People better know whether they live in a community or separate property state. You can sit an hide all the money you want but if it is discovered in the event of a divorce your spouse may be entitled to half. If your state is separate property, depending on the source of that income in your secret account, your spouse may still have rights to it. If you hide that money during divorce disclosures your spouse may be entitled to ALL of it.
