Hair grew the best when?

My hair grew alot when it was in a dry curly perm years ago. Prolly due to the no heat regime and constant moisture products used.

Now though, my relaxed hair has grown best since ditching curling irons/blow dryers and keeping the ends well oiled and moisturized.

My hair actually grew the best last schoolyear when I was constantly going to the gym, eating alot of salads, and washing my hair once a week. I also used heat once a week but that didnt stop it from growing. Now I swear by exercise being included in ur regime!

Since coming to the board my hair is a whole lot healthier. It has grown past bra strap where as before coming here it just hovered above it not going anywhere.

I've learned a tremendous amount from everyone!

last summer wen i had a weav put in i gained a inch in a month which despite the fact that i have added vitamins to my regiment now am only gettin 1/2 an inch

My hair grows best under the following circumstances - or when I started (or stopped) doing the following:
<ul type="square">
[*]Eliminating Blowdryers.
[*]Going to Dominican salons regularly (which actually prompted a move rollersets which is what I think that was really about).
[*]Taking vitamins regularly without skipping days (still working on this - BAD BAD TRACY).
[*]The summer always sparks great growth spurts for me.
[*]Washing more frequently than once a week .

It's been growing very well the last 3 years (and especially the last 3 months) since:
1. Got rid of the relaxers...all chemicals in general
2. Keep my hair very moisturized...glycerin (scurl)
3. Keep it protected
In that order. My hair is growing now like it has never grown.

Yes, I noticed that my hair grows SOOOO much more during the summer and I'm not sure why that is. Also, it grows more when I work out.

Luvin this thread!

My hair grew best when I was in high school, and when I was using Hollywood Beauty castor oil consistently, even though it made my scalp flake and scale really bad. Also, the more I did to it, the more it grew.

My first experience with braids was horrible, and so I have some in now that I did, and I can't wait to take them out. Quite impatient. You guys think 3 weeks is too soon?

I am going to start using shea butter after I take out these braids, and maybe use the castor oil twice a month or something.

I noticed this weekend that my hair seems to grow the best when I...

1. Extended my relaxer touch ups.

2. Shampoo at least twice a week with a regular schedule of conditioning.

3. Airdry while using a rollerset. I'm too lazy to sit under a hairdryer so I sleep on my rollers and yes my head hurts the next day - haven't found a way around this yet. I don't wrap and my curls usually last for about 4 days.

Well aren't you the brave little grasshopper.

I could NEVER sleep in any type of rollers, unless it's the 3 that I wear in the center of my head.

My hair is at it's best right now

All I do is wash my hair every week, get my ends trimmed every 12 weeks, and I wrap my hair every night and tie it down with a silk scarf. I use no heat (except for the roller-set after I wash) and I alternate between conditioners and treatments.

Right now, I'm trying to stretch out the relaxer to 12 weeks instead of 7, just to see if I can get my hair to grow an inch every month instead of the usual 3/4

Excellent Post!

For me it was the spring/summer and fall of 2001. My hair grew like what! Back then I washed it approximately every 3/4 weeks (yes 3/4 weeks - gross yes I know BUT I no longer do this of course

) and I used Protectiv Moisturizer for the ends (the pink one). Because of my infrequent washings I would only wear it back in a bun with the ends tucked under. I also took a daily vitamin. My touch ups were approximately every 3-3.5 months. Every time I would go for a touch up, the hairdresser would be amazed at my 3.5" of growth!

I don't have my hair in braids, but it sounds like my story. So I guess my hair is growing at its best right now

My hair grew best in 9th grade when I got my mid-back length hair cut down to 1 inch and feathered. Within 3 months, my hair was a little past shoulder length. Then 3 months later, my hair was touching bra-strap. I have no idea what caused my hair to grow so fast, but I wish that it would happen again!

BUMP! I want to read more answers to this question. I am still waiting for my best growing time.

My hair grew best pre-relaxer when my Mother was maintaining it (up to 9th grade). She would wash and conditioning it twice a week. grease my hair with blue magic, and style it in ponytails with twists, french braids, or 2 long plaits.

Now, the only thing that I would have cut out was the blue magic on the scalp and I would have added hot oil treatments.

two times stand out in my memory when my hair grew well. the first was when i had singles. they were kind of big but they were in for two months and i had a lot of growth. actually it wasn't so much the growth but lack of breakage. also i my hair did well when i got my ends cliped after gettin' it pressed at the shop. i want to mix the two but i'm avoiding heat styling for the summer so . . .

When I mosturized my hair. And now my hair is in the longest lentgh it has been ever in my life. Thank You everyone.

My hair is natural. It grew (and grows) the best when I decided to quit pressing my hair weekly five years ago, and eventually eliminating the usage of heat on my hair.
