Okay my new test for reaching my hair goal is if I am happy with it ( if it's bouncy, strong, healthy and looks good to and on me ) and I'm happy so I guess my goal is met.:reddancer:

When Im one inch past goal. This means my hair, which splits easily, would still be at my goal if I needed to trim.

ITA with this! I measure my goals by when the back of my hair hangs on it's own at a particular spot. I agree with HoneyA that it has to LOOK, without a doubt, to be at a particular goal before I will claim it. I can't be doing backbends and contorting myself just to stretch a piece of hair to show it's at a certain length... it has to speak for itself.

:lachen::lachen:true,trueh

The majority of my hair has to be past that length. I have layers and bangs that I'm trying to grow out so it's just easier to claim it when some of the short layers have reached the goal....that way, I can continue to gradually cut the longer layers without compromising the goal I wanted.

I don't want to be pulling muscles tryna tug my hair just to claim MBL or WL. :nono:

I consider a goal met when most of my hair is at least 1 inch past goal... I just want to be able to trim and remain at goal length.

I agree with most people I consider myself a length when my back reaches it due to the fact that my sides have ALWAYS grown slower. I remember being excited I reached my SL and then someone informed me I wasn't "full" sl. It was true but it hurt cause I can't make my hair grow the way I want and if I wait on being full apl, bsl, wl it may not happen for 5-10 years per milestone, I wonder why many of us have hair that grows like this

I feel it is when my back reaches waist length, then I will get more frequent trims to maintain that length so the rest of my hair catches up...

Because your head is a sphere and the hair that fall there is falling from a higher line than your back hairline as well as from the top of your head. This is why although I like body lengthchecks I'm also interested in inches as well, because my bangs are neck length but within 1" of the length of my hair at my bra strap in the back (if that makes sense).

^^Thank you for this! I am always so confused when people say their sides/top grow slower when in actuality due to the shape of your head, you have a longer way to go at those spots. I have measured my hair in multiple spots and get about the same length in inches, but they all show up different places on my body. I measure from my bangs because they have the longest way to go from my hairline.

My hair is cut in layers, so I measure my goals by the back. I'm not aiming for a blunt look.

My hair is naturally in layers (considering that Im growing from a low BC) so I measure goals using the back of my hair. When hair from abt ear length or a lil bit below, reaches my goal .

i think i'll claim my next goal (APL) when the majority of my hair sits there and is fairly blunt, with nice, healthy ends.

I'm desperate right now, when the first few strands cross the finish line you bet I'm going to claim it and tell the rest of those bad boys to hurry up.

when the back reaches it. some people have "natural bangs" so some parts in the front might never reach to their waist, even though it does in the back. if only a few strands touch it thought, i dont think it counts, they should probably wait a few more months and see if they reach their goal lol

I kind of agree this is why I still haven't claimed waist length even though people are telling me I am. I want to be past it on the sides of my hair as well so I can just trim and maintain. Now the front of my hair will probably never reach my waist.

Ms Lala, your hair is beautiful!! (the front will get there too :))

When my crown reaches my goal. My hair grows in different speeds, the back the fastest and the front is slower. The middle is a medium and a good way for me to measure.

When the back of my hair fully covers the goal I consider it met. My crown just doesn't grow longer than the back of my hair. The strands at my crown are the same length as the strands at the back but they are higher up my head so my crown appears shorter. I figure if your hair is out and you clearly are APL or BSL or whatever, people will comment on your nice APL, BSL, etc. hair. They are not going to come and inspect your hair to see if your crown or your sides are shorter. As long as my hair is full, thick and healthy and it is clear I have met my goal (i.e. if I am APL there is no mistaking it), I consider it met:yep:.

agreed 100%

I consider a length goal met only when the majority of my hair reaches the goal. Otherwise, I would have been claiming hip length already. About 1/3 of my hair (the very back) reaches hip length already, but the rest of my hair is between waist and hip length, so I claim waist length and keep it moving.

It looks a bit ridiculous to me when women claim a certain length and then I see that only the very tip of the very back of their hair reaches the goal length claimed, while the rest of their hair is clearly far off. Most of the hair has to reach the length goal for me to buy it; otherwise, claiming it just seems premature. If the hair is layered, then the entirety of a thick layer has to reach the length goal for me to buy the claim.

Wish I could give double thanks. My hair is grazing APL, but that is when I flat iron and stretch to death. Once it hangs and touches APL with just a light stretching if in it's natural state or a flat iron no stretching, I will consider myself APL. Otherwise it feels phony. And I think it will feel that much more gratifying if I was full APL.

I consider the goal met when most of the hair (whether that is the back or sides) reaches the goal length. My hair grows in a natural "W" shape, so I always have to trim the sides back and wait for the middle to catch up...my sides are WL, but I'm not comfy claiming that until I get a few more inches in the middle, hopefully by end of Dec. I can consider it WL altogether.

My hair is slightly layered and will probably always be layered as i prefer the look so I personally go by when the back of my hair or the bottom layer is at least a 1/2 inch past my goal line or else i feel as if im just grazing.

This is very true. Especially with the end of the year right around the corner, I know lots of people will want to know when to claim the next milestone.
