Let's Get To Know One Another

we relocated to arizona in 2006 because of my severe depression from having stayed in michigan for so long (5 years, to be exact).
because my husband is from there, i'm sure i hurt his feelings terribly so by saying every day how much i HATED being there. he finally found a warmer place and moved us and i am so much happier.

anyhoo, some tidbits about moi:

i am Ericka and my arizona and new mexico ladies met me on our meetup.
originally from chicago, moved to michigan and am now in the valley of the sun.
i started here because i allowed someone to cut me bald because of my dismay with keeping up my hair. after months of falls and wigs, my hair became in the best shape it had ever been and now i am ap length.

i'm extremely grateful to lhcf and am even more grateful that i can some back at any time for assistance and inspiration.

we have four daughters - two sets - 17 and 16 and 4 and 6.
i am an avid lover of very old movies - especially silent ones, cartoons - especially anime and manga, and old-time radio programs from the 40's thru the 60's.

but my true love is philosophy - aesthetics is a passion of mine.

eating meat makes me ill when i think about where it comes from. but, because i associate with so many people from all over the world, i must consume what is appropriate at the time.

i would rather live in a mobile or small manufactured home with very fine and sentimental detailings from all over the world rather than a huge house or mc mansion in which i only utilize 1 or 2 rooms.

my main goal in life is to minimize my carbon footprint to a miniscule fraction of what it is today and to bridge the gap of the world's inhabitants through music.

I also suffer from Chronic, Severe Depression. I know it stems from different things but I never thought of being in Pod Country as also part of the reason. I'm trying desperately to get up enough money to move back home but it's not going so good.

Hello Ladies!

My name is Geneva or Evalina and I been a member since 12/31/07 and still I see very little progress!! Damn Shame anyway i was born and raised in Brooklyn NY but I have family from NC. I am 34 years old and I have one son that get on my last damn nerve. I do not like teenagers(13):nono:!!!
I am trying hard to have healthy long hair but it's hard!!!! I am hoping Mega Tek will be the answer but it's been two weeks and three days and I dont see any thing worth reporting!!!

My name is Anew. I chose that name because I wanted to start over fresh with taking care of my hair.

I have 2 kids, my daughter will be 9 on the 4th, and I have a 2.5 year old son (he's like 3 kids in one). I'll be 28 on the 8th and I guess I'm happy about that. Graduated from FAMU in 2005 with my bachelor's degree, still living in Tally but I am really working on that. I'm a type 4a/relaxed/shoulder length and my goal is MBL but I'll take BS really, long as its healthy I don't know if I'm gonna care, maybe I will, lol.

I don't post often, I mainly come here for inspiration. Have yet to get a fotki but I take pics faithfully, that is why my time/date stamp are on my pics so when I do get one I can be accurate.

beautimous goddess braids!

I know I'm all late with this but here it goes....

Hi! I'm 26, live in MD but born and raised in Philly. Currently working full time and pursuing an MBA. No kids yet and I live with the BF (I'll let you know when we get engaged ).

As far as my hair goes, I've always had pretty thick hair but it never was as long as I wanted. I had a relaxer up until I was 19 and I did a BC and dyed it reddish brown - so cute! Since then I've been wearing it natural and started pressing it around 2003. Had a bad dye job in 2005 :nono: and had to spend all of 2006 to recover. Now, I'm just aiming for healthy hair that I can keep looking good!

trust me when i say that every bit of what was ever wrong with me stemmed from living there. i was from chicago, so going to michigan was the death of me - not outdoor activities, driving everywhere, gloomy, depressing, under-privileged appearance...i spent more days in bon secours and crittedon hospitals due to illnesses than i did in my home (seriously).
i swear to you that my husband saved my life when he moved us here. the depression you are suffering from is real, sis, and please find anything...ANYTHING to save your sanity.

you know what gave me a bit of sanity? going to the apple and pumpkins farms in rochester hills. i know it sounds crazy, but it's true.

even though there is ample nature in michigan, most of it is privately owned. that prevents us from being able to get "away".

stay strong and pm me if ever you need a sympathetic ear.

My name is Carmen. I'm 31 y/o. I'm originally from Camden, NJ. My family roots are in the DC area aka DMV and I recently moved to Atlanta from DC about a year ago. I'm a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. I went to high school and college and did the best partying of my life in DC and now I'm in the south. It's weird being from the DC area and moving to Atlanta, take my word from it. It's DIFFERENT for sure.

I miss being able to drive up to Philly so that I can get my cheesesteak fix. Being in Atlanta is like being stuck because you can't drive to Philly, NJ, NY when you want too! That's the worst!

I'm the oldest of five... don't ask ages because I can't keep up anymore. I have been doing PR for about nine years and started my own firm last year. It's working out so far - I don't need to go back on the plantation yet LOL!

I'm trying to decide if I like my new life while taking care of my hair! OH one of my best friends from high school KathyMay is also on this board!

Hello, I'm MrsBurns82. I picked that name because I have a mean set of sideburns. I'm from NJ born and raised. I'm 26 I live between home and my bf house. I have 4 pitbulls that I'm completely obessed with. No children although the wedding and baby talk seems to be coming up more often. I'm finally getting a bit of a grasp on a regimen. I haven't been keeping much track of a specific length of my hair. I'm in between deciding to go natural or stay relaxed. I'm taking it one day at a time my last relaxer was in May. I've had a few set backs with a couple of texlaxings gone bad so I'm absoluty done with that. Other than that I'm just trying to get full healthy hair and enjoying all you ladies company along the way.

This thread has been calling me for a minute - I'll have to come back to catch up and 'meet' all of you ladies.

Hi! I'm JustKiya (See ya Kiya, not Hi ya, Kiya ;) ) and I'm 31.

I've been married for almost 5 years, no kids (yet), living in the Belt Buckle of the Bible Belt, Memphis Tn. I grew up a little bit of erry'where, but Mama is in Philly, and that's where I graduated from high school, so that's where I'm 'from'. Graduated from Spelman College (dcprdiva - is GutBusters still open in WestEnd??? That's a GOOD cheesesteak substitute!) in 2000, lived in Indiana until the cold started to drive me insane, and then moved to Memphis.

I work in IT (which is why I'm online allllll the time ) for the last 9 years, but my calling is to be a midwife and a mother - both low paying jobs, but I'm manifesting prosperity on all levels of my life.

I'm a unabashed hippie - pagan, natural living, no-shoe wearing, independent thinking, intensely curious, stubborn, and deeply passionate about learning. I'm a voracious reader, and constant multi-tasker, but I find that tv/videos have to work HARD to hold my attention. I'm a bit of a lush, but know how to handle my liquor.

Hair wise, I'm a 4b (I think - I really don't care...) shoulder length stretched, and I've been on this hair journey for 27 months. It started when I took my five year old locs down, and decided nappy or not, hair GROWS, and I just didn't have the knowledge needed to assist it along the way.

Urm, so yeah. That's me. :)

Hi Ladies,

This is a fun read.

I'm oooop2 (yes, I'm a Delta and the 2 represents my line #)..LOL
I'm 33, married for 11 yrs this Sept, and have 2 girls ages 5 and 3.
Originally from St.Croix, USVI. My parents are from Antigua, WI. Grew up in the Houston area. Went to college in Oklahoma.
Resided in Cincinnati, OH before moving to Kobe, Japan on my husbands expat assignment.
I'm a critical care RN, but placed my licenses on inactive status in order to relocate.
I love to travel and have seen a lot of Asia since moving to Japan almost 3yrs ago.

Regarding hair:
I've been natural since Feb 9, 1998. Wore a boycut for 8 straight years. Moved to Japan (away from my barber) and decided to grow my hair out.

I have loving my texture and my new found length. However, my BC is more me, so I am almost positive that I will be cutting my hair once I move back to the USA.

That's me...
