Let's Get To Know One Another

hello my beautiful sistahs!

it's been ages since i've posted here. i discovered my first hair board on Yahoo in 2000. i joined LHCF when it first started back in 2002, i believe.

i'm 45... geez... divorced with a 12-year old son, fitzgerald. i live in los angeles and am a financial analyst at Mattel. i keep track of all the money that's spent to make Barbie, Polly Pocket and all their other girl toys. :spinning:

i am a reformed PJ, which means i have about 3000 products but only use about six. lol! my latest "discovery" is the kinky-curly curling custard. i LOVE that stuff!! when i first joined the hair boards, my hair was about 2-3" all over. i've been threatening to get to waist length for years now. so i've all but given up on that happening. so i'm just trying to maintain when i have at this point.

i wish everyone lots of luck in reaching their goals. my mission now is to look like candycane004 in my freakum dress when i grow up! :yep:

Hi all! I'm from dayton,Oh and I'm a 4th year nursing student. I don't have any kids yet but I am engaged. Ive been a paid member for about 6 months. When I first joined I was transitioning and decided to texlax but i'm transitioning again. This site has helped me to totally change the health and thickness of my hair! Now I'm just waiting on length.:yep: I just recently added a photo album in my profile if you guys want to check out my progress.

I'm Poohbear. I've been a member here at LHCF for over 4 years. I started off with relaxed hair and went natural in 2005. My natural hair is very tightly coiled and densely compacted with 80%-90% shrinkage! I do all types of things with my hair, I've never been consistent. I'm from KY and I'm single with no children. I have an accounting degree and MBA degree, and I'm currently unemployed (I don't know what I want to do with my life, I'm very confused right now). Anyways, back to hair.... 2 months ago, I got my natural hair cut to shoulder length. I'm working on growing it back out to APL and hope I can eventually reached brastrap length by the end of 2009.

I'm sweetpuff, 29.
I live near montreal, Canada.
I have a boyfriend of 5 years , no children.
I am a teacher in high school. Just got my diploma last april and I am starting in a new school tomorrow.

Lhcf and me:
I joined in 2006. I was natural then texturized with Scurl, then relaxed progressively.
I had about 2 set backs I think during that time. I am getting closer to my first goal of healthy APL and everyday I am breaking my own record when it comes to health and length.
Well, ideas of transitionning go through my mind. I think I'll just stretch right now (I'm about 10 weeks post) and get a dominican blowout or a half wig if I get tempted.
stretching record: 15 weeks and 6 days :yep:

Hi all, I'm silentdove.
I am 29, born, raised and live in NYC. (Brooklyn and Manhattan)
I have no children yet.
I am still with my boyfriend of 8 years, engaged for the last two.
I am currently unemployed, due to a change in gov't (that's politics).

I stumbled on LHCF when my boo asked me to texturize his hair. He likes it straight, not curly and since I could not get a hold of the two hairdressers who have done his hair in the past, I did a google search on what was the difference between a relaxer and a texturizer. It helped me to do his hair that night before he went on a one month vacation overseas. While he was away, I became addicted. For the first time I can actually visualize having long healthy hair like I did when I was a kid and my mom took care of my hair. I am so happy to be a part of this forum. I'll post pics once I figure how.

Good luck on trhe hair growing, kids, school, work and relationships to all.

Hey it's Hurricane here I live in the Galveston County area been a RN for 12 years. I'm doing the ayuverda method right now. I have always been interested in using products that are good for us and our bodies. Using Candy C's method.

FYI: the City of Galveston and it's citizens complained every year about the Kappa Beach party. It is now no more. The Kappa's had to disassociate themselves from the events. The residents complained about the african-american element. Loud music, people not buying from the stores, litter, traffic jams ( to make this short we are just un-civilized ).:wallbash: This is the same place that holds Mardi Gras, Biker rally's, and a gay-Lesbian parade..

Hi All - I'm 28, married and have 2 little boys, ages 3 and (will be) 2 in 2 weeks. I have been in or around Durham, NC all my life. I lurked on LHCF strong for 3 months and just recenty subscribed and started posting. I've been natural for almost 8 years, but just really started focusing on my hair care. Best to all and HHG!

Hi I'm PraiseDancer, 24, from Brooklyn,NY, now living in Ridgewood. I'm a mother of 3 lovely children. A 5 yr. old boy, 2 yr. old girl, and a 1 yr old boy. Today was my first day of cosmetology school. Before LHCF I had severe breakage and damage, since joining my hair has been reaping the benefits of you guys advice and my commitment to taking care of my hair. I've also become a PJ (help me Lord!).

:hiya2:

My name is araceli. I'm 34 yrs old. I've been a paid member since 2006 but never really stuck around or posted or got involved. Anyway, I've decided to get serious about my hair care and maybe one day I'll have the long hair I've always wanted.

I love, love, love this site. Don't remember how I found it but I'm SO glad I did. I have learned so much. A little about me, I'm originally from NY (born in Brooklyn) but I live in Michigan and I hate it, hate it, hate it but I digress. I am a proud Latina though you'd never know I was Latina with my African name which means Love (my mother got caught up in the naming-your-child-African-names-in-the-70s). I'm single with no kids. My only "kid" is my 11 yr old Shih Tzu mix named Marisa.

I can usually be found in the hair forum, homemade recipes and off topic. As for pics, my plan is to take pictures now and then in 6 months take more pictures and post before and afters.

Right now I'm trying to switch over to natural hair products and that includes no more relaxers. I haven't actually made a conscious decision to go natural but I realize that will be a by product of this course. I'm just tired of putting chemicals in my hair. I'm in love with cowashing and trying different recipes in the kitchen. I've put together a "hair book" filled with recipes, hair tips, hair care advice, great hair care ingredients, etc, etc.

Sorry this is so long. I just thought this was a great thread. Kudos to whoever started it (sorry, don't remember her name). I just get so excited over this site and all the ladies here.

I am a new member to LHCF. I am married with one child. We live in B-More, but I am a Choc City girl to my heart. I work for the government for now, that will change soon. I am soooooo glad I found this site. My daughter is 5 and her picture is my avatar. I had my daughter at 43 and am probably much older than a lot of the members. I was looking for a site for black children's hair and found this site. I have learned so much about hair in 2 months it is amazing. I have used some of the products mentioned and have seen a tremendous improvement in my daughter's hair in a month. I plan on keeping my daughter's hair natural and healthly, the key word being 'healthy' I have locs so I don't manipulate my hair much. I have been natural for 10 years and will never put another chemical in my hair if I can help it. And I have used some of the oils and conditioners mentioned on this site on my hair as well. Thank you ladies for the wealth of information and knowledge. Keep us the good work and stay positive.

Hi All:

I'm 35 and married w/no kids...originally from the Chi (Chicago), moved to Macon, GA after graduating from college....then moved to Atlanta....got married and moved to Northern Virginia.

I lurked on this site for well over a year prior to joining. My sis in law actually introduced me to the site after i told her about how the back of my hair broke off....or shall i say fell out and I was going to the salon EVERY WEEK:wallbash:
I do have a fotki but i am not technology inclined so I don't report and update it like I should (need to get better at doing that). I've learned SO MUCH from the sistas on this site. Words cannot express my appreciation.

My name is Anew. I chose that name because I wanted to start over fresh with taking care of my hair.

I have 2 kids, my daughter will be 9 on the 4th, and I have a 2.5 year old son (he's like 3 kids in one). I'll be 28 on the 8th and I guess I'm happy about that. Graduated from FAMU in 2005 with my bachelor's degree, still living in Tally but I am really working on that. I'm a type 4a/relaxed/shoulder length and my goal is MBL but I'll take BS really, long as its healthy I don't know if I'm gonna care, maybe I will, lol.

I don't post often, I mainly come here for inspiration. Have yet to get a fotki but I take pics faithfully, that is why my time/date stamp are on my pics so when I do get one I can be accurate.

Hi:hiya:, I'm Ladyz,
I don't post that much anymore, I have finally have realized that there is no "magic button" to fix unhealthy hair, only time can do that, and that is what I giving my hair.... I have learned so much good advice here and now I am giving it a time to work... My hair care journey has been one bumpy road after another :pullhair: :pullhair:, and I am sure it will continue to be one... but one day I know it will be better....Anywho

I live in Ohio, I am older than dirt:lachen:, I have two sons, and 7 grandchildren... I work full time and in my spare time I love to exercise and surf the internet...

I just want to "thank" all the ladies on this forum who has helped me over the past 4 years ( I think I joined in 2004 )

Thanks
:strong: :fan:

You said it, sister. I'm only here because of family but then I got sucked in. I call it Pod Country (or Podunk, USA or Sticksville, USA. They all fit).
we relocated to arizona in 2006 because of my severe depression from having stayed in michigan for so long (5 years, to be exact).
because my husband is from there, i'm sure i hurt his feelings terribly so by saying every day how much i HATED being there. he finally found a warmer place and moved us and i am so much happier.

anyhoo, some tidbits about moi:

i am Ericka and my arizona and new mexico ladies met me on our meetup.
originally from chicago, moved to michigan and am now in the valley of the sun.
i started here because i allowed someone to cut me bald because of my dismay with keeping up my hair. after months of falls and wigs, my hair became in the best shape it had ever been and now i am ap length.

i'm extremely grateful to lhcf and am even more grateful that i can some back at any time for assistance and inspiration.

we have four daughters - two sets - 17 and 16 and 4 and 6.
i am an avid lover of very old movies - especially silent ones, cartoons - especially anime and manga, and old-time radio programs from the 40's thru the 60's.

but my true love is philosophy - aesthetics is a passion of mine.

eating meat makes me ill when i think about where it comes from. but, because i associate with so many people from all over the world, i must consume what is appropriate at the time.

i would rather live in a mobile or small manufactured home with very fine and sentimental detailings from all over the world rather than a huge house or mc mansion in which i only utilize 1 or 2 rooms.

my main goal in life is to minimize my carbon footprint to a miniscule fraction of what it is today and to bridge the gap of the world's inhabitants through music.
