December 2015: Hits & Misses

Hits: Annabelle's Perfect Blends leave in
These things have NEVER failed me. My roots are so soft. I've been using these on my twists.

Annabelle's Cupuacu Hair Lotion
Tore the package open in hopes of getting my hands on this bad boy! Nice creamy consistency. Used it on a small section of hair at the nape, made my hands soft as well as my hair. It works great on dry hair. I can't wait to use it as a leave in.

Hit: Alikay Naturals creme brulee curling custard. This gives my hair incredible elongation. The best part is that it also gives me volume which is weird. So far loving it. Just wish it had more slip while being applied
After trying everything from that line....the creme brulee is the only thing I have been using. I switch it off sometimes with Kurl Krush from Soultanicals....

MISS: Sarenzo Pumpkin Moisturizing conditioner...did not moisturize anything! First time I used it, my ends stuck together. 2nd time I mixed it with Jakeala's Honey Mask (which I know is moisturizing) and it still sucked. Felt like a protein treatment. No slip, which is weird because it felt slippery on my palms.

HIT: Camille Rose Coconut water Style Setter under Camille Rose Curlmaker. Light, fluffy defined curls. Hopefully I can get 2nd day hair or more out of it.

MISS
lookfantastics customer service. I was sent the wrong phillip kingsley package through no fault of my own. But to return it and get the products that I want I have to go through the process of posting it back and getting a refund before repurchasing the products. With no promise of a voucher or money off the next purchase or anything for the inconvenience. You need to try again. and do better

Moderate hit: Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Conditioner

It wasn't all that different from any other deep conditioner for a fraction of the cost. Made my hair feel nice and it was a little shinier than usual.

Definite hit: CurlyKids Deep Conditioner

It's only $4 for 8oz, a little goes a long way and it made my new growth (14 weeks post) and my relaxed hair feel nice and soft. It didn't make my hair any shinier but it's not dull either and most of the hairs that came out were shed. I really like it.

Miss: 4 Naturals Extra Moist Detangling Shampoo

Detangling my foot. More like tangling shampoo.

Ok hit: 4 Naturals Extra Moist Detangling Conditioner

Felt really great going on and immediately after rinsing out my hair was still pretty soft/slippery but after that it just felt ok. By the time I completely dried my hair felt fine. Definitely not bad for a rinse out conditioner but I'm not sure if it'll be a repurchase...

Initial ok hit: Pure & Natural Shampoo

Got this from the Dollar Tree... It actually didn't strip my hair like most shampoo and it lathered nicely with a mild smell. I'll use it a few more times to see how it goes.

Continued hit: Spa House Salon Conditioner

I can't find it at the Dollar Tree anymore but Big Lots has it for the same 20oz bottle for $1.

Major continued HIT:

@Chicoro's Moisture Drenched Pre poo. This prepoo is amazing. It never disappoints.

New Hit:

Redken Moisture Hydratation Conditioner works similar or better than my loving Aussie Moist for detangling and softening my hair like butter:lick:. I have easier access to Redken than Aussie so I may end up replacing it altogether:sad:

The bolded was a major, major HIT for me @CodeRed. It made my hair the softest it's ever felt even after a henna treatment and for me, that's rare. I bought it in the 33.9 oz jar from www.sleekhair.com almost for the same cost as the 16 oz jar - literally just a dollar more.

Where did you get yours from? There are some fake ones out there. It's amazing how different our hair can be, isn't it?

I got the tube from TJ Maxx for $10. I think it's nice...not bad... I just think that I expected more for the price it ordinarily costs. It didn't blow me out of the water because I could go get a 4 lb tub of Nairobi Humecta-Sil for $35 - $45 and it has about the same affect (the Nairobi might be better). I even tried it on my daughter's hair (her hair likes everything) and her hair is curly/wavy... it was super tangled because she wore it down 3 days in a row and this conditioner was just ok. I expected it to detangle more or something... It's not bad but for that price I expect almost a miracle

Major Hit:
Joico moisture recovery balm. Never in my life relaxed or natural has my hair been this soft and easy to comb out. I lost no hair while detangling my leave ins glided through, I don't even think I needed them. The only con is the price, I heard that TJ Maxx carries it but I have yet to look there. Its an instant staple.

I'm going to try that sometime this week. I've heard lots of good things about it everywhere. I got mine from TJ Maxx... 8.5 oz for $7.99. I used it years ago and I liked it but I don't remember the exact effect it had on my hair or why I stopped using it...

Well it is a protein treatment which is expected to strengthen the hair. The bonus for me was the softness it added to my strands. I really was not expecting that, so it was a pleasant surprise for me.

Now that Nairobi does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for my hair at all:nono:, lol! I like Keracare Humecto wayyyy better.

I think my hair just likes expensive conditioners, period! Which by the way, is not a good thing for my pocketbook:nono: Thankfully Aussie Moist works in my hair as a great cowash but Redken Moisture Hydratation is even better on my hair. I think our hair is just very different and likes different things:ohwell:.

ETA: I do understand about that crazy cost though and expecting a miracle:lol:. If it had not worked for me, I would want to hit the roof:pullhair:

This is why I buy things as small as possible when I'm trying them out... I'd be very unhappy if I bought a huge thing/multiples of something and it didn't work for me.

I didn't know this was a protein treatment either... they definitely need to advertise it as such and tell people to follow with a moisture treatment if needed. I tried the moisturizing rinse and it did almost the same thing as the masque did.
