Shoulder/Armpit Challenge- 2005

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

I sees Newbies....with shoulder length dreams....that want fame...

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

Count me in, I'm new here, but I still want to participate. Right now my natural hair is braided in human hair micro braids and it is about 6 inches long. I know I have a ways away to get to BSL, or armpit length, but I am going to hang in there.

I really am striving for the healthyest head of hair I've ever had. I'm getting there. :)

That's all that really matters Daisy'sHair..;) There are others who are striving for shoulder length...not just armpit.

Patience and care...we'll get there.:)

Hola Mona, Thanks for starting this thread. I have to admit I was feeling a lil left out when I first joined this site. It seemed like everyone already had long hair! Now I've got family! haha! I will take pics and will keep the crew updated. Adios!

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

Okay shoulder and armpit length goalees....we are heading into April 2005...how's everybody doing?

I'm hanging in there...I wanted to make it 16 weeks post...but it looks like I'll only do 14-15 weeks...not because of my hair...my hair is okay...it's the freeking Surged edges...I think I oversurged! lol...so the edges have pushed me sooner to touch up. I should have updated pics by the end of April to see if I see any difference from January '05.

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

doing well. I trimmed in Jan because of splits. I trimmed again in march due to splits and for growth( this trim was according to the moonphases and i have two more scheduled this year), i also colored on the same day that i trimmed in march. Currently i have been using Shapley's MTG for three weeks and i love it. On the nites that i don't use shapley's, i use either shealoe butter or organic hair butter. I think i will reach shoulder length in the rear by June 6th and that is my short term goal. I plan to get my hair cornrowed on Sunday. I 'll keep them in for 2 to 4 weeks, then it's back to my fro.

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

Ok so far thi ngs are alright...im only 8 weeks post relaxer and i have tons of new growth, but i am also getting breakage and tons of shedding....so I plan on holding out for 5 more weeks and then get a relaxer....this month i will cornrow my hair up and take it down next month. I havent measured my hair, so im not exactly sure how long it is...:) hope everyone is doing well!

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

Checking in to say things are great. Since I did the big chop, my hair is really coming into it's own, meaning it is softening up more and is becoming easier to make more styles.

However I am due for a trim in June which is 2 months away, so I have been really babying my ends and detangling with care.

And guess what I just discovered leave-ins, sad but true, and my hair absolutely loves it. Still standing at 6 inches, well I have not really checked but I will do so after my trim in June. I have been doing my before summer trim for years because I normally have a growth spurt during the summer months and I will be able to get an estimate of how much growth I acutally get.

How's everyone else doing? Shoulder Length here we come. :)

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

We have now hit May 2005! We are getting close to the halfway point come June for this year!

How's all the shouder/armpit goaled chicks doing out there? Jist checking.

I just got a touch up on April 22nd - I definitely see some progress...I know I have a ways to go to the year end comparison, but I see good things happening (I will post pics for April '05 soon).

Will keep up with my moisturizing. Will be stepping up on CW's and conditioning now that the warmer months are coming.

Remember, we will reach our goal come December 2005!:)

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

Hey Monalisa:D

I don't think I will be at shoulder length for 2005 but maybe in 2006:(:ohwell: :look:. I am trying to stretch my texturizer to 6 months instead of 2-3 months. I am only at 2 months and it's getting harder each week to handle my new growth. But thanks to World of curls I am better able to manage my new growth with ease. Hopefully at the end of the 6 months I will be able to at least wear my hair in a big puff but I am not giving up. I have come a long way. One day, one day I will get to shoulder length.

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

Well on the 13th i will be doing my first self-relaxer! Thinking of either using Mizani or Affirm....any suggestions? I definately am seeing some progress but also the breakage is getting out of hand so it is definately time for a relaxer....I also havent used heat for 3 months now!! and dont plan on using it till April next year!...so far my hair seems to be getting much thicker and back to the thickness i had when i was younger. I also just ordered a lacefront from DShy on here, and plan on rocking it this summer...while washing every 3 days and continuing my stinky challenge but adding MTG to it.....Hopefully ill be at armpit in the back and close to shoulders in the front come December.....Goodluck ladys!!
Happy hair growing!

Not anymore! Did the BC!!!

I hope to be at least shoulder length by October 2006!

Pray for me! ;)

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

I have been getting rid of 1 to 1/2 inches per month of damaged hair. I am transitioning slowly. I am pretty close to armpit, I hope to get there by the end of the year.

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

Poohbear-

Your hair looks awesome and so do you! I love it!

My hair update:

Well, I did cave in and use heat today, and my hair is getting longer. I'm now oiling my scalp with Frenchee's and the Glover's Medicated Dandruff treatment. I don't think I'll reach my goal of bra strap this year, but I think there's a possibility of reaching arm pit length. I'm just waiting to get enough money so I can put my sewn-in weave back in.

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

I am wondering if I am doing my hair more harm than good by eliminating heat from my regime. It seemed like when I was roller-setting and occassionally flat-ironing my roots with a ceramic iron, my hair was making faster progress. Now I am wearing plaits underneath a quick-weave and it seems like my hair is taking forever to grow. Are any of you pre-shoulder-length challengers experienceing this dilemna? Any advice?

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

Still here, still dreamin'! I had a bad episode with Phyto, but babied my hair (read: did daily co washes) for a few weeks, and had minimal breakage. I waited five weeks, and am now in box braids. Its a little challenging, as I had JUST gotten into a routine that worked well for me, and now its changed up.

I will say that the longest part of my hair - the small part that was already shoulder length - is like almost armpit length. But it really has to even up! so; praying for that. Also taking my vitamins, which is sure making my nails grow....hopefully will work as well on my hair!!!!!!

Long story short - it made my hair dry and didn't seem to "take"at all. I had a ton of new growth too - first time I had stretched my relaxer past 6 weeks to almost 12!!! It scared the crap outta me, thinking I might have to chop it off and lose my hard earned extra inch or so. :perplexed I have 4 a/b hair(with 3c mixed in at the nape which never grows) and I used index 2. I don't want bone straight hair, but this was a lil too natural for me :(

Hindsight - the Phyto didnt strip my hair like another relaxer might - it could be from the daily co washing, but while my hair initially felt dry , the condition of it was really good. The strands were not weakened - although it could be because it was not relaxed. I dunno - not everything is for everyone, but I was hoping that I would have similar results to the raves on this board.

I may try it again some day, like next year, when I again have my routine down pat. My goal is to bea as healthy as possible , even if I am relaxing (although PB is making me consider transitioning! :) )

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

*the tiny stab wounds at my heart...talking bout my Phyto...*

It's okay. lol.

Okay...checking in Mid May...

I actually had some progress from January. I have to take pics or I would think my head isn't doing anything.

It's gonna take patience and time challengers....patience and time...

oh, and conditioner.;)

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

Taking a bump moment for clarification....

this thread is if your goal is to reach shoulder or armpit length in the time frame of now (started in January 2005) to December 2005.

thanks! :)

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

Okay, I was looking at the thread title...hence my confusion. I guess this is home :-)

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

I'll ask the mod if I can change the thread title...lol.

Thank you ladies....:)

I will be inquiring for updates when we hit June 2005....*gasp* the halfway mark for the year...

I'm having a blonde moment :blondboob I think. How exactly do you measure
armpit length?
