Help with Wedding songs

Can anyone give me a resource for wedding reception songs?
What are some good cake-cutting songs? What are some good first dance songs? I wanted "So High" by John Legend but he doesn't want that one because it's 5 mins and he doesn't want to dance that long because it's too long.

He picked out some other songs and the titles sound good but the lyrics are songs about being broken up and wanting to get back together. Are there any songs that have lyrics as sweet as the song's title?

Our reception will be crazy because we both have some crazy cultural background, so I know a lot of times one side of the guests will be like:perplexed
 
I also love this one. I'm not 1000% sure if its absolutely right for a wedding but I know I'd marry any guy who spoke these words to me!

Ok last one... (unless I think of another one!)

This one is for Father-Daughter dance. Its very specific because he's singing to his to his new son-in-law about loving his daughter. I don't think I could use this at my wedding becuase I'd never make it through the dance!

I think I cried the first 20 or so times I heard this song! In fact they have more than one song that moves me to tears! Dangit!!

- Skin (I can't drive if this song is on!)
- What Hurts the Most

Its a much longer list!

You're welcome! Since they're country artists, they sometimes get past the radar. I only discovered them and some others after I had my car tuned and the mechanic changed my radio station. I've been hooked ever since! You should also check out Sugarland! That girl can sing!
 
You will probably get a million suggestions for this song, but my DH and I danced to Etta James singing "At Last." It wasn't the same ole, same ole for us. The song's lyrics hold special meaning and the discovery of the song was special as well but I digress, I don't want to hijack your thread! :grin:

Beautiful lyrics - very relevant to me and I'm sure a lot of others too. I'm not a country fan either but I do really like Carrie Underwood's voice. If Joe sang this song, I'd be all over it :grin:

Well, maybe not Joe (at least for me), but I get your point. I can't see myself playing an obviously country song at my wedding, no matter HOW pretty it is, but if they R&B it up, we in bidness!!! :yep:

I know, right? Another pretty country song Ive always liked is "When you Say Nothing at All" by Allison Krauss. A tad bit too country, not sure I would play it at the wedding but I love the lyrics.

I thought he was singing about the LOSS of his father, and how he really wish he had a chance to dance with him again---also how he wished his mother could see the father again.
 
We had Etta James "at Last" and "Stairway to Heaven" as we walked in to our reception. We danced the first dance to "At Last"

What is that song they played at Toni Childs (Girlfriends) wedding. Something about "have I found my soul mate?"
 
My two favorite songs for wedding first dances has got to be Patti LaBelle's "My Love, Sweet love" (which I may walk down the aisle to when I get married.) And I love Champaign's "How 'Bout Us."

Now, for the reception to get every one on the dance floor, nothing starts a party like Chaka Khan's "Ain't Nobody." I literally can't stay in my seat when I hear that little keyboarded intro.

Hey, I'm kinda old school. :o :lol:
