August 2007 Hits & Misses

You know this thread is like homeroom to some of us! :blush3:

 Yep yep!!

I'm loving my shealoe butter on my hair! This one is a not to distant second to my EndAll which continues to be a rave. The kitchen chemist in me will be adding a few things (avocado butter, coconut and castor oils) to the shealoe to see if I can come closer to the EndAll's magic.

Another continued rave from last month are my herbal washes. Wow, why in the world did I sleep on these? :wallbash: I've had MINIMAL shedding and breakage approaching 8 weeks post retouch. At this rate, I'm going to push towards a 10 week stretch. :scratchch

I  Shealoe!!!!!!! Softness and shine; I couldn't ask for more.

Hit :

Pantene Relaxed and Natural Breakage Defense Mask : I used this as instant conditioner in the shower yesterday and I loved it. I am going to try it with heat next.

The bold is so true. The kitchen chemist in me wants to add a little something to this or that all the time. I just can't help it. I use something and think, "Hmmm, I know I can give this kick if I add xyz.":yep:

HUGE HIT: Toque Emergencia - I can't believe I had this sitting under the sink for months and never tried it. My airdried hair looks and feels like wavy black silk. Love it!

I used this yesterday and it really did make my hair nice and soft. :yep:

Misses:
*transitioning, I just relaxed again with gentle treatment regular. at this time in my life I do not have the time or money to contribute to going natural, I will however when my life slows down, and I'm steady.

*ORS LYE relaxer, I've been using this since janurary, and slowly but surely my hair thinned out. I dont know what it is with lye relaxers, but they thin my hair horribly which promted my decision to transition in the first place. The no=lye caused mad shedding, so I'm gonna chalk it up as ORS is not a good product for my hair, and I will hold on to just the oil sheen, olive oil, and mayo

*Skipping on my aphogee protein treatments every 6-7 weeks!!, my hair got really weak, after I did one, my hair went back to normal

*Pantene relaxed and natural shampoo...yucky yuck yuck, the SLS were terrible!!!, the mask how ever is a keeper:rolleyes:

HITS!!!

*Creme of Nature, oh yeah "this my ish this my ish"... I like both shampoos, and the nourish conditioner, staples right along with my nexxus that I will never rid

*lottabody setting lotion, i tired the wrap set foam by ORS, and hands down lottabody does the damn thang

*NTM silk-touch, i like this better than lacio lacio, it gives a softer rollerset for my hair, this hot six oil, and diluted lotta body does the damn thang... lacio lacio/silicon mix left my hair way to fluffy and big

*REvisiting GENTLE TREATMENT normal relaxer, hair so soft and full:) me likey, follwed by keraphix/ and ORS replenishing pak!!!

Misses:
-Motions Moisture Plus Conditioner - My hair just doesnt like it.
-Queen Helene Olive Oil Cholestorol as a cowash - Made my hair sickeningly soft. Aint been right since.

On The Fence:
-LacioLacio - Maybe its cuz it doesnt have the magic mink oil. Or cuz Im almost 8 weeks post. But this stuff does NOTHING for my hair.. always makes it seem dull. :(
-KeraCare Conditioning Cream - It added shine but that was about it. Maybe Im looking for too much from this product. But so far its just soso.
-KeraCare Humecto - Im thinking that this is something that will work better on weeks 1-5 post relaxer; after that I need something a bit heavier.

Hit:
-Sunsilk AntiPoof as a leave in - Really helped bring my hair down from all the poofiness Ive been experiencing.
-KeraCare Detangling/Hydrating Poo - LOVE it LOVE it LOVE it!
-KeraCare Dry/Itchy Scalp condish - This is going to be a staple for me forever.

Thats all I can think of right now.

Hits:
- V05 kiwi and lime clarifying poo mixed with proclaim aloe& shea poo
- Henna Queen Garlic rinse on scalp during my dc although it stinks to high heaven until 2 days after use. I felt a tingle or something...
-Proclaim glossing polish- I love the ingredients and softness-good cheaper substitute for my silken seal
-V05 split ends as a prepoo with scunci hair turban
-Lou Ana coconut oil- not as yummy as parachute, but does the job while I am on vacay
- Queen Helene unscented Garlic poo

To Be Determined: Loreal Nutri Gloss treatment

misses: DPR-11 - I think it's more of an oil treatment than a moisturizer. It left my hair with a waxy coating. I used it as a prepoo, and I probably won't repurchase.

Miss:
Sealing leave-in w/serum before rollersetting. After sitting under the dryer, time after time, different serums left my hair dry, brittle and parched; not good.

Hit:
Sealing my Lacio Lacio w/ORS Oil Sheen after rollersetting and before drying, my hair retained moisture much better.

Once again, another Hit!!!

-Coconut Oil - I was very surprised at how light it is. I got the Spectrum brand from Vitamin Shoppe.

Miss - Suave clarifying shampoo. :nono:

Hit - Chi Silk Infusion :yep:

Unsure - Chi Keratin Mist :ohwell: Makes the hair soft but I've experienced more shedding. I'm going to attempt to try it again after tweaking my routine.

More hits:
1. I tried the Trader Joe's condish for co after reading the positive reviews & I love it. I did not expect it to be so moisturizing. Definitely a keeper!!
2. Revisited PM Super Skinny condish & serum - I stopped using this last summer due to cones & forgot how creamy the condish was...this combo kept my hair frizz free in the Paris heat & humidity last summer...why did I listen to the cones are bad lie??!?? They are my friend in the summertime:grin:
3. co washes - I love these for moisturizing & keeping cool in the summer heat---
4. Crom Emergencia - I just love this for protein & moisture -- hair feels strong not hard
5. AO White Camellia condish- I love the way my hair feels with this & the soft smell is great for the summer. I added a little evoo to seal before deep condish

Hit: Hair 2 Heaven Stimulate! Essential Oil Blend (Light and easy to apply, and full of good stuff)

I am sooo glad this worked for you LaReyna! :reddancer: I love this stuff. :love3:

I'm glad it worked for you Tee. I can't wait to wash tomorrow just so I can use it again!:yep:

I didn't use it with heat yesterday. I can only imagine what the heat will for it. I can't wait!

Hit:
Body Shop Coconut Shine My airdried hair is shiny, straight, and isn't weighed down. I got this as a part of an auction I won on eBay, so I have no clue as to how much it costs or any additional info. I hate that the tin is a whopping 1.7oz, too! Depending on it's cost, etc, I would love to add this to the arsenal!

Sigh...I can NEVER escape!! :nono:

Well, I've got my first miss in a while:

AVOCADO mutha hatin' BUTTER. :whip:

I mixed my Hemp Seed Butter with a few drops of Shea Butter oil and it is a creamy, luscious concoction with a hint of the fresh lemon sugar fragrance oil I added. I love it on my hair and on my body. This and the avocado butter have been doing my ashy behind just right! :lick:

awhh now Glamourous. :( I have yet to try out mine. I never have to much success with Suave so I am never ready to pick up that bottle.:perplexed

Dont bother. I tried it again and poured about 1/3 of the bottle on my head, but it still dried me out. I'll either add olive oil and use it up or throw it away.

Hits: KeraCare Dry & Itchy Scalp Conditioner (INCREDIBLE slip!:yep:)
KeraCare Conditioning Creme Hairdress

Just got this yesterday at JCpenney salon-pretty good sale. I hope it's a hit. I got this condish, Keracare Jojoba oil moisturizer and something else hmmmm a leave in maybe??? They were out of the dry/itchy poo. All 3 for $18.00 woohooo! The jojoba moisturizer was $1.00. The PJ in me was having shopgasms all day, plus the entire store was pretty much on sale so that helped too.
