Hey Fabienn!!!! Nice to meet a fellow Creole girl on here. I love your hair texture! Very pretty!:yep:

Really! My cousins graduated from there too, class of 03 and 04. Yea, I know what you mean about back when it was a nice place to live..that was one of the reasons my mom moved us to broward.

Hey Nina!! I grew up in Broward!!! Hollywood to be exact! What a small LHCF!!!!! LOL!

Hey, I'm metroQt,
I found the LHCF 4 years ago, while researching Cathy Howse.

I had relaxed my hair on my own in university to save on money, and did it incorrectly, and my brastrap hair fell out in chunks. So i bigchopped in 2001.

Since then i've been natural, texturized, natural again and texlaxed. I'll soon be relaxed.. (lol the next month or so)

I'm originally from Ottawa canada, but moved to Toronto in 2002. I'm am actress and a personal trainer.

Hello ladies,

My name is Energist and I found LHCF about 2 years ago when looking for more solutions to doing my own hair since I had to learn to become self dependent. I relocated from NY to Oklahoma a little over 3 years ago, and although I do hair, I had gotten used to going to Dominican stylists (which are mainly located on the east coast). So this site has helped me a great deal to maintain my progress, and I've learned a lot as well :)

Hi! My name is GoingNatural/NaturalGoing/Curly Bear

I found LHCF when I was contemplating going natural and I was looking up scab hair on google.

I'm usually posting in this forum, OT, or ET.

I've lived in Panama, Germany and DC, and currently live in Northern VA.

I work for a nonprofit, college honor society.

I am a natural head, with 3b/c curls.

I was at BSL, but I recently got a trim (first time scissors have touched my hair since Nov 2006) so now I am about half an inch from BSL stretched.

My fotki is my siggy

Hello my name is Maria :drunk: born in the Dom. Republic and raised in Boston. Lurker for 1 yr, joined in July of this year
I'm 37 yrs old, married to my afro king Puerto Rican man LOL I have 3 kids, my husband has a bunch more so just call us the Brady Bunch
I have 1 grandchild that is my WORLD! I love that baby to pieces (2 months)
I have a BS in Mgmt and I am a project manager slash financial analyst for an accounting firm. Besides crunching numbers I love everything about hair! My obsession started at a young age when my mom would have an illegal salon in the house :lachen:and I would sit there ALL day and watch her do relaxers, perms, rollersets, blowouts, etc... a hair addicts dream come true! I had a relaxer in my hair for about 26 yrs till I decided to go natural in 2006. I did the BC in Sept of 07 after 10 months of transitioning and I'm currently APL. All my money goes to either my hair or a new Coach bag LOL

Congrats to everyone that just had a baby! Its so inspiring to see so many women of color with great jobs and degrees!

My name is Romey. I am 38, married with one child( and THAT IS IT!!). I was born and raised between Fort Myers, FL and Miami, FL. I went to school in both cities, one year here the other there, to appease both sides of my family.

I currently work in Radiology Management.

I came upon this site a little over a year ago(when my hair was APL) looking for a cute short style. I found it again, of course after I cut my hair, and became a member in late March 08. Becuase of my personality type(an introvert) I rarely post. I peruse both the hair and political forums.

I am currently at shoulder length, growing back from an asymetrical bob cut in December 07. I haven't cemented a regimen yet. However, I picked up something called pjism. My gosh is it addictive!!! I am going to join the Product Junkie Anonymous A.K.A. Don't buy anything for the month challege next month.

I enjoy reading the post and find the information herein extremely helpful. Thanks ladies for sharing your information. Hopefully, one day I'll be able to return the favor!!

Hello Ladies! My name is Cecily (cech2204) and I am a super newbie just starting out on my journey towards long hair. I am originally from St. Louis, MO but am currently relocating to Atlanta, GA after finishing up at UAB in Birmingham, AL. Right now I am relaxed just above shoulder length and am hoping to acheive my goal of BSL. I don't currently have a regimen or pics or anything, but am always looking for pointers. I truly appreciate all of the help provided by all of the ladies of the site. I gained so much knowledge even as a lurker! Now that i've joined Im hoping to find a mentor to help me get started so I can grow me some long healthy hair! LOL!

Hi, Im BIAU. I am a full time student. I have no children. I am not married. Im no gonna tell where I live or where my fotki is. Tee hee hee

Hair is one of my obsessions. I found this site a LONG time ago. Since then Ive transitioned to natural and I am on my way to Elbow length. I am 3b/c and 4a and full BSL when stretched. I have about 1 more year left to my next goal. I only need 4 inches BUT I want it to be full and blunt so Im estimating another 2 inches in trims.

Good luck on starting your dentistry practice! I have had some bad hair experiences, to the point of tears too...so I know what you mean.
Thanks for the congrats on my new baby boy. He keeps me smiling.

Hi! Im Zabrina
I reside in Toronto Ontario and im 18.
This wasn't my account it was my older sisters and she benefited from this
website quite alot (she's at APL right now). I was a bit skeptical and just like the rest of the family thought she was just hair obbessed! So she introduced me to the site and she told me I could have the account since she's now in Somalia doing volunteer work. She was more a lurker i'd say.

Hmm I consider myself a newbie and dont have a solid regimen yet. Im still figuring out what works for my hair and thats just about it. :ohwell:'. Anyways I was just excited so I thought Id introduce myself.

Love the name Zabrina! Welcome and happy hair growing!

Hello, 'name is Jo'Nita, 'been a lurker here forever. 'just decided to join this year as I was dying to input on some interesting threads and paypal finally worked so...

I am known on most boards as pearce1974, most infamously for shaving my head smooth bald and growing out as a natural for 2.5 years before relaxing. [www.fotki.com/pearce1974] I have been both natural and relaxed back and forth, for a while. I am currently accepting my texlaxed hair [who knew it had a name!! I called it a, 'my perm won't take' :) ] I love this site and now instead of hating my hair and the fact I can't get it bone strait and getting frustrated lopping it off and creating a silly cycle, I just chalk it up as an original head of hair. I will just let it do whatever, I am currently just conditioner washing, I am 12 weeks post relaxer and the next time I want it straight I will probably just flat iron or hot comb.

I have two cats and a male mate of 8 years this august 24th, I am totally obsessed with hair and really love seeing all the ladies on here with incredible heads of hair. Happy growing. and check out my ridiculous fotki sites with over 5 years of hair angst in photo form.

what a great thread!

hi everyone!!! i'm poookie, a.k.a. amanda. won't put too much identifying info, because this thread is viewable to lurkers...

but i'm a 21 year old senior at an HU, studying computers.

i'm an aquarius, meaning i can be kind of quirky, so if you see me post something silly, blame it on my birthday, and not my heart

i love video games, tv, electronics, driving fast, and working on growing me some long hair!!

currently i'm past shoulder length, working hard so i can achieve full-on APL by this October (my 1 year LHCF anniversary)!

My Hair--oh buddy...I need a mentor. Any takers? This is my 2nd natural attempt first time was great. Then I went and relaxed it got super JACKED broke off seriously and I said that's it. That was a sign I need to stay natural. I'm trying a lot of stuff. I spend more time on my DD's hair than my own.

* I am a 35 year old female truck driver,

What a cool job!!!

I am Coffee, born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona where I still live. Married 9 years to my best friend, lover and wonderful husband (a Pastor) whose promise to spoil me rotten if I married him came true. I just turned 58, never had a problem telling my age. I had one child (a son) who passed away at age 25, but I do know I will be with him again one day. I am retired and spend most of my free time in my greenhouse "playing" with my plants. I have an online website and also sell on ebay, it's enough to keep me buying hair stuff and paying for cruises. My hair was short short when I joined last year and now it's longer than it has ever been:lachen:, thanks to this website. I am the type of person people would love to have as a best friend!!

I'm Jamila75.

I was born and raised in Chicago.

I've lived in Florida for 16 years. I came for college, graduated, got married, had a baby and never left. :perplexed

I'm back in school for my MBA after 10 years of having no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up. :lachen: So happy that I have found my dream career and that motivation keeps me going.

I used to be almost MBL. I chopped my hair down to above SL after a mid-life crisis (I turned 30). :look: I'm trying to get back to MBL. I think WL would be too much work for me.

My hair loves right now are co-washing and weekly wet setting. I am stretching and co-washing has made it a breeze.

I love this board. I just took a one week "fast" and it was hard to stay away. I'm back now, but I'm trying to limit my time so I don't get so addicted again. :lachen:

Is 30 midlife? Please don't tell me that! You look barely 21.

Hello Beautiful ladies,
My name is Debbie aka sevetlana

I live in Jamaica, summer all the time..
When I was a baby I ate benzol (sp) peroxide and all my hair fell out. So I never really had hair on my head till the jerri curl in high school. I am relaxed now.

This hair journey is fascinating. Never new I (dry head gal) could grow hair long.

A friend of mine introduced me to this site paid for my first year and everything.

It is nice to meet all of you.:cheers: cheers.

Wow. Glad to see ya have hair on your head now.
Reminder: must child-proof my house.

Thanks Lady Esquire! I appreciate that cause I hated :wallbash: my name growing up. I am Haitian- American. SAK PASE!!!!!! LOL!

N'ap Boule!!

My birthday was Friday.

I am working on a story too!
I started a thread in the Books and Reading Forum on Writers, but no one replied:look:
Maybe I should have gone to the OT?
Good luck with your story. You'll probably get more replies if you post your thread in the OT.

:grin:What a great thread!!

I'm Candycane and I've been on the forums for about 3 years now..I go in and out of lurkdom (is that word lol?) but I'm always reachable. Anyways, I'm an undergrad student in Saint Louis, MO and about to apply to grad schools for psychology this fall. I came on the forums because my hair was really damaged and I had lost hope with salons. This forum encouraged me to go natural and I've been natural since December 2005.. My goal was APL but now I'm changing it to BSL.

I didn't realize there were so many ladies from St. Louis! I also think its interesting that everyone from St. Louis ends up leaving lol. (I'll be included in that group within the next year)

My name is 2inspireU. I stumbled across this site by accident. I actually thought this site was for relaxed heads only. However, I lurked out of curiosity anyway. I'm glad I did because I have learned so much, and my previously STUCK AT SL natural hair has now reach APL :) I'm planning to texturize my hair soon.

I'm 22 years old
born and raised on the west side of Chicago
Single
no kids
graduated from UIUC May 2008 w/BA in History w/distinction
I was pre-law but discovered it was not for me my Junior year :( , so I am a career changer
I'm now at Dominican Univ. Post-bacc pre-med program(taking pre-reqs for med school admission)
Afterwards I plan on applying to med school
I want to become an Orthopedic Surgeon
Currently hauling ass at O'Hare UPS for their tuition assistance program
Yet, despite my hard work, the Department of Education and Sallie Mae will own me forever...

***Any doctors or people in the medical or science field I would appreciate your mentoring.

I'm doll-baby:drunk:
I'm from the south side of Chicago.
I have an 8 year old son and a 2 year old daughter.
I am still trying to find my ideal career. I have a B.A. in Sociology and currently I am stuck in retail hell (but at least I am employed). Right now I am at a cross roads in choosing between going back to become a teacher or a nurse. But I do know that I'm definitely going back to school.
I came to this board because I wanted to grow long healthy strong hair and be educated by my peers on the best way to acheive it. My ultimate hair goal is BSL but if it grows longer that would be great!:yep:
