Hair grew the best when?

My hair is at its best right now and basically I am doing the same thing my mom did when I was little. I wet my hair everyday, except she would make 2 ponytails and would brush my hair with a wet brush. She never used used conditioner back then. I'm not even sure if conditioner was around in the 70's, but my hair type was different too. It wasn't as dry as it is now. Anyhow, it grew like a weed back then as it is now. My hair is at its softest since I was a teenager.

I am going way back, my hair grew best when I had the infamous CURL! That juicy stuff was down my back

I seemed to take better care of my hair when I was in high school. I didn't use the curling iron as much and I didn't really pay attention to my hair. Go figure

My hair grew best when I moisturized every single and kept the ends tucked in 99% of the time. That was back in 1997 when I was a Wanakee follower. Then I stopped the Wanakee regimen and my hair stopped retaining length. Since coming to this board this year in May (viewing at first but closely following interesting regimens), I think this is my best hair growing time ever. The front is finally catching up with the back after many years of neck length on my right, front side. Even when my hair was bra strap length, that darn right-front stayed neck length, it was sooo stubborn. NOW, this particular piece is 1 inch past my shoulder. Im still in awe. Everytime I look in the mirror, I have a big stupid grin on my face

, cause it's has been sooooo long since it budged.

It's amazing because I actually thought that part of my scalp was dead or something.

when i was in high school- about eight years ago and wore braids constantly. it also grew well about two years ago using bronner bros. sulphur n sage grease!
BUT, my hair has never been HEALTHIER since getting into hair boards. i think my hair is starting to grow fast again. now that i know its not impossible, im not settling for neck length hair!!

my hair grew the fastest and healthiest, when I first went natural and washed it every morning with Dr.Bonners peppermint shampoo.

My hair has been growing like crazy since Ive been roller setting my hair once a week. Ive also added olive oil to moisturize my hair and that has done wonders during this cold weather!

and I forgot that using natural hair products helped my hair and scalp heal. That made so much difference!

Lately, my nape area has been growing like crazy! And I think it's because I spray it with my moisturizing spray every single day and every couple of days, I add oil to seal in moisture. It's getting so long, I'm amazed!

Thanks Hairlove. I'm adding this to my hair regime for my nape area too.

My hair grew best when I started coming on this board and trying some of the things I saw. I think constant moisture, aggressive vitamin regimen, braids to minimize manipulation and DRASTICALLY cutting down on the heat (all things I picked up here) have helped me to achieve more length than I can ever remember having before and I can only hope that it will continue to grow and grow and grow!!

my hair grows the best when i LEAVE IT ALONE...i can wear sew-in weaves, braids, cornrows, but as soon as i get a relaxer it falls out...each and every time...y'all don't know how many times i've had to start over...lol

when i was a child and my mother pressed and curled it. and now since i did the big chop in june 03- it is growing very quickly and is healthier/thicker than it has been in a while. Currently at 3 inches- due for a trim in march. Rinse daily, use leave-in conditioner, shampoo/deep conditon weekly- hot oil treatment- when i want to weekly/bi-weekly- clarify- monthly w/ ACV or lemon juice rinse

Which natural products are you using ? Which ones helped your scalp?

yes i know this is old as crap but now i've gotten into newew things and for me mine is: Taking the womens ultra mega vitamins and braids and spraying s-curl everyday 1-3 times a day.

My hair grew best in middle school... 12-14 yrs old (I'm 20 years old now). My mom would always roll my wet hair with magnetic plastic rollers and setting lotion. My hair was about neck-shoulder length. I would go to school with those curls in my head. I didn't comb through them or anything. I hated it because I felt like it was little girl's hairstyle and people would call me Shirley Temple

. But it actually promoted my hair growth because I wasnt coming into contact with it.

I started wearing my hair down when i got to highschool (14-18 years old). I would wash my hair every 2-4 weeks and trimmed every 4-6 months. I would relax my hair every 4-6 weeks. My freshman year in high school, my hair was almost to bra-strap length.

Approx. six months ago from now, I made the biggest mistake ever...got it layered to mid-neck length

Now Im glad I found this forum to help me grow my hair back
smile.gif
I am now wearing protective hairstyles (rollerwraps, buns, etc.), taking vitamins, washing my hair 1-2wks, relax 2-4months, and i havent trimmed my hair. my ends arent split and arent in bad shape. plus i hardly ever got trims as it is. im waiting til it is brastrap length to trim it even.

hmmm...i wonder if applying heat really makes a difference in having long hair...but my hair did stay the same length for a while

My hair grew best when I began having it braided 8 years ago. At that time I also worked out like intensely, drank crazy amounts of water, in addition to consuming a daily Myoplex protein shake. ( Body for Life ) supplement.

My hair grew the best when I was in Florida on vacation. I got two inches in two weeks and I didn't change my diet and the only different hair product that I was using was GinGrow Ginseng hair oil.

Unfortunately, I live in cold New York. <img src="http://64.62.140.213/~longhair/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

My God daughter uses this product and her hair grows super fast. Her mother really believes it's that grease. Her hair is down to her butt. Once it broke off really bad from a bad perm but it all grew back.

When I was a child my mother use to shampoo my hair all the time and I had tailbone length hair. She did not always condition it. She would use a creme rinse. My hair was very strong and did not break alot. That is when my hair grew very long.

My hair is growing best right now. When I stopped relaxing, I got fantastic growth retension, but I was still getting dryness and split ends because I wasn't caring for my hair. Now that I am trying to be more consistent in getting this stuff healthy, I am on the right track. My natural hair is shoulder length with shrinkage, just by taking it out of two twists. It is so thick I love it.

my hair grew best when my mom was doin it as a child....

wash , grease and braid it up...simple.

now that i went back to the basics these last ten-eleven years it aint doin so bad now either.....

my mom looked at my hair when i was first going natural and inspected it (after years of relaxers) and she said " ohhh my your hair is looking like it did , when you were a child again, leave it like this!!!" she was all in awe at my new growth.....i did just that too

My hair has been growing greal lately.

I make sure that my scalp is CLEAN. Oils and crap on the scalp don't help me.

I reatain a lot more length by wearing twistouts 24/7, only finger combing and using lots of s-curl

I now know that my hair grows best and at its healthiest when I keep my products natural and minimun.

The last few months have prooven that.

Also during highschool, I would use a blow dryer with a comb attachment to dry my hair, I would wear my hair in a ponytail when I went to sleep or just down without any scarfs or caps to protect my hair and then I would use the curling irons in the morning to curl my hair. My hair still grew
