usually click on it..but lately i have because everyone has hyped up this invisible "Flat Iron" video?? Where is this video? Am i crazy? I have yet to see a video:look:????

Her hair looks the same as the blow dry vid! i definitely was expecting more! I'm sorry but I must say her hair does not look flat iron and I dont think she did flati iron! That could be why the pic was so small! Her hair would be longer if she truly flat iron!

Also would like to note that I am sub to her and I love her vids! I dont care for her personality but I love all the great info she gives!

short for youtube

Oh okay, that's what I thought but I saw a post where someone said it's not on youtube... how did the OP get that pic from youtube if it's not there? I just went there and do not see a flatironed video.

Edited to Add: Nevermind. I see where WyrdWay said it's from her icon on her youtube channel.

Here's another one, it's really small though:

Can someone please explain this comment? What does her height have to do with anything? I don't get it.:perplexed

*clears throat*

Because someone who is like say 5 feet tall will hit WL before some who is 6 feet. WL on a 5 foot person may be BSL on a 6 foot person.

SOoooo (in most cases) shorter people will usually "hit goals faster". Like when you hear someone went from Ear length to WL in 6 months your like, "NO WAYYYY"!!!! Then you find out they are 2 feet tall and your like, "ohhhhh okay that makes since now".

Did that make sense? :lachen: Its doesn't make their HJ any less a struggle but it puts things in perspective when they hitting length goals left and right!

It could be that when you're shorter, you're able to achieve you hair goals (esp. length) much faster than women 5'9 or taller.

I am a firm believer that the length of your torso has everything to do with achieving hair goals.

For instance, both my DDs are the same height 5'4"---my oldest has a long torso and my youngest has a shorter torso by a few inches. They can both have the same inches in length, but my youngest daughters hair will always appear longer if they both have the same length because her torso is shorter.

Too bad it's not professionally done...I think that would do her hair the most justice

ITA. At the end of the day there's less body to cover. simple. It's still an effort but they will reach their goals faster.

I am new to the whole Kimmay thing, but I don't get why she isn't getting much credit. If this was an LHCF member, everyone would be drooling, edges, lack of straightness, height aside:ohwell:. I see plenty of people on this board with hair like hers or no where near her's and they get alot of compliments. I understand her attitude and voice annoys people. But is it possible to seperate those qualities from her hair? Just wondering...:ohwell:

Thanks HoneyComb! I think I like the way that sounds, for once being short will work in my favor...:lachen:

Two videos of her blown out hair = double the video hits

Picture of flat ironed hair on channel page = more channel hits

Still no flat iron video…

It looks okay. I think my expectations were too high because of all the buildup and hype leading up to to the flat iron reveal. Then again LHCF expectations are usually higher than the everyday commoners. With the Renieces, Mwedzis, LHDC2011s, Auburns, Brittanynics, BlackMasterpieces, Creolefoxes, Pinkskates, zzirvingjs, tberry2688s and more (please give me a moment to catch my breath, their hair is gorgeous...:lick:), we are used to phenomenal flat iron results. I'm sure once she improves her technique and probably does it more, the jobs will hopefully look betterIMO.
I think she should give Reniece a call, share the limelight a little. She can make a 15 minute video just swanging that hair:yep:

P.S I wonder why she removed the natural hair guru banner next to her name?

She created too much anticipation for her flat iron reveal. Can you imagine if someone did that on this board? posting a new thread every couple days saying "Okay guys I'm going to flat iron 1 month from now!!" "okay guys one week from now" "tomorrow" "30 seconds" and so on! Anyone with that ridiculousness is sure to get called out whether they're on LHCF or not.

We're not all angry bishes, but we just don't like that tomfoolery :drunk:

I think most people should remember that this her 1st time using heat to straighten her hair. Her coils are tightly bound and will take some time to get used to straightening easily.
Even Mwedzi said she had to go to Reniece several times to get her hair used to heat in order to achieve the final results that we see in her thread.

My first time flat ironing as a natural, my ends were bushy and some parts of my hair was reverting while I was flat ironing.
Since I don't use heat often, my hair likes to curl back up. So even nearly a year later, my hair lasts maybe a day or two before it wants to go back.

I think it looks beautiful. When I flatiron my own hair it looks big and bouncy just like that. If I go to the salon its silky and completely straight (avatar pic).

She's probably better off not going to a salon because they might try to cut it or cause some heat damage.

Thanks boingboing, somehow I missed your reply. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Please remember that height does not matter. Unless you're trying to get to knee length, the length of the torso is what matters and if you don't know the length of someone's torso, you really should not comment on their height. Ex: Traycee and I have the same back measurements. She's 5'2 and I'm 5'7. I remember NJoy and I having the same measurements to WL as well. She's 5'7 as well. Who knows what Kimmay and other short ladies' measurements are. Then you have to factor in big arse heads and long necks. Those take up extra inches as well. Please stop discrediting others' journeys and/or making excuses for yourself based on height.

HA HA!!! So, she posted a two part blow out video. Then decided to put up a flat iron PIC with no video?!?!?!?!

Got my drank!

I kind of like natural hair that isn't bone strait when flat ironed. It looks more healthy to me. I hope people keep it positive if she posts a video.

I agree; I don't think its necessary to flat iron it bone straight and that can be damaging to the hair.

Well, my hair is nearly hip length, so no excuses needed here, yet I still say torso length matters because I see the difference in torsos between, for instance, my sister and myself (there is a nearly 5" height difference). Just because you don't agree doesn't mean that people who point out what should be obvious to anyone are making excuses.

Waist length is 30" for me. Most women who mark waist length don't have anything near that length of hair. So, when a woman for whom waist length is 22" says that she reached it in x number of years, does that mean much to me and my hair journey? No.

Til this day, I'm trying to figure out what does height have to do with length....hair isn't math!! Length of any...ear, sl, apl, bsl, wsl, tbl, is measured accordingly to the individual's height (only....) but I guess the trend is to compare one another and say.....you're not that length b/c I'm not:drunk:

This right here!!! I sometimes wonder if her efforts/ practices are being negated (by some) because she did it on her own and not as part of an online community.

Kimmay seems to have retained damn near every millimeter of hair she's grown in the past 2 years or so. How many of us have hair that's 12" longer than where we were 2 years ago? And before I get called a KT groupie, I actually unsubscribed to her after the whole Taren/ Afr.Export drama, however I can still be objective and applaud her for the progress she's made with her hair.

I'll continue to be inspired on my own.
