i dont really understand how it works -does one person rate the thread and thats how the stars stay?

i agree with what everyones saying- this site is for givin' encouragement and help not puttin each other down!

I know. Seeing that has been bugging me as well. I go out of my way to give it a 5 star when I see things like that. Why the need to give an update ONE star?? I personally think that feature should be removed. It's a bit clique anyway imo (at times). Half the time I don't know if the rating is because the hread was hated or the reader didn't get anything from it so they rate it a one. Know what I mean? Either way it's unnecessary imo.

The star rating system is just a cowardly way for people to express their unwarranted childish hatred without anyone knowing who they are. I say keep it, these people are misserable and if we can improve their lives by allowing them to hide behind a star and be nasty towards other members....well, we've done our community service here.

Dang, this thing is getting pretty deep. I am so lucky that i am not that detail oriented so i never ever pay attention to how many stars a thread gets. :ohwell: But as the mods always say...this board is open for folx under the age of 18 so we can't expect everyone to act like an adult. maybe they should think about deleting the star rating system. Or only have a system with 0 stars and 5 stars and alot of people will have to vote in order to get 5 stars...but everything else will be 0 stars... It takes away the abuse system and it also still provides a way for us to search and identify good helpful threads...
 
To tell the truth, I have never paid attention to the stars.

I feel we all have things to share, ask, and discuss.

The stars (to me) are like opinions.

And we all know about opinions............
 
I always see the stars but didn't know what they meant. I thought a thread got a lot of stars when it had a lot of responses. lol I had no idea who was putting the stars there. lololol WHoo! Okay, duh! So, people can actually rate someone's thread. That's crazy! It seems like if you don't like the thread then you just ignore it.

This sounds like a really good idea. I can't believe so many people never noticed the stars!! Well, I DO love detail, so that's probably why I did.

I don't think it's a lurker just someone or someones who life is miserable...I have never noticed the stars and don't really care....you got haters everywhere...this is nothing new to me.....this all ties in to what I was talking about how women treat each other...most women never have anything nice or positive to say about another women...and that is sadddddddd.....I know the nastiness, distasteful attitude firsthand from a thread that was shut down recently....and I followed that particular individual posts all across the board...and damn near all of her threads are negative...( not a stalker:lachen: ) but I personally don't care about the ratings...I never get rated on my threads but...Do I care ask?....ask me again....DO I care?... hell to da naw:p cuz I get private emails from ladies asking me questions and it makes me feel good to know that I can help the next person reach her goals...and damn it, if you ask me if your hair is bra-strap...imma say yah...cuz I don't want to hurt anyone feelings....that's not me....:)

It's not the fact that it's "important", I just find it hateful that after people are kind enough to give us upates on their progress (which no one really has to do) some of us like to go and kick that person in the stomach. It probably makes me more annoyed than the person it happened too. Some women are just so friggin catty about everything. I'll be posting my updates soon and by George if I get a one star I'mma come and shoot the place up :lachen: :lachen: :lachen: :lachen:
 
Wow, I never really paid much atention to the star ratings! I feel slow for not even seeing it! I cannot even come up with a bad reason for rating positive threads with one star. It's sad, but it doesn't affect the validity of the thread so it doesn't bother me nor deter me from entering the thread. I'm sure it doesn't bother you ladies either, so just keep on keeping on!:)
