Fall 2011 Steaming Challenge

^^^^^ I just finished steaming for 40 mins with Silk Dreams Vanilla Silk DC and Enso Cocoa Curl Recovery dc + hempseed oil. Hair is :lick:

well I christened my new steamer last night .... and I cant believe I went this long without one !!!!!!

I clarified, did a aphogee 2 min light protein, then DCd with HV sitrinillah under the steamer for 30 mins. Sitrinillah normally works well for me but with the steamer it was just fabulous. !!!

I also gave myself a facial for the last 10 mins of my steam

bajandoc86 my girl di ting ah seh one !!!!!!

yep and Ive made a nice lil nook in the living room for it, set up so I can watch TV or be on my lappy while I use it.

my kitty isnt too pleased with the lil gurgling noise it makes sometimes, which provided some comical moments .... but he'll get used to it soon.

I wasnt able to make it to MegaMart but I got some deionized water (which is like distilled water) at the gas station. Im looking for a gallon sized bottle though, should be more economical.

Steamed today with Zuresh Conditioner. I think I did a better job steaming. Didn't put in too much water and didn't have the hood up too high. Next time still need to lower it a bit. I put the conditioner in and twisted and pinned my twists to the top of my head.

Going to use the Zuresh again next week. Think I am going to have to give it a couple of tries to really see how I like it. I want to compare steaming with the Zuresh with doing an oil rinse and then steaming.

I will be a steaming fool when my steamer arrives later this week (my steamer was sent to the LCL beauty ER for repairs).

Didn't get my AOWC but decided to purchase a sample of Komaza Oilve oil mask. I mud washed steamed with AOGPB and am now steaming with Komaza olive oil mask. I don't like the texture to much its like a butter. I love creamy conditioners. Lets see how it goes....

Hello All,

I did my first steam treatment in months. I just moved back into the country and my items (hair tools) just arrived. I use a Huetiful Steamer.

So I DC'd with Curls Coconut Dream condish....

Great pictures. I can definitely see the difference in the curls :yep:

Two steam treatments done for the week.

Tuesday: Prepoo with Olive Oil, with a moist towel and heating cap
Friday: Prepoo with Hot Six Oil, with a moist towel and heating cap.

 I'd like to join! I'm actually due for a steam today.

1. How often you will steam - Once a week (or week and a half)
2. What steamer you are using - Huetiful
3. What products you steam with - AO WC, might try some other oil based conditioner also.
4. When will you start - Starting today!

There may be a few exceptions, for example if I put back in my chunky yarn twists then I will miss a week or so of steaming.

My steaming regimen consists of detangling with Aussie Moist and a wide tooth comb. Then I shampoo with Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap diluted with water (1:3). After that, I don't condition. I get out of the shower, put the AO WC on each section and sit under the steamer for one regular session facing forward and half a session facing backwards. (The hood doesn't get the nape area well.)

I'm excited!!

AO WC = Aubrey Organics White Camellia Conditioner

just finished hennaing my hair, and about to steam with sheamoisture deep treatment mask

ETA OK just finished steaming, my hair doesnt rlly care for shea moisture products (as conditioners) they're fine for twists.

I forgot this. I had actually planned to steam with one of my BFH condotioners:lick:

... oh well, there's always next week

SimJam If you can't get distilled water, you can boil the water and use that in place of the distilled water.

I'm actually excited about steaming this weekend since the weather is so cool. Decided I'm going to apply some oil and steam and then apply my conditioner and then do a long DC. Definitely want to see how this works out. Come on Saturday!

Is anyone steaming with braids? My natural hair is is cornrows so I'm not sure if I'm still able to steam.

Sent from my ADR6300 using ADR6300

TopShelf I rebraid every 4 weeks. I shampoo, tea rinse and DC with my braids in. I just dilute the shampoo and dc in water and use a spray bottle. I don't want too much build up at the base of the braids, hence why I use shampoo instead of cowash. When I have single braids with extensions I only rebraid the edges at the 4 week mark.
