Well first I would laugh bc there is nothing special about my hair right now. Lol! But seriously, I would not. I am too particular about who I will let play in my hair. And it sounds like a lot of manipulation!

I put maybe. It depends on whether or not they are willing to work within my limitations. Stuff like no alcohol, permanent dyes, etc. That sort of thing. Especially no cutting ._. Like my hair isn't short enough, I don't need you snipping it into some oddly shaped hairstyle.

I was asked to be a hair model and agreed. But, when I went to actually sign the contract, I declined. Your hair is at the mercy of the stylist. Which means they can do whatever they want with your hair. Is is for a hair show or demonstration? This would be key info to know. Because if it is for demos then you may be okay because it is usually a highly skilled stylist who performs demos. But if it is for a hair show, they do hairstyles and demos for "shock" value. Meaning that they may take someone with long hair and cut it short or do some type of drastic color change. So, if you decide to do it make sure its something that you want to do. And ask plenty of questions.

I was about to say that. Hair models have absolutely no say in their looks. Just think of the makeover episodes on top models where the girls get ZERO input on what they want done even if it means the whole day spent getting to platinum blond or getting your hair tightly braided. The don't have freedom if you put a limitation like "you can't cut an inch" or "you can't heat style my hair."

This is especially the case with trained platform artists who are just showing creative, couture looks. Just think of some of the stuff you see on hair shows like bangs barely an inch away from the hair line or a severely asymmetrical cut that would be a nightmare to outgrow.

It would depend on the job and the pay. If it's just a one-time modeling gig for some change, then no way. But if it was an ongoing deal where I was going to be doing ads and commercials and product wrappers and be paid accordingly, then I'd do it.

I'm a hair model, I normally get sew ins, so they want touch my real hair, because for hair magazines and hair shows they do alot to your hair, flat iron, curling, cutting, and etc. So I get sew ins done so my real hair want take the abuse.

I haven't did any hair modeling this year...

Type Of Work:Hair Shows,Hair magazines:Universal Salon,Hype Hair,Black Hair,etc

P.S. when I go to auditions, if they mention coloring and cutting of my real hair, I run for my life

Well I'm hair adventurous so I'd do it even if it was a one time thing just for the fun of it but definitely would be nice if it turned into an ongoing thing.

Sew ins are a good idea. I'll file this for future reference. :)

congrats on that. but i chose absolutely not. then again i dont think i would want to be any kind of model unless im working for and promoting myself. and sure hair grows back but im saying...i dont know about you but im on a mission here

ETA: off topic but...i love your new siggy adora. those first two hair styles are kayuteee!

I'd do print for wigs & braids like Outre & Sensationnel. That would be fun. But I would put my foot down on micros. And yes, I would be that model smiling all big wearing a half wig that doesn't blend with my natural hair color.

The styling part? I can deal w/ hair dye. I'd be reluctant to get my hair relaxed again because I'm over scalp burns. That's the thing, I don't mind color, heat styling, etc. If it gets damaged, I'll just switch to the wig modeling for awhile. It's the physical discomfort like burns & too much tension.

I'd also be reluctant to be in those hairshows wearing a giant quickweave w/ a motor engine spinning wings on the side of my head in rainbow colors.

No.

I was asked once years ago to model for a natural hair showcase. But after seeing some photos of a past show, I just knew they were going to do everything they could to ruin my hair for just a couple of fancy, nearly impossible styles. Not ever worth it.

Anyone thought of a LONG HAIR show?

A kind of LONG HAIR CARE FORUM show maybe once a year being sponsored by popular healthy hair products and such.

After reading the rest of your options, I realised that there might be some give and takes. Like them dying, relxing and chemically processing my hair like crazy!!! I was thinking more of "we love your hair just the way it is, will you be our model!?" and they style my hair and use healthy products.... hmm so if it were like to be an all natural model, whyyyy nooottt!!!!?? I would do it!

yes, for at least five grand... on the condition that that my hair would not be relaxed or cut more than 2 inches. for a million they could shave me bald like an eagle and slap one of looong good's (i think he/she got banned) wigs on my head.:yep:

I modeled years ago for a hair show. My hair was pretty lengthy so the stylist trimmed my ends and tried to maintain the length. The styling process was a bit harsh because the guy was trying to show the audience he was a "super-stylist extrodinaire " and manhandled my hair more than I would have liked. In the end, though, my hair looked nice and I got some free product out of it.

I don't think I'd do it again, though. I've got hair goals to reach.

I did plenty of hair shows when I was younger. I never let them cut my hair (which never seemed to be an issue) and never suffered any damage. I mainly got updo's, my real hair straightened, worn curly (had a texturizer), or weaves. I got a color once (rinse) but I would never have allowed for a color lift. All of the stylists that I worked with were receptive to how I felt about my hair. I never signed any contracts (and didn't get paid) but it was fun. I would suggest talking to the lady and getting into specific details about what they want to do and what you are willing or unwilling to have done before making your decision if it still sounds like something you would want to do.

I would as long as they cut my hair and the product wasn't a total piece of crap. Like, if a rep for Luster's approached me...I would have to decline, lol!!

I wouldn't mind doing print ads for herbal essences or something like that, but only if they didn't cut or color my hair. I've never colored my hair and I'm not starting now. Also, I'm knocking on the door of being 40 so no cutting either! I gotta hold on to every inch!

not at this stage in the game...probably never. i am months from my hair goal and it would not be worth the risk.

I voted no. I have invested too much time into my hair goals, and my hair goals are more important than being in any hair show where my hair is going to be manipulated by an unknown person.

I put maybe. It depends on what they would be asking for me to do to my hair. Cut it = no. Flat iron and blowdry would be okay since i don't do that to my hair anyways, so it would be a once in a blue moon kind of thing.
Although at this point I don't think anyone will be asking ME to be a hair model ahahaha :D

I was a hair model for Dudley's back in the early 80's...was the best experience, EVER!

I use to use their products faithfully, well...mostly because I got them for free, but also because their products were really good. Their Hair Rebuilder was the best! My hair loved their products....hmmmmm:look:

ETA: Back then, I didn't mind get a cut...my hair grew like weeds. I also had one the top stylist do my hair at the time (Dougy, or something like that) and he was an older stylist and masterful at what he did.

Would I do it now? No, I'm not so cutting edge with my hair anymore, but you couldn't tell me nuthin back in the day!!!
