From time to time, I use Dudu Osun Black Soap on my hair (except when I have food in my hair).

I forgot that I have also used the Dudu Osun black soap as well as the raw shea butter and palm oil soaps, all of which I get from the African store. I have had good results from pretty much all the shampoo bars. The CV carrot, milk and honey and the butter bar were a bit coating, so I do not really use those, but I only bought the samples. THe nettle is really wonderful when I need a balancing shampoo and the rosemary and lavender is just awesome as is the Earth Soap's shampoo bar. THese bars come in handy when I need something not quite as moisturizing as the black soap and/or bars from the African store, but need more of a balancing or somewhat clarifying bar. I have always had great results with the Swastik shikakai bar and River Soap Company's sea kelp bar in terms of just soft, detangled hair.

Yes, I do.

Started using in the beginning of '07 when I slowly began to realize my hair didn't like poo (namely Keracare) - I've been alternating the bars with diluted CON (green label). Only real poo I will use is when it's time to clarify a bit.

Just wanted to share the tip I learned (if not being done already) to extend the life of the bar was to cut it into halves or quarters and try to keep it dry once you've used it.

Like BJ said, lather up on your hands first, then apply to hair - don't put the bar to your hair.

Everyone always has such mixed results from shampoo bars. Either they really love them or hate them with a passion. I really want to try Chagrin Valley but I'm scared, and plus I have hard water.

This afternoon I purchased the Oyin Poo Bar and the Oyin Honey Hemp Conditioner. I can't wait to get my purchase! *maniacally starts rubbing hands together with an evil sneer*

i ordered some sample shampoo bars from chagrin valley:

lavender and spice - smells so pretty, and makes my hair smell pretty!
marshmallow and babassu - after using, reminded me of how my dog used to smell after a bath ... so i dunno about this one
neem and tea tree - I LOVE THIS ONE!

the lather is AMAZING for all three bars!

i did experience a bit of that weird waxy "crayon" feeling on my hair... and my dorm has really hard water... but i fixed that with an ACV rinse, and i was good to go!

I use the lush *New* Shampoo bar which has cinnamon in it and really makes my scalp tingle (the girl who works at lush swears her hair grew from it)
I also have a Shakaki bar I just brought and I love it!

You can get Swastik (the name...oh my) Shikakai bars on Ebay...2 for about $2.50+ s/h or so. I found the shakakai stripping even tho my hair was already oiled...my hair got squeaky, but I had my regular poo on hand and it was fine. No permanent damage, my preferred moisture balance came back immediately. I do two later/rinses each time I wash...so I used shakakai 1st to experiment and my regular poo 2nd, it was all good. Like a good scout, I was prepared.

There's an Aritha bar I tried and liked, it wasn't as stripping for me...so that might be an option for some. Neither left a waxy feel. I'll continue to use them, but I still prefer liquid poo.

I love CV shampoo bars. I use these on my daughters C-napp hair as a replacement for commercial shampoos. It's wonderful! I can't believe that her hair gets softer as it dries and I can brush thru it with my denman.

The first time I tried it on my hair my hair felt coated and waxy but that was to be expected (as she mentioned on the site) since I had been using regular shampoos and conditioners. An ACV rinse done afterwards followed by conditioner makes it really soft.

Since I just relaxed I wanted to see how my hair would behave just using the bar and not shampoo. Big difference. No waxy coated feeling at all. I love this stuff. I want to order the honey butter soap since I read that some people use this after using the shampoo bar with great results but she is constantly sold out on these!

I use the shikakai bar from the indian store. I notice that if you wash more than once the hair seems stripped so I only lather once. But I do like it b/c it gives a really nice lather and moisturizes.

I love poo bars. I was mainly using Nubian Heritae soaps, and black soap. They both leave my hair feel so good and not stripped at all. I have been using a CV sample of Olive/Babassu. I really likes it. I want to try more of theirs if I can catch them before they sell out. I use a shikakai bar maybe twice a month or so. I have also ordered Anita Grant 's poo bar. I can't wait to try it when it gets here.

I dont think I'll ever use shampoo again!! I love my indian shampoo bars, they last forever, not harsh on your hair whatsoever but get your hair squeaky clean.. I'm a convert

All I use are shampoo bars!! I tried Ida's Olive & Shea Shampoo Bar and I've been hooked on shampoo bars ever since. I throw out all my commercial/liquid shampoos. Also a staple of mine is the Shikikai Shampoo Bar.

I'm using Shikakai Bar, as part of Ayurvedic regimen. Did not use long enough to make a real verdict.
