What DON\'T you do to your hair?

I’ve come across a lot of posts concerning what a lot of ladies here have given up on their journey to long, healthy hair. What have you sacrificed?

Let me start. I’ve given up:
<ul type="square">
[*]relaxers
[*]grease
[*]weaves
[*]my old Scissor happy Stylist!
smile.gif

[*]Curling Irons
[*]My new flat iron (which I will currently sell to anyone who uses heat)

And last but not least I've given up...
[*]not taking the best care of my hair as I should!
[/list]

Re: What DON\'T you do to your hair?

neglect it (i conditoner washed like 3x this wk)

Re: What DON\'T you do to your hair?

as I said in a similar thread the other day, Ive given up STYLE itself...no looking cute....lol. I go around looking like a grannie with my bun all the time. The style grew on me because I used to refuse to wear it, but after a few weeks its like *SIIIIGGGGHHHH*, the BUN AGAIN.

other than that:
heat other than at the salon which is rare, and although I bought a new CHI a while back, Ive used it all of 2 times...

color--I fried my hair a little over a year ago and had to start from scratch, never again excepy maybe a clear cellophane

Re: What DON\'T you do to your hair?

What I DON'T do to my hair:
- direct heat
- unprotective hair styling (except once every 12 wks.
wink.gif
)
- unnecessary trimming of hair
- relax hair every month

*relax often
*no spritz
*no sleeping w/o scarf or bonnet
*go to my ex-stylist (scissor happy b****!)

What I DON'T do to my hair:

never spritz
put gell on it
hot curl it
comb it everyday
relax often
use heat often
neglect it

Re: What DON\'T you do to your hair?

I've dropped:

-Pressing &amp; any other type of heat for styling purposes
-Regular shampooing
-Using any products with ALS/SLS
-Using any products containing mineral oil &amp; petroleum
-I'm currently experimenting with not using products that contain 'cones

Re: What DON\'T you do to your hair?

I've given up the following:

relaxers
flat irons
curling irons
products loaded with mineral and petroleum
elastic bands with metal in them
large/heavy hair accessories
beauty salons
brushes
fine-toothed combs (unless it's a rattail comb for parting my hair)

Re: What DON\'T you do to your hair?

I'm still relaxed, but I have given up the following:

Sticking with ONE stylist for all services. I've learned that some are better at color, others better at dusting ends, etc.
I've given up handling hair unless necessary
I've given up relying on trusting every person with a hair license to be as gently with my thick hair, as I would, especially when wet.
I've stopped using grease (over 15 years ago).
Stopped thinking that I cannot handle my own hair.

Re: What DON\'T you do to your hair?

heat
salons
shampoos with sls and als
excessive brushing and combing

I have given up:
heat on my hair
tight ponytails

Re: What DON\'T you do to your hair?

What I don't do:

- Greasing my scalp. I used to do it to control itch but my scalp always itched more. I realized I needed to wash more often.
- Heat. I haven't used a curling iron or flat iron in almost a year. I tried to use it last week and I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
- Super/Extreme hold hair spray.
- Hair gel

What I'm working on:

- Keeping the stinkin scarf on my head all night.
