Born and raised in Baltimore, then lived in ATL for College-Spelman, then Nashville-Med School, Meharry, now Chicago-finally working my first job ever!). Single, no human kids.
I joined LHCF what seems like eons ago, but never really "joined". Couldn't make up my mind about what to do with this here hair of mine:drunk:. Tried to transition for the 4th time, then relaxed, now transitioning again (10 weeks for my edges...16 weeks for everywhere else:wallbash: (long stupid story but needed my hair cut to be fly for my reunion:lachen:
Anyways, I finally feel like its the right time to introduce myself to my natural hair:yep:. Its always been short, never longer than just below shoulders.
I'm slightly neurotic and obsessed about hair these days; you name it, I've tried it. PJ is my middle name. No set regi yet (but waiting for my Wen to arrive any day now

LOL@ 'tree jobs'....I want to be a mystery shopper--is it as easy as they say it is...?

Dry hair?
Do you mean moisturizing conditioners and shampoos?
Well I've used:

  • Elucence MB and the shampoo
  • Nexxus Therapee Humectress
  • Proclaim Aloe and Shea butter
  • Keracare Humecto
I'm with Elucence right now.
I have medium thick hair. I'm a 3c/4a/4b (i think) or something like that... :look: Man, all I know is that Lois hairtype thingy said I had O strands. So I'm going with it.
Anyway these products worked well for MY hair.
I've heard that Aubrey Organics and Kenra I believe are good as well. I have yet to try it. I'm trying to work through the stuff I have. THere are some 'best conditioner' best shampoos out there but I don't remember where I stuck them.

This LHCF link talks about hair moisturizers. Mostly oils if you're into kitchen alchemy.

I'm not sure about the hair type thing either, but I'm willing to go through trial and errror finding out what works for my hair. I have to reeducate myself. I got to the point where I'm no longer even bothering to wear a satin bonnet on my head.:look::perplexed:lachen:

*Snapping fingers* Capricorn, and my name is Platinum . I am a 35 year old female truck driver, married, mother of 2 beautiful girls (15 and 14- her birthday is today), and step mother to 2 handsome men (20 and 19). I love to cook, shop, and travel. I'm 6'0" tall, 165lbs and I love to see people's reactions with they see me step out of my truck. As you can see from the number of posts that I have, I love talking about hair.:look: I plan to start my own trucking company within the next 5 years. I would love start a program to help provide assistance with housing, job training &employment, drug counseling, and spiritual counseling to ex-convicts and single parents.

Within the next year I would like to publish a fictional story and go to school for training to become a private investigator.

I became a member earlier this year and my hair was in bad shape. It was ear-length and severely damaged from a bad sew-in. My nape had completely broken out. My hair has realy improved since I've been here, it's an uneven neck length now (the right side is an inch longer than the left). I hope to be shoulder-length by the end of the year. My ultimate goal is waist length.

Hey Ladies!

I'm Eunique, a nineteen year old sophomore at Howard. I live in beautiful Las Vegas, NV when I'm not away at school.

I actually found LHCF when I was about 15 from a e-friend of mine when we were talking about wanting to grow our hair, but I lost the link and lost contact with the girl who shared it with me and couldn't remember the name of this place for the life of me. I came across the board again when I was 17 and got some good growth and began to really take care of my relaxed hair but I had secretly been dying to go natural. I worked up the courage to stop getting relaxers when I started at Howard last fall and after four months of transitioning I did the big chop on Dec 27.

I love journalism, politics, sneakers, literature and anything dealing with the African Diaspora.

I'm currently battling with starting locs or continuing to grow my loose naps, though I'm leaning toward the latter until the next summer.

Hi I am currently Queeny20. I plan on changing my name in a few days. Anyway I've been a member since 2004.
Married to a wonderful man for 10 years.
I am a minister.
3 beautiful girls ages 9, 7, and 5.
I am currently natural with 4b and a sprinkle of 4a.
My goal is to be waistlength and I am currently MBL.
I will be 30 on 08/08/08!!!
I was the Feb 08 FOTM.
I am seriously about my hair!!! Q

 hi i'm Tiffany!

i'm a full-time mommy, part-time student who works 2 part-time jobs. yeah my plate's kinda full. :look: enjoying my natural journey, in what little spare time i have i try to make YouTube vids of my hair. i have 2 serious hair-related addictions - HIF disease and PJism. but i'm in a good place with both of those, no need for any interventions. :drunk:

and um... if you didn't know... i really am a Libra. strangely i get that question a lot

I'm 21 and a Gemini
I will be a college senior this fall
I recently joined LHCF and so far I'm enjoying the boards
I work at a deparment store part-time

Hi yall  I'm Bobbie and I have been a member since October 2004, it's been a long time but time has flown by since I joined the site. I was born in Columbia, SC but spent most of my life in Greenville, SC. I am an Informations Systems Technician (computer technican and communications operator) in the US Navy and have been in for 9 years and currently live in Virginia Beach, VA. I'm going to be a first time mommy in December and I'm excited and nervous at the same time. As far as my hair goes  man oh man. I did the BC in April and right now I'm on my second set of braids and comtemplating going back to relaxed after the baby gets here, I'm confused about my hair right now and don't know what to do with it so I'm going to keep it braided until after my bundle of joy arrives.

:hiya3: my name is Starla aka Twilight80. I am still a newbie but I still mostly lurk around more than post. I found this site in June of this year and joined right away because I knew right away that I needed to be a part of it.

I am 27 years old and happily married. We celebrate our 6th anniversary next month! I have a 6 year old boy and a 1 year old girl.

I was born in Okinawa, Japan (military family)but was raised in Colorado Springs, CO where I currently live.

I went to Cameron University in Lawton, OK were I earned my bachelors in communication and met my hubby! Next month I will be starting on my masters degree in school counseling. Not sure why I am continuing my education since I am a sahm and have no idea when I'm going back to work. I just need to do something productive!

I use to have shoulder length hair until 9th grade when I cut it really short so I can get a perm. My grandmother had a carefree curl in my hair at the time. I love long hair on myself and I need to get my hair back. It's been too long. My goal is shoulder length hair (my shortest hair is my front which is ear length now.

It has been a month and from the changes that I made I can already tell a big difference in strength and a little growth. I have fell in love with co washing and AO honeysuckle rose conditioner!

I am a pj but I'm a controlled pj. Every time I hear about a good product, I want it but I am only trying things one at a time! I really want to try mega tek and probably will try it out next month.

I did a fokti(sp?) but I don't know how to get it on my sig. I am so glad I found this site and there are a lot of nice people on here. I mostly lurk and take in info but I'm going to try and post more. Tiffers volunteered to check in on me because I easily get discouraged.

Hi. I am a brand NEWBIE who has finally found lotsa other people obsessed with HEALTHY hair like me:drunk:.

I am Eileen(my middle name) and I am a 35 year old dentist(KrazynKute you will LOVE dentistry!) working on starting a practice with my SO in Maryland where I am from. I have practiced for abt 9 yrs as an associate.

I discovered this thread on a search for information about Phyto relaxers maybe a year ago and instantly became addicted! I lurked(still do) and joined a few months ago..

My hair has always been armpit length but never really grew past that. I stopped relaxing about six years ago and transitioned by texturizing less and less with each application bc I was afraid my hair would break off. I too have had MANY:wallbash:, even tear -filled bad experiences with hairstylists from chemical, to color, to cutting. I wish I had found this site years ago.

Now my journey for healthy hair is packed with so much more valuable information from all of you ladies and it is growing longer than I ever thought it would!:drunk: Where have you been all my life:grin:

Thank you Lady Esquire for starting this warm thread!(an congrats on your new little angel)

Thanks to everyone, all of the threads, Fotkis ,and pictures have been truly inspiring. I am not very computer savvy but I will try this Fotki and picture thing one day!
