when the whole nape area covers the area (e.g- when the nape covers the whole bra-strap and not just a few strands toughing bsl). imo, if everybody waiting until their whole hair was at a certain position, they'd be meeting goals at a much slower rate and would have to trim certain parts of their hair in order to make the claim. you hair never all grows in one uniform length.

I'm tough on myself. I won't claim SL until EVERY strand is touching my shoulder. I'm pretty sure the back is already there but i'm patiently waiting for it all to get there. I'm not keen on layers.

Since I am aiming for a long blunt eventually my goal is met when all sides of my hair is the same length. Right now I am about an inch to an inch and a half from APL and my sides are SL.

My goal is to be APL all around.

I consider my hair length goal to be met when the longest layer of my hair touches my goal line.

I  layers so I don't need ALL of my hair to reach my waist for my goal to be met.

i will consider myself at my goal length when the hair in the back of my head reaches it, because the hair in the front of my head and grows like 10 times slower

all of the above.

because it's exciting when the bottom layer (nape) of your hair hits a milesone. and it's exciting when more of the hair reaches that milestone. and it's "complete" when the crown/front reaches it - even if the other parts of your hair now reach a longer spot.

that's why i currently say, "shortest layer is (insert length), longest layer is (insert other length)."

My goal is midback length, and I would prefer most of my hair to be there, including my front and sides. I want a full head of mid-back length hair!

I measured my hair in the front and back. When I measure and they meet my goal then that is it. With coily hair it is subjective cuz shrinkage is a *****. Healthy hair is the key with me. My hair has never been this long in my life. So this is all good. Growing my hair long in my idea is gravy on the healthy hair express train.

TQ

I voted 'other'. I consider my goal met when most of my hair touches this point, however, if the back of my hair was at my goal but the sides were still 3 inches away I'd wait untill they grew out more.

I also consider my goal met when it reaches where I think it should be. For example, my bra strap length seems to be what others may call mid-back.

When my hair is one inch past the line, I consider my goal met, but best believe once ONE strand not two three or four lol touch the durn line...I'm doing my happy dance

For me... when the back reaches goal (while the front, crown and or sides may be 2 or more inches away)

As long as the back reaches BSL and my sides reach APLish, I will consider my goal length reached.

i think u have reached your goal when the back is at your goal. most people have the hair cut in layers so , it is unfair to say just the back tells you if your hair has reached its goal.:ohwell:

I think it's when the majority of the hair has reached the goal. If I had to wait for my bangs to reach collarbone for claiming it, that would be an eternity.

For me, it has to be most of the hair, and in the back. My hair is very short in front because my cat chewed it off as a kitten (:() so I can't wait for that. I'm also don't really want a blunt cut, so there's no need to wait until it's all at my goal, but I won't trim the front and will allow it to grow to it's heart content...if it ever does.
It also has to be healthy hair; waist length won't count this year, for me, if i have three inches of split ends.

Short term goals, when most of the back reaches. My full term final goal, I will claim it when I have my back layers even at MBL, and the shorter layers at full BSL.

I consider my hair goals met when all the hair on the entire back of myhead reaches that point. The front and sides do not have to be touching it. I do however want full thick tresses at that point:yep:.

Whew...I see I'm not alone in my thinking! The one to three strands touching APL, BSL etc. is what really gets on my nerves even more than hiking the bra strap or tilting the neck back. :ohwell:

I don't think the bra strap should be used in measuring hair length. It's not accurate because bras sit higher or lower. It depends on the bra and the person. You should judge if your hair hits below the shoulder blade or BSB.

TM2C...

i voted like the majority. my hair is longer in the back and gradually is shorter as it comes around to the front. just the way it was cut. i have a few strands reaching BSL right now but i want the shorter layers to reach BSL as well. length and fullness is the key! so i consider myself APL.

I agree with this. My bra strap sits low on my back, and I'm somewhat long-waisted as well, which can be a little frustrating. I like actually measuring my hair with a tape measure :yep:

OMG....your hair is GORGEOUS!!! :yep:

That's actually a good point. Looking at the picture in my siggy, my bra strap damn near sits on my waist. It seems like mid-back would be in between APL and BSL on me. Which then, would change my goal from BSL to mid-back. I know exactly where I want my hair to lay; in the middle of my back. I just seems like, with that particular bra, if I reach that spot, I still won't be at my goal. :perplexed

ETA: Okay, I was wrong. I think my brastrap is in the right place. According to the chart, brastrap is right under the breasts. That's about where the tip of my bra is. I was thinking my second roll was right above my waist. But, no, it's the third!!! :lachen:

I don't want my hair 1 length all the way around. I'm aiming for my shrinkage to be a shoulder-length with some layers.
