I was just sitting at my desk admiring the fotki of Jennifer MD. That girl's hair is the bomb and so many others on this forum. I have never ever ever in my life had APL hair but that is definitely my goal. My hair is just barely touching the shoulders now after a 2 inch unwanted cut in Dec. So I sit here at my desk and then touch my armpit and think my hair will never reach this length. It seems sooo far away. I'm tall, 5'7" and this just seems impossible. So I need some inspiration with pics and would like to see what ladies are now APL that has never been been before in their life. My hair is very healthy now and is growing but APL on me would floor me! If you had APL as a child you're disqualified from this thread. I need to hear from ladies just like me on this one. I think I'm going to put my hair on the prayer request list for APL!

Before this board my hair never grew past neck length and my sides never reached shoulder length.

Girl please, I never had Shoulder Length before LHCF. I just figured I wasn't born with "good hair" so it wasn't gonna happen. Thank god someone invented the internet!

Although I'm about 2-3 inches from APL now (transitioned to natural and had major trims). I was APL for the first time in my life after being on LHCF. So, from 06- mid 08 I was a consistent APL. I've never been longer than APL, so my goal is to be MBL (stretched) as a natural. It'll probably take me a looong time to get there, but it's my dream :)

ETA: My hair would always grow to SL or a little past without problem.

thanks reni. so is yours. lol, it takes patience, and a slightly compulsive personality:lachen::drunk::lachen:, but i think i just like seeing the numbers get bigger. i'm hoping to reach my 20 in. goal sometime next fall. you'll get back to apl before you know it, and it'll be even thicker because of the trim.

lol about the compulsive personality, i totally agree,i got the personality bit, but not enough patience. i'm hoping it still happens for me this year.

This is a great inspirational thread because my hair has never been past SL which I finally got back to SL again now I am trying to get to APL.

This is a very inspirational thread. My hair has never been past shoulder length. I am new to this hair journey. What are your secrets ladies??

I'm not there yet, I just cut my hair but a lot of the ladies stress protective styling if you are at SL because when your hair brushes your shoulders it can break off your ends. And make sure your moisture/protein balance is in check to minimize breakage.

*raises hand*. I think the longest my hair got in the past was SL. Seeing that so many people reach lengths they never have before is one of the reasons why I just don't believe that black women IRL can only grow hair to SL or shorter. Aside from those who deliberately cut to short lengths, I just think most don't have the right hair care practices in place.

I can now officaly come up in here and raise my hand! I have never been even close to APL as a child and I'm just about there as you can see in my siggy. I'm presently about 5 months post so once I get up the courage to use the BKT I purchased, I'll flat iron and should be over APL! I was skeptical that I would reach APL, but when I decided to leave my hair alone (K.I.S.S.) and stuck with a regimine, lo and behold I was there!

As an adult I've never had this length, in my siggy I'm allllllllllllmost there. I could be there now, I haven't checked and won't until the end of the year

Me! I have never, ever, ever, ever, had APL hair before :nono:

But now my tail is grazing APL and I'm speechless! Man I'm so proud, even though my hair is super fine, and I guess thin too, I see the pictures and still don't believe it.

Me! Me! Me!

I've NEVER had APL hair and now I'm a little bit past APL! I can't wait for my next touch up to see how much closer I am to BSL!

I've had SL hair my whole life. My hair was close to APL once..after I had my first child 3 years ago, but quickly broke off. But again my whole life stuck at SL. I joined the forum June 09, and by Dec. 09 had made my first goal of APL! I'm actually grazing BSB and like an inch from BSL. I'm so excited and so thankful to you ladies for showing me how to grow long, healthy hair! I seriously never used to think it was possible.

I look at this post....then your avi....and I am soooo happy for you, sis.

Hopefully I will be able to look back on my old posts someday and do the same.

To answer the OP, I've never been APL before, but I'm there now. It's a wonderful feeling!

I have always been barely-SL my whole life. When I thought I was taking the best care of my hair by relaxing every 6weeks, and getting trimmed (cut!!.:wallbash:.*sigh*..) every six weeks...I was sooo wrong!!

I have just been "promoted" to the APL-club, and I am so proud of myself! :bighug:
I did this all by myself, without the help of any hairdresser. I am on my way to BSL, and then who knows from there. The day I found LHCF was a happy day!!:drunk:

Well I can't say I never had it, I had MBL hair as a child before relaxing. Since being a relaxed head I've never been able to reach anything longer than SL. But I have finally reach APL and I plan to keep on growing.
