Re: What are your \"3 Key\" elements learned from LH
For those of you who listed daily conditioner washes as one of your keys, how has this aided in the success of your hair care? I've been skeptical to try it. I know that everything does not work for everyone, but I would be willing to try it from your feedback.
Re: What are your \"3 Key\" elements learned from LH
Dutchess when I first came to the board and discovered daily co washes I was highly skeptical. The first thing I though was if I was my hair too much it will become weak and fall out. "NOT" the case. It is the total opposite.
Benefits of daily washing:
Much less shedding, I am talking about 10 hairs a day!!
Little or no breakage.
Silky soft hair without having to use a lot of products. Faster hair growth.
Try it for a week and see if you like it. If you don't go back to your old routine. You are right daily co washing is not for everyone but it is perfect for me!
Re: What are your \"3 Key\" elements learned from LHCF
1. No direct heat(blowdryers and curling irons were frying my hair).
2. Never overlay previously relaxed hair(Mine was over processed).
3. Water(distilled for me) and frequent use of it was my hair's best friend... it would not dry my hair out and break it off).
Re: What are your \"3 Key\" elements learned from LHCF
1. Protein treatments followed by moisturizing conditioners
2. MSM (Helps so much in making new growth more manageable,
which helps to extend relaxers, which prevents over-
processing, which makes for stronger, longer hair,
woo hoo, lol
).
3. Protective Hairstyles (The proper way to do a bun has
saved my hair from the harsh winds and bitter cold of
Michigan weather).
I love this website
Re: What are your \"3 Key\" elements learned from LH
Starting Monday 12/8/03 I'm going to start conditioner washes for 7 days straight to see if conditioner washes are beneficial to me. I have relaxed, 3-c, 23 inches of hair. I'll have to find the posts on this to find out exactly how it's done. Thank you so much and thanks to all who responded. I gained a few more "Keys" from all of your posts. You guys are the best!

Let us know how it turns out. Good luck! I think your hair will enjoy the extra moisture!
Re: What are your \"3 Key\" elements learned from LH
I blowdry and flat iron my hair maybe 3 or 4 times per year. I used to blow dry and flat iron every two weeks. This has aided with the growth of my hair. I used to dry my hair out with the blow dryer and then burn my hair out with the curling iron
Re: What are your \"3 Key\" elements learned from LH
Here's my 3 which were hard to narrow down to:
1. Filing down then buffing plastic combs and hair accessories to prevent breakage from sharp edges.
2.Detangling my hair in shower while rinsing out the conditioner
3. Understanding of what my hair needs are and how to meet those needs in the realm of obtaining and maintaining moisture. A work which is still in progress.
Re: What are your \"3 Key\" elements learned from LH
There are so many it's hard to pick just three, but I'd have to say:
1. Biotin (and other vitamins
2. Vaseline Ends (and Protective STyles)
3. The AWESOME Shower Comb!!!
Re: What are your \"3 Key\" elements learned from LH
I just joined LHCF, but I found out a lot of information...Some are things that I heard before, but you ladies reaffirmed it, some I never knew...But so far, what I have implemented in my hair care regimen...
vitamins (daily multivitamin, protein shake & biotin)
decreased heat (it'll be hard to stop heat completely)
moisturizing (what are some good daily moisturizers, right now I am using Motions, but it tends to weigh my hair down)
Also, thanks L.Mo
...I was going to change a lot of things at once, but per your suggestion, I am going to start with 3 (ones mentioned above) first and see how my hair responds...
