I faithfully wash and steam DC my hair every week but have had a couple of instances where I’ve either been unwell or away from home and have gone 2 weeks without doing so :nono:. It felt soo good to finally shampoo after these periods.

I voted, "Other." I have gone as long as 4 or 5 weeks without washing my hair! That was a few years back, during a time of illness, and also during my transition where wash day took a couple hours and I just didn't have the strength or wherewithall to fool with my hair!

Recently, I have been going about 3-4 weeks sans washing b/c its braided. I'm also transitioning again, and it takes a long while to wash in sections and then detangle. My hair has actually thrived during these long periods. I think my hair likes being kind of oily and definitely likes being left alone. My scalp doesn't like it for more than about 3 weeks (I get the "itchies")...but I haven't sustained any damage to either. My grandma always used to talk about my great-grandma who had past WL hair, and only washed every few months or so. Grandma has WL or longer hair and washes every few days, mostly due to psoriasis...not because she or her hair prefer it, I think.

Infrequent washing works for some, not others. There was a time where I washed daily with shampoo and DC. Also another time where I did CW's daily. My hair has been its thickest with the infrequent washing. It was moisturized with the daily washing and healthy, but a lot thinner. During all these changes in my wash schedule, I enjoyed the experimentation; my hair was never shorter than BSL during all that until I decided to cut it the first time to a short cut, and the second was a BC after my 1st transition.

I think the combing to detangle is what made the frequency a no-no for my hair. I'm not one of those who can wash without combing with a comb afterwards. If I just finger-combed, I would look like Lisa Bonet (with dreads/locs) in a few short days. I like the infrequent washing because I am often tired, sick, and have a lot of other things on my plate than to spend 2 hrs messing with my hair. Those days are over.

Normally every Week when its out, which I was gonna change anyway, because My Hair is extremely fragile when wet, so I was gonna start stretching it to 10 Days to 2 Weeks, but right now, its every 4 to 5 Weeks because I am doing a Mini-Challenge with a Growth Aid and I'm wearing cornrows under wigs till I am 6 Months post, I know, Yuck :nono:, but this is what it is right now, I am doing it to measure My actual growth from the TRMNT. using the braids to measure.

Girl, don't feel bad. I am doing practically the SAME thing. My hair is braided underneath my LF's and I also use a growth aid. I go about 4 weeks between washings due to the length and thickness being hard to detangle and wash in sections. My hair is thriving, so I don't really care what anyone else thinks! :look:

For me I used a 2 week strategy, because I decided to switch to regular co-washing every 2-3 days and I would wash my hair every 2 weeks. This helped improve my hair's texture and kept it moisturized. However, with me adding castor oil to my regimen, I had to resume washing at least once a week to prevent build-up.

The longest I can go without washing my hair is 4 maybe 5 days max. My hair starts feeling cruddy and i'm a recovering washing addict. I used to wash everyday and had to slow down. Not that it is Winter I don't have to wash as much so i'll go 3-4 days.

I know thats right, I feel the same way, Like some, who can wash and co-wash and wet their hair regularly, is a No-No for Me, My hair will melt off My head. To be honest, before I found LHCF, I was a Low-Manipulator and thats when I accumulated most of My growth, Go Figure! :ohwell:

Unfortunately, when I rock my weaves, i could go some weeks without a good wash and DC because the quick weaves are a cap and I can't wet that up. When I'm not in a weave the longest is a week.

i've gone about 7 or 8 days without washing my hair...

not for any reason. sometimes i travel for work and i just don't have any time to deal with it.

my hair tends to shed more as the days go on... and it gets super oily. so i'd rather not wait more than 5 days.

I've gone about a week without washing since LHCF, but that's rare because I usually co-wash 2-3x a week

I voted 2 weeks and that only cause I was sick..I normally wash my hair on Fridays and if I'm sick on Friday I have to wait til the following Friday..which means that it'll be 2 weeks in between washing my hair..I hate the wait that long...besides and I normally rinse in between...

2 weeks and that's because I was extremely busy with work and was too tired. Other that I do my hair twice a week and yes I believe it has helped with retention.

3 friggen weeks, cause my family kept me running around and I couldn't do my hair over the xmas holiday. I hate it when family gets in your way and your time is not your own. Really hate it. That is my me time and I love it. I do weekly washes so really when the week is up I do need to wash my hair.

I don't think much happen to my hair, I think my ends could do better but unsure if it is because I am anxious over it not being washed.

I went washing for 2 weeks a couple of times and hated it! I usually wash once maybe twice a week.

When I first joined I was a frequent washer, I would wash/co wash minimum of 3 times a week. It wasn't until I went 12 days with out washing (the longest I went with out washing since joining) that I realized that I'm not a frequent washer kind of girl. My hair is too weak when is wet, causing breakage and thinning out. Now I try to only wash once a week.

The longest i've went i would say a week from being sick cant go any longer than that.

1.5 weeks because my hair was straight :) Before LHCF I washed just about every day... w/shampoo  I know better now

Yeah...I have gone 3 weeks because sometimes I get hair lazy, but my hair prefers 1 to 2 weeks at the most... frequent washes aren't good for me...

I wash once weekly but will do a special wash in between if I cut the grass or something equally sweaty. I do not think some people are aware of how their hair smells. I get in the elevator at work sometimes and smell dirty hair. Everyone's hair will LOOK nice but that corn chippy smell is overwhelming to me. My daughter's friend was over last week and she has gorgeous shoulder length hair that she wears in a wrap. She is a lovely young lady but every time she walked past me - straight Doritos.

Before I found LHCF I would shampoo and condition my hair 1x a week; however, I wouldn't always DC my hair. Now I go every 2wks to a month before I use shampoo and co-wash/ DC 1-2x a week.
