How many years to get to ur goal lenght?

I started at SL I am currently past APL not quite BSL yet (recent setback). My beautician says I should be at WSL APRIL 09. That would be 2 yrs total

I'm doing my goals in steps. It keeps me motivated I had cut my hair from the length you see in my avitar to old school Halle Berry short. Here were my steps:

Halle Berry Short to bob short (in layers)-5months
Bob Short to Neck length (in layers)- 3-4months
Neck Length to shoulder (in layers)-4months

My next step is to get to full APL probably take 8-10 months

I'm hair obsessed so stages is good for me too.
Right now I'm SL and I hope to reach APL by summer '09.
My ultimate goal is Mid-Back/or hip length. GROW BABY GROW!!!

I just happened to be looking at Cichelle's fotki

• She had a pic from July 2005 when she did big chop where she was about Neck Length
• I did my big chop in July 2008 and I was about NL (see siggy)
  

So judging from her progress

• She reach MBL unstretched July 2007 (2 years after big chop)
• She also went on to grow beyond WL by her 3rd year of being natural, but I am going to stop at MBL
  

I expect to reach my goal 2 years after my BC July 2010.

I think I could get to MBL straightened/stretched sometime in 2009.

I'm also using Cichelle's growth journey as my guide. The only exception is that she transitioned for 14 months and I only transitioned for 6. Right now I am a little over 13 months post relaxer and my hair unstreched is neck length in the back.

I guess I should answer my own thread by saying that I joined LHCF in Feb 2008 at SL in the back, and about 2 inches shorter than Chin Lenght in the front. I had major setbacks from too much protein, wearing my hair out too much, to a really bad henna/cellophane experience in July which made me swear off Henna/cellophane for life! Now that I changed my regime, and now bun and baggie like my life depends on it! I'm glazing APL (not claiming it until I'm full) and my front is a little past Chin Lenght.

I dusted my hair in March, and will not dust/trim my hair until I'm either full ALP, or SL in the front and BSL in the back

My starting point in June '07 was a bit past APL. My original goal of BSL was reached by March '08. I reached MBL in July or August, can't remember right now. My ultimate goal is to have curly BSL but with my shrinkage that might mean TBL+ which I'm just not even interested in. Once I hit WL I'll be cutting back to a U or V shape MBL. I'm really just gonna maintain my practices and see where I am this time next year, no goals set. After all, I've already reached my first goal and then some!

Well, I'm APL now and I expect to be BSL by the end of Jan 2009 at least, MBL by this time next year and WL natural by this time in 2010. I am using MT and starting tonight OCT (it just came today-yay!!) so I may hit my goals sooner. I also will be adding emu oil-when I find it-to my castor oil grapeseed coconut oil mix. Yeah yall, I'm not playing, I want to get my grow on. I that I will be doing with my hair real soon so I can be walking around doing. Foe sho'!

Man RZILYNT you just made me change my goal length. I did want BSL when I started and then I went to wanting MBL. Now I want whatever length you are at. I started in Feb. and I guess I too must be a slow grower because I don't see much growth, but it is thicker and healther. I don't know how long it would take to get to MBL and then on to where you are, but I'm gonna guess 2 to 3 years.

I think I have about 2 1/2 more years, 3 at the most. I'm at APL after 3 years being natural; but I didn't really take such good care of my hair this year and I think that with proper care and maintenance I can make WL in no time.

Wow, seems like a lot of ladies want to grow super long - I personally only want my hair to get to APL or BSL. I should be at APL by Feb. 09 (sooner, but I'm being cautious!) I last did a trim in February 08 and have routinely dusted lightly. I will probably trim again in Feb. 09.

I am going to give myself 3yrs. that is how long I will be away from family. When I get off the plane back to the states I want to be like woa like at that hair. It has been only 2mos and I have learned that my hair loves co-washing, that it does grow .5 a month and it has thickened up a lot. I think I am going to get to full BSL by this time seeing that I am between EL and chin length. Oh in Oct I will start the crown and glory method for a year to see if that will help me retain lenght if it does I will do until I get to my goal length!

I didn't trim for a whole year. Then I did every 6 months. Sorry for the delay....trying to finish dinner too. It was more like a dusting... I told my stylist to trim my ends but don't let the scissors touch my hair...She knew exactly what I meant too...LOL

Rzilynt, you and I have similar ideals. LOL I have not trimmed in 2 years. First I will trim an inch off to start. Then start my trim goal of every six months. Depending on the condition of my ends, I will take off 1/4 inch or dust. I plan on going to a Barber to do it so I won't be bothered with them washing first.

I am looking forward to seeing if my current regimen will help me accomplish my goals. I want an afro the size of a beach ball then I tie a scarf around the front to the nape. Ha!

3 Years is a good length of time to get the length you want. You should be able to do it if you can reduce breakage and retain at least 5 inches in each year which means 15 inches total. If you measure where your hair is now and add 15 inches you will see where you will end up if you can keep at least 5 inches per year. I forget what the crown and glory method is. What is it? I think there is a website that explains it.
