Okay my new test for reaching my hair goal is if I am happy with it ( if it's bouncy, strong, healthy and looks good to and on me ) and I'm happy so I guess my goal is met.:reddancer:

ITA with this! I measure my goals by when the back of my hair hangs on it's own at a particular spot. I agree with HoneyA that it has to LOOK, without a doubt, to be at a particular goal before I will claim it. I can't be doing backbends and contorting myself just to stretch a piece of hair to show it's at a certain length... it has to speak for itself.
I don't understand why most people chose when their back reaches goal but the majority of people who claim a length that I see on here claim it when one strand is touching. I just thought the poll results would be different.
I agree with most people I consider myself a length when my back reaches it due to the fact that my sides have ALWAYS grown slower. I remember being excited I reached my SL and then someone informed me I wasn't "full" sl. It was true but it hurt cause I can't make my hair grow the way I want and if I wait on being full apl, bsl, wl it may not happen for 5-10 years per milestone, I wonder why many of us have hair that grows like this
My hair is cut in layers, so I measure my goals by the back. I'm not aiming for a blunt look.
I consider a goal met when most of my hair is at least 1 inch past goal... I just want to be able to trim and remain at goal length.
I kind of agree this is why I still haven't claimed waist length even though people are telling me I am. I want to be past it on the sides of my hair as well so I can just trim and maintain. Now the front of my hair will probably never reach my waist.
When the back of my hair fully covers the goal I consider it met. My crown just doesn't grow longer than the back of my hair. The strands at my crown are the same length as the strands at the back but they are higher up my head so my crown appears shorter. I figure if your hair is out and you clearly are APL or BSL or whatever, people will comment on your nice APL, BSL, etc. hair. They are not going to come and inspect your hair to see if your crown or your sides are shorter. As long as my hair is full, thick and healthy and it is clear I have met my goal (i.e. if I am APL there is no mistaking it), I consider it met.
I consider a length goal met only when the majority of my hair reaches the goal. Otherwise, I would have been claiming hip length already. About 1/3 of my hair (the very back) reaches hip length already, but the rest of my hair is between waist and hip length, so I claim waist length and keep it moving.
It looks a bit ridiculous to me when women claim a certain length and then I see that only the very tip of the very back of their hair reaches the goal length claimed, while the rest of their hair is clearly far off. Most of the hair has to reach the length goal for me to buy it; otherwise, claiming it just seems premature. If the hair is layered, then the entirety of a thick layer has to reach the length goal for me to buy the claim.
