Let's Get To Know One Another

I didn't realize there were so many ladies from St. Louis! I also think its interesting that everyone from St. Louis ends up leaving lol. (I'll be included in that group within the next year)

Hey Candycane, St. Louis is my hometown as well. I've moved away a couple times, currently living in California. I wonder why so many of us have moved away :scratchch. Btw, I love your siggy pic.

Hi all,

My name is Suzie and I am married with 2 kids (a boy and girl). I currently live in NY but originally from Jamaica. I have a B.S in legal studies but am currently pursuing a bachelors in nursing (switching careers).

I like shopping on the internet, self help and coming up with ways to make more money (lots of failed home businesses). I am also into holistic health and raw foods and am a bootleg herbalist on the side.

I take pictures of my hair but my husband just hasn't gotten around to putting them on the computer. I guess I'll have to be more self reliant. I am natural now and it is a struggle to find the right products to have the perfect hair:rolleyes: I will carry on though!!! I grateful for this forum which I found through someone's fotki for helping me tremendously:tantrum:

Hi EVERYONE

MissBCurly/Simokon...

Found LHCF on accident when I first decided to go natural
From-Cali..Lived in japan,,NC,SC,DC,FL,MD currently Northern VA

Im a natural, CBL I BC'd on 4-8-08 and like to KISS

Hi! My name is GoingNatural/NaturalGoing/Curly Bear

I found LHCF when I was contemplating going natural and I was looking up scab hair on google.

I'm usually posting in this forum, OT, or ET.

I've lived in Panama, Germany and DC, and currently live in Northern VA.

I work for a nonprofit, college honor society.

I am a natural head, with 3b/c curls.

I was at BSL, but I recently got a trim (first time scissors have touched my hair since Nov 2006) so now I am about half an inch from BSL stretched.

My fotki is my siggy

I just saw a pic in ur fotki and u must live close cuz I recognize kurt shep! :lachen: newho HELLO!

Hello Hello Hello everyone!!! :drunk: My name is Kieva im 20. I've been a member for almost 4 months. I BC on 4/4/08 after transitioning for almost 6 months. I want to be SL by the end of the yr and APL on my 1st Nappiversary..yepppp I've got high hopes. I love lhcf!!!
:spinning: dont we!!! hehehe

Hello,

My name is Karista.
My forum name is kawista because that has always been my nick name for forever.
I am from Houston, but I currently live in New Orleans.
I am single/dating...:spinning:...still working on it! No children.
I am in undergrad at Dillard University majoring in Psychology...
I have been here for some months and I really am serious about growing my thin hair out!!!! I know my hair grows, but I know alot about relaxer stretching, but that usually came with a lotta breakage on perm day, because my hair would have matted up into a major dread locke...I was BAD:wallbash:, but I am learning and I have had some major success while on this forum and I am looking forward to more.

I have just starting a year of no heat and my hair is already feeling great!
Big ups to LHCF!! :)

what else? I don't know...i will just stop here.

Fun thread OP! I'm misspriss. Texas girl born and raised, now living in LaLa land. Hard to believe I've been a member over 4 years now! Found LHCF in college when I was inadvertently "stretching" my relaxer.

I grew my hair to brastrap, chopped it to ear length and went natural. Was natural for about 3 years, texturized with Affirm, and now I'm trying Phyto for the first time this weekend. I've colored, bleached, and heat styled my hair to death over the past year. Now my plan is to put my hair health first and try Ayurveda.

Nice to meet everyone :)

********WAVES at EVERYBODY********
There are so many interesting people on this board.
Shout-out to all the mamas and the ladies in school doing they thang!

Thanks I'll be sure to check it out:yep:
I'm not sure about the hair type thing either, but I'm willing to go through trial and errror finding out what works for my hair. I have to reeducate myself. I got to the point where I'm no longer even bothering to wear a satin bonnet on my head.:look::perplexed:lachen:

I feel you.
A time or two I just went to sleep with my hair out.
I knew better...but I'm stubborn.
'I do what I want'.

Next morning...:ohwell:
Woke up with my hair all 'cross my dern head!
Never again.

Hello Everyone!

My hame is Puffy.
I started LCHF in 07 and when I found this site I didn't think twice to join. Did not even take time to be a lurker. I knew this was going to be good.
My hair was jacked up, I wore braids for 10 years, maybe longer, it was uneven, dry and brittle, and my ends were raggedy. When it started to grow I had to keep cutting off the growth to get the ends, hince just now thriving and getting to be a full APL.

Career wise:
I work and go to school full time. Working on MBA Technology Management, I have a couple of degrees but that is not important.
I hate my tech support job and the only reason I stay is 1. the pay is good, 2. the benefits are good, 3. I have to finish my Masters degree to get the job that I want. I graduate October 09 and I can freaking wait...my job SUCKS!

Personal:
I am in that 40 something group, looking like Im in the 20 something group...heyyy....
Former Marine
Happily Divorced
Getting paid, want more money
Need a Sugar Daddy...can't find one because I moved to this hell..hole to help out my mom and these country a$$ folk down here bout' to get on my last nerve:lachen:
Anyhoo, enough of that. Moving movin on....as long as I pick up my paycheck every 2, I'm straight.
Im laid back and easy going and like to be around people who are positive and trying to make a better life for themselves...I cannot STAND negativity, or gossip, or any of that dramatic bullshyt because everybody has flaws.
My philosophy: if you cannot say something respectful, intellegent or something that would help somebody else, KYDMS(Keep Your Damn Mouth Shut)....No bunk...You cool.

One thing that I like about this forum is that I really like how everybody gets along. It is very easy to feel like a lonesome dove in here so I can def. see why someone may be intimidated. I post all the time and people just wiz my my post...:drunk:. Nothing big...you know what they say about too many sisters in one kitchen (not that kitchen..lol).

And yes, damit I talk alot..:blondboob

Great Thread!

Smooches

That's funny as hell!
I can't talk about no country ppl---they all up and through my family. These dern 'bamas make my nerves bad!
You talk a lot? Thank God....I ain't the only one.
I regularly type novels.
I can't help it.
I'm just so dayum thorough!

Ok I'ma chime in first before the post gets absolutely TOO long for me to read through. Then I'ma go back and see who I have some things in common with.

My (nick)name is Channie IRL. How you pronounce it depends on who you are. My father says Shawn-ee while my mother says Shan-ee. Eh...

I'm 23, umm I guess I'm engaged (LONG, but not so long story). No kids. I'm a super-senior/freshman simultaneously (Yeah, can't keep a major for nothing :perplexed) I was born in TX, raised in MI. I hate it here as well, looking to relocate to any thriving city. Job sucks (you know anybody hiring with good pay ANYWHERE, let me know!) I have one lil sister who beat me to the baby thing (though I always knew I'd be an aunt before I'd be a mother). I'm slowly trying to convert her to the LHCF way of life :assimilat as she is balding because of her antics.

Oh yeah, my hair...
My hair...

I came to LHCF in October 07 (Paid my $ in February) because I'd ignored my hair after a honey blonde dye so of course *break break, snap snap*. I BC'd way before I heard of this place and couldn't cut it natural cause I didn't have the knowledge. So relaxer it was, then color, then breakage. I thought I wanted to continue relaxed, but I'm tired of touch ups. So, I'm transitioning. I don't wanna BC again but I can hear my strands snapping where the color starts. *sigh* :crying3:

I just had my relaxed reggie all figured out, now I'm on the search again.
I'm looking for a mentor & a buddy too. Somebody natural or transitioning with type 4 hair please & Thank u!

Oh yeah, I'm a Libra, now does all this indecisiveness make sense?

Hi! :hiya2:

I'm Traci...My friends all call me Trai (pronounced trey lol)...I lurked for like two months (may and june 2008), because I needed major help with my hair...I joined july 4th...

I'm relaxed, neck length (and growing)...I'm also transitioning...My best friends all see the natural, fly, afro-curly haired chick in me....I decided to bring her out lol...

I'm 26...no kids, never been married...I'm sorta single...I mean I'm dating a guy...but who knows where it's going...I'm from Houston (which I love and miss), but I now live in Louisiana...(I've been here since Nov 2007)

Any transitioners care to mentor me?

Hey Channie :hiya2: I see another Michigander hating this dirty mitten...anyhoo, one thing that helped me come out of blonde hair w/o a lot of breakage was when I started getting cellophanes/rinses, which I still do religiously. PM me if you need more info.

good idea for the thread, becuz i was a little nervous to post.
my name is rhonda im 25 years old, i just had my first child 1/1/08
i enjoy doing real estate, traveling, and spending time with the fam.
i've been SL since forever, my hair grows slowly, and my goal is APL. i'm hoping to get there by at least next year. i just started learning and absorbing all this information on hair care, its very interesting, and i'm excited so count me on some challenges.

K.D.
Former military brat living in Texas
Senior in college majoring in Mass Communication/Media Studies, graduating (I think/hope) in Dec. Not sure of what I want to do
but can't wait to get out of Texas (I hate the weather)

I first began looking into black hair care after I got a few track sewn about 2 years ago for more fullness. For some reason I listened to my beautician and let her touch me up a few times with the tracks still in. I honestly thought it sounded like a bad idea, but didn't speak up. Needless to say after taking them out my hair was FUBAR :look:.

I've had 2 failed transitions and I'm finally natural as of this year and learning how to properly care for my hair again.

I'm 34 yrs young, getting ready to turn 35 in August.
I'm a Leo. :2cool:
I did the BC in March of this year. I decided to go natural after a bad dye job and my hair was breaking off really bad. Plus I had wanted to go natural for a while. I did some research before I went for it. Its not one of those thing you decide on in the spur of the moment, IMO. I must say I am loving the natural journey.:reddancer:
I work with people that have mental and physical handicaps, and I luv em to death. I really believe working with these people is one of my callings in life.
I'm not married and have no kids. (hope to someday).
I just got out of a 7yr relationship, an enjoying being single.
Lets see, what else, I Love My Hair!!! :yahoo:

I'm Nubianqt, soon to be first year law student and breathing on BSL. I like running, reading, music, and meeting new people. I'm from and am currently living in the wonderful state of Texas.

ETA: I started my transition from relaxed to natural in February of 2005, BCed in May 0f 2006, and texturized my hair in October of 2006. My goal length is to be waist length straight and since I usually wear it curly my second goal would be MBL curly.
