Nevermind.....I saw Thermasilk Gel.....
I gotta learn how to read......

Thanks Karonica /images/graemlins/smile.gif. And yes I have a love affair with Thermasilk S&S, but I also use ABBA Gel Lotion or Aubrey Organics Mandarin Jelly.

And thanks again for the compliments everyone! I owe a lot of my hair's progress to all the stuff I learned at the old LHL board and all the fantastic things I am learning on this new board.
You ladies are great! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Monicurl, your natural hair is beautiful, girl. How did you do the KemiOyl updo? Very cute. My hair isn't as thick as yours, but I think I could rock that style.

I can tell my hair's getting longer by:
1. The way it bends now because it's touching my shoulder (YAY!!!) I haven't seen that bend since I started doing my own hair in the fifth grade and I ain't telling ya'll how long that's been.

2. Knowing I should wear my hair up and protected cause it's truly wintertime here in Jersey but I'm so happy with the length and condition of my hair that I can't bear to keep it up all the time. I have it out today and I know better!

ohhhh Monicurl

i absolutely love your hair. i just cant believe how quickly it has grown .

my hair wants to be just like yours when it grows up and out /images/graemlins/smile.gif

...several times you catch sisters eye-ing up your hair, perhaps wondering if its weave or not but not being able to ask or not wanting to ask (for fear of knowing it is NOT a weave perhaps???).

OK I KNOW this is old but I just HAD to post this.
I was out eating with a guy friend of mine and I had dessert and a gnat FLEW at me and I half heartedly fluttered it away with my hand. When we got back to MY place he is sitting beside me and says there is a bug in your hair. Of course I am like WHAT!!! He pulls it out (still alive no my jheri juice didnt drown it LOL) and it was the GNAT! WTF??? Of course I washed my hair...just in case Mr. Gnat invited some friends to hang out in my hair. But I am tripping because Mr. Gnat was CAUGHT UP IN MY WIG for about 2 hours...was it lost?...is there a maze in my hair I don't know about?...do other bugs use my WIG as an obstacle course? THis means that Mr. GNAT hung out inthe car ride and was chilling with us watching TV...what the H$ll was it doing.....YUCK....but I promise I don't have a flock of gnats in my hair..I just thought this was too funny not to share!!!!! Hmm guess my weave is growing because I DIDNT feel Mr. Gnat at all! LOL!

Beautiful Hair Monicurl and you are very creative with it as well. Happy Hair Growing. Between the beautiful relaxed, texturized and natural hair. Ladies, it makes me so happy to see all this lovely hair. Bonjour.

-people actually ask you what you're doing to make your hair grow

Pebbles, I get the above question alot too.

-my daughter wants to "play" in it more...that's a no-no!
-my husband wants to "play" in it more...another no-no!
-it's taking longer & longer for the roller sets to dry

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, nice and annoying at the same time. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Hmm....this is a great question

-When you hair dresser asks you what you are doing, or if you are taking vitamins

-Every time you unbraid your hair you see it getting bigger and bigger (that's a GREAT thing for me!)

-When you wash your hair you notice your hair now covers your eyes and gets in your mouth in the front

-When you wear twists and you turn your head quickly, your twists can slap you in your face, and they swing/bounce when you walk

-Your hair has outgrown your sleeping "bonnet"

-Your Afro Puff will touch the top of your car

This has been my experience so far. I can't wait to get to the "gets caught on my purse strap", and "sat on it" stage, LOL! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

You know one day I might just turn to someone staring me down and say yes it's all mine.
Funny people think my real hair is fake, and my weave is real, go figure. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

I was in a store recently and two men I had never seen before stood behind me arguing with each other. I didnt pay them any attention until I realized they were arguing over whether my hair was real or fake. Strange....

...washing your hair in the sink and combing it forward you have to "part" it to see thru it.

...your significant other has to "readjust" it sometimes when cuddling, etc. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

...you can "tickle" your significant other with your hair.

...it falls behind your shoulders and actually STAYS there!

...your cats think that it is some new type of teaser toy and keep swatting at it. /images/graemlins/grin.gif (Expecially when it is in braids.)

...your cat "attacks" your hair when he sees it move while you are napping in bed. Ouch!

Hi Robin, Thanks! /images/graemlins/smile.gif
About the style, basically all it is are 3 really large two strand twists. After I part it in 3, I pin back the 2 side sections and do the back piece first.
To get the smoothness I blow dry the hair to stretch it, then dip my hand in cold water and the KemiOyl to just dampen the hair. After that, I section it in 3, then use a boar hair brush to smooth the sections before twisting. I turn the twist in the very back upside down and bring it up and over the two pinned down side sections so that it forms a Y shape. Lastly, I tie a scarf on and sleep on it. When I get up, the scarf has flattened it so that it stays together for a couple of days or more.
Thanks again to all /images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Chasney did you say anything to them.

I think the attitude in me would have gotten the better of me and made some snide remark toward them.

Thanks so much! I will definitely be trying this style. I'm determined to keep my hair in protective styles this winter and only wear it out on special occasions. Right now I have it in two cornrows and I love just being able to moisturize and tie it down at night!

You know your hair is getting longer when the gray strand you pulled out a few weeks is back and is longer than it was the first time you tried to get rid of it.

Hahahahaha. Isn't that funny about gray hairs? I swear they some STRONG suckas. Like wire! I don't even bother mine and I got a few right smack in the middle of the front of my head. /images/graemlins/blush.gif Girl didn't your momma ever tell you if you pull those out two more will grow back in it's place? lol

LondonDiva,
Yes, it took some effort to hold back the annoyance I was feeling, but I politely told them it was my hair. Then one of the guys was like 'Oh..Well..We just wondered because so many sistahs have long, pretty hair but usually it ain't theirs.' I tried to explain to him that black women CAN and DO have long hair, but it was pretty much pointless because the guy had already decided otherwise. So I gave up, paid for my stuff and went home and to eat my chocolate ice cream /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Ladies on the street comment to each other, "If I had that much hair I would ....." (This happened to me the other day. I usually don't wear my hair down but I went out to the store with it out after getting it trimmed. It was kind of funny over hearing them talk about my hair.)

Wow, there's alot of negative thinking out there we just have to keep beliveing, Some of us haven't reached our goals yet I wonder what people's reactions will be then, Cause, knowing me, I will answer people.

Hi Leeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! I'm so happy to see hear you sweetie! Happy Holidays! (I'm still waiting for you and Charli to call me back) /images/graemlins/grin.gif
