Thanks Mo for thinking about us hair-challenged girls. I am trying to maintain shoulder-length for now, but hope to be at about 3 or more inches past shoulders sometime in 2005.

No problemo chica! LOL. When I first joined the board...my mind was swirling after viewing albums full of gorgeous, lengthy hair...and I kept seeing Bra Strap and Waist Length goals...but I was like...I ain't dere yet!!! WHAT ABOUT ME?!! lol. I knew I couldn't be the only one feeling like that...so...hence...the thread was born.

*Mo looks at KAddy the latecomer...but dat was MY fault...I didn't name this thread right. Sue me KAddy...lol*

Happy Hair Growing GiGi...we just gotta have patience and care and we'll reach our goals too!

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

I hope it's not too late to join. I'm hoping I can reach armpit by the end of this year (maybe sooner but I'm trying to not to be greedy)...

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

I'll join this too. I hope to be armpit length this year at some point. I would actually be content with Armpit length altogether :D , but ofcourse I'll always strive for more.

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

HIiiiiiiiiiii...Welcome aboard Kimberly and RabiaElaine (the helpful one;) )!!!!

Never to late to shoot for the armpit! I'm not alone in my goal and neither are you!!!

Everybody can't make it to BSL this year...we gotta start somewhere, ya know? LOL!

Again, Welcome aboard and Happy, Healthy Hair Growing!

We can do it!:D

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

Thank you so much for shouting this out.

I am a newbie to this board, and its awesome and overwhelming. The advice is fantastic( way better than some books that I have spent cash on) and the people seem cool. But dang! Flipping through some women's albums makes me feel like why bother? There are some fantastic heads of hair on this forum. My hair has been healthy, but hardly any kind of length like what I have been seeing on here. I am aiming for healhy shoulder length - I would be estatic if I could have it sitting on my shoulders when curled, all the way around. It seems impossible now, but you know what? I have to stick with it for awhile to justify all the $ I have spent on products and vitamins already!!!

my personal goal for the growout challenge is shoulders. Bra strap is such a pipe dream now.....God willing, maybe next year (or two!)

Welcome to the board bluwatersoul (catchy handle! makes me want to light a cigarette...)!! And welcome to feeling that spirit that you WILL reach your goal.

You're going to be kind to your hair...and it in turn...will repay you in kind.

I too felt somewhat awed when I found this wonderful community...imagine the first head you see being Adrienne0915 - but she was wonderful...and there are so many wonderful and encouraging ladies on this board that you can learn a LOT from - and you don't feel so overwhelmed or intimidated anymore. There are a lot of inspiring heads that started out where I was or you are now....and you see them a year or two later...and you know you can do it too! Patience and care. Patience and care!:D

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

Okay shoulder length, armpit chicks....we are about to leave the month of February and heading into March --

how's everybody doing?

Right now...I'm very pleased in terms of my relaxed hair...I can't believe that I'm two days away from being 8 weeks post relaxer and my hair is so manageable...I feel wholly confident I can hold off on touching up until 16 weeks, I haven't decided for sure yet if I'll go past that. I'd like a touch up for birthday time.

I did have a bad tangle incident...like I can't ever remember in my life two weeks back...but I got out of it with less loss of hair than it could've been (again, bless u NTM).

I have not really been combing my hair, going for as little manipulation as possible - just moisturizing and wearing my quick weave. I'm hoping that I have retained at least 3/4 to an inch by the end of April (I'm taking into account my trim in January).

Hey Mona,

I am about 7 weeks post relaxer with Phyto and I feel like I can go at least 3 more weeks (I usually relax every 8 weeks).

I am just trying to continue moisturizing and my monthly protein treatments. Check in with you Chica ;)

LOL . Trust me Mona, if I feel that I can push it to 12 weeks without more damage than good I will do it!!!

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

Great to see this post! I'm new here too and have never grown my hair out before, so I am SO excited. I've only been taking care of my hair well for the last couple of weeks (since finding Cathy's Howse's site and this site) and I am so amazed that I am already retaining growth. The longest part of my hair in the back touches my shoulder, in the front it is past my chin. So by August, I'm shooting for mid -shoulder blade and Underarm length by December 2005, BSL by December 2006!

I am at 6 weeks for my re-touch and usually I would need one bad, but it is very manageable. My next relaxer will be a Phytorelaxer, thanks to my research and this board.

Happy Growing in 2005.

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

I'm still on this challenge and since I'm getting married in July I want to have some nice flowing length.

Re: It\'s all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks

How come I am just now seeing this?

I am at the base of my neck/top of my shoulders right now. So my goal by my nappiversary (11/2005 2 years Natural!!) is 5 inches past my shoulders.

Count me in!!!

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

How did you let me go this long without seeing this thread Mona I thought we were better than this? Well since I am so late may I please have permission to join this thread??? PLEASE I am (well the last time I saw my hair I was at shoulder length at longest layer). I would love to be at armpit length by my birthday 12/19/2005.

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

Welcome aboard Beloved1!:) I have been where you are...when I found Cathy Howse's site in August of 2003, my hair was hovering around the nape of my neck -- my hair is now a bit past my shoulders (u can see my pics in my siggy).

My hair doesn't grow fast, so I'll be happy to reach armpit by the end of the year. I think I have a different perception of inches to armpit and brastrap then others...I know I'm not there yet. I hope that you like the Phytorelaxer, I love it, but some folks have used it and were none too happy and expounded upon their experience on the board - I would hate for you to fall into that category.
I don't promote it anymore, but I can honestly say it will be my relaxer for life.

Happy growing to you - and we'll be doing a check in each month until years end.

@nappyme - Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! :) I'm sure your hair will look lovely come the big day! Thanks for checking in!

@pookeylou - Yo no se chica...lol. Glad to have you aboard!!:D

@sweetpeadst - Hmmmmmm....lol...No permission needed to join chica! We're here to support each other to reach this goal. Lawdy, you're a Sag...the same birthday as my sister...you must be a handful...lol...I'm playin! Don't cut me! Welcome aboard girl!;)

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

Ok so I'm checking back in...I don't think I'll be armpit this year. I think my goal for this year will be to a few inches past shoulder. However much that is I will be be happy with it...considering the fact that my hair has never been past my shoulders.

I'm doing well though, and I just got a relaxer on sunday.

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

@SP - It's allllll love Sag! All love!

@Rabia - Girl...it's okay to go in baby steps towards getting to brastrap. I was happy just to get to shoulder myself...then I was like okay...I ain't nowhere near BSL...let me shoot for armpit.

I went from rocking Halle length for a number of years....and it grew some...then I lost it again...until I chilled on the relaxing, stopped the constant pulling back of the hair with gelled up ponytails that were drying out and breaking my hair...then in early 2003...things started to click in my mind...what not to do...what was working, who to keep away from my hair (I was getting weaves and I realized the chick was giving me BIG trims when I would get redone - I was perplexed as to why my hair wasn't getting any longer)...and it came together with patience and gaining knowledge. That and keeping it braided/weaved up and leaving my hair the h*ll alone! lol.

I'm still learning. You'll get there girl, just give it time and care.

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

I'm doing well- i ordered a phonypony- it's on back order- should receive it soon. My curls are getting a little looser. My ends and hair feel very soft and moisturized. I'm still doing the baggie method and moisturizing every nite. Trying to drink my water and taking vitamins- hoping for bob length all the way around by June 6th. I'll keep u guys posted.

Re: It's all about Waist length and BSL in 2005...What about the folks...

Hey y'all

I am hanging in there. Have turned into an official PJ in the weeks since I have been on the board, its a crying shame. BUT I have found NTM mask and daily conditioner, and these FANTASTIC products are helping me stretch my touch up to....drumroll......almost 10 weeks!!!!

(((the crowd roars)))) :p

LOL. Understand, I was like every 6 before. No weave or phonypony, just me pulled back in a bun. No length yet, but my hair is looking great! No heat whatsoever(except for deep conditioning). Taking a load of vitamins, and drinking carrot juice and TRYING to drink even more water......

still sticking to my shoulder length goal...the sooner the better....hope springs eternal...

Blu

the prize is the journey
