Hair grew the best when?

Ladies this is real funny but my hair grew the most when I was pregnant and before I went on my diet. I lost 20 pds almost lost my hair to.I guess the weight was supporting my hair growth. My hair was so long my hair stylist use to always ask me why does it grow so much I truly didn't know when I lost the weight I knew why. I can't get that type of growth anymore have to work for it now but my abs are fierce

.

Honestly it grew alot when I didn't obsess over it like I do now. I hardly ever did deep conditioning and I didn't take supplements. Maybe I would do a hot oil treatment here and there. I used to use Sulfur 8 and Doo Grow (the purple grease). It's weird man.

My hair grew most about 1yr after my first child. I wasn't doing anything and I frequented the Dominican Salon. I was heavier then, I think I was getting ALLL my vitamins and minerals, unfortunately so was my stomach!

But I since I have come here, I am learning new tricks that are already showing results in terms of growth!

-When I didn't comb it
-I wore up-dos
-extended my perms, every 4 months
-a deep conditioned everytimed I washed

My Hair Grows best when I stretch my relaxers by wearing braids months at a time. The braids may thin out my edges badly but they do grow the rest of my hair quite nicely.

My hair grew best when I was younger and my mother took care of it.

Ditto.

Also when I stopped using heat (my mom wouldn't use the blowdryer on my hair either) and when I wore it in double strands.

When I exercised and ate right regularly.
When I had a lot of protein and went down on carbs (i.e eggs and chicken sausage for breakfast every other day) My nails also benefitted.
And like some others have said -low manipulation

When I was going to the salon every 2 weeks. I'm not even gonna lie... I never washed my hair in between visits. I just tied a scarf on it at night and left it alone.

When I had gotten semi-micro braids done with human hair at an African Braiding shop. I left those bad boys in for 5 MONTHS! (Mostly because the thought of taking all of them out gave me a headache so I kept putting it off) I wet it everyday in the shower cause I loved the wet & wavy look, braid spray or hair lotion & mousse when it got dry throughout the day. Touched up the top and edges as I went along. Drank at least 2 or 3 water bottles a day along with protein shakes. I don't know exactly how much it grew in inches, but it was pretty dramatic to me and everyone around me.

My hair right now is growing pretty consistantly, I wanted to come up with a regimen where protective styling or braids wouldn't have to be required to attain and retain length. Since I started going to the salon every 2 weeks and not applying any heat to my hair on my own, just wrapping it every night, sometimes going the 2 weeks without washing myself. My hair has grown about 2 1/2 inches from then to now. That would be mid-Nov. to Mid-Feb

For me, the best results have come from:

1. Stretching relaxers while using a low/no manipulation routine.
2. Drinking plenty of water
3. Using henna regularly
4. Maintaining a good moisture/protein balance

I just found out I was pregnant with my daughter, my hair was breaking all summer prior so I decided to cut all my hair OFF, the back shaved high and all. I wore it short for two months, and let the back grown in, as soon and I had enough hair, I wore microbraids for the next 7 months. weekly wash and condition, moisture and braid touch-ups was all I didn. three weeks after I had her, I took the braids out, let it rest for 5 days and got it relaxed, (had to attend my cousins wedding)I didnt know what to expect, but when I left the stylist chair I had lower-ear length hair. It was full, healthy, shinny and bouncing. The best my hair evr looked out of a salon.

My hair grew the best when I was in high school and wore it mostly in buns or in its natural curly state with tons of leave-in conditioner
When I stopped going to hair stylists/Less Trims
And when I incorporated more protein into my diet

my entire regimen..lol minus the salon

When I use to eat a lot of dark green leafy veggies (esp collards), washed by hair 2x per wk, used a no-lye relaxer, and kept it twisted. My hair grew longer than I can ever remember. I'm going back to using a no-lye.

When i wore nothing but weaves, sometimes half, sometimes full heads, and took prenatal vitamins when i was pregnant... I may go back to that. Not the pregnant but the all weaves and prenatals...

When I went to the salon every two weeks to get my hair washed and treated, my hair was BSL and thick.

Last year after a big chop at JcPenney, I stretched my relaxer for 5 months (until May), went abroad and used Keracare Conditioning Cream ONY as a source of moisture. While I was there I didn't do much to my hair. I came back and got a relaxer in late June, got my hair done every 2 - 3 weeks and got another Affirm relaxer in August. I've been using Conditioning Cream on my hair since.

Since January (Thanks to NUELLE - SHOUT OUT) I have been using oils on my ends and all over my hair BEFORE washing it. I've also been working out more and just taking care of my overall health. I've also been to the salon every 3 weeks or so for Keracare products, good deep conditions, and protein treatments.

Yes I could do my hair at home but to be honest I really love going to the stylist and it's a treat for myself, I don't clog up the drain/use too much water/electricity.

In sum:
1. Keracare line (Conditioning Cream in particular, and this Jojoba Oil once a week)
2. Oils (almond, pure jojoba)
3. Affirm relaxers (Keracare)
4. Oh and bunning
